Works well for indoor bbq
Just used it for indoor bbq, the fan works well. I love the fact that it is adjustable so I can get it right where the smoke is. It’s quite powerful and definitely took away a lot of the and noise level is low. Size is perfect and didn’t take much room.
This really exceeded my expectations; it’s much bigger than I thought. It comes with 10 filters that are easy to wash and has 4 speeds—even the lowest one has strong suction. You can adjust the height as needed, and honestly, it’s a really great product.

This AMZCHEF Portable Range Hood has been proving it’s design well, and can handle any and all odors and smoke I lug at it – like a BOSS . Cooking massive amounts of easy-to-reheat Noodle and Beef dishes for my bodybuilding regimen creates A LOT of smoke and odors in our small old house, so we got this AMZCHEF portable range hood to help with that issue – since this house was built in the ’40’s and has no Modern Vents OR Overhead HVAC, but THANKFULLY, AMZCHEF has helped us turn a lemon situation into BODYBUILDERS’ LEMONADE! Haha! The aerodynamic engineering works exactly as-advertised. The internal carbon filters actively scrub grease, oil and smoke from the air, pulling a solid 120 CFM without requiring any external ducting. At its lowest speed, it operates at a quiet-enough 52dB, the brushless motor doesn’t drown out my podcasts while I meal prep. The LED light is also a nice bonus feature. The articulating arm that tilts 40 degrees is perfect for aiming where it’s needed – at all the stinky fried meats + wok’d noodles with Teriyaki and Soy Sauces – and the mother-lode: FISHY FISHY SALMON! This Range Hood Fan from AMZCHEF has been a Meal-Prep lovers’ dream! My only TINY critique involves the fan’s center of gravity on the chassis itself. The base is somewhat small, compared to the heavy filter head, and doesn’t have any weight in the base whatsoever. So often, when I need to extend the telescopic arm to its max height – and tilt it forward – the entire fan unit gets slightly top-heavy and DOES tip over – at least 50% of the time. I would love to see a piece of metal installed in upcoming refreshed fan units – cause I feel that would make it incredibly stable! Just my humble tip! Other than that tipping-over factor, it’s been a highly effective, odor-eliminating, space-saving kitchen device at a great value-price & so I really cannot deduct a star for that, cause our small house WOULD STINK TO HIGH HEAVEN without this fan! So, it absolutely gets my 100% Tried-and-True 5 Star Rating! Surprisingly effective range hood.
Honestly, I had no clue what this is when I ordered it. I thought it was a portable fan or hair dryer. Little did I know that it would be an enormous range hood that’s over a foot in height. Perhaps the biggest surprise to me is how much suction it has to pull all the steam and vapors coming off your food. It actually seems to work better than my regular range hood that produces a lot of noise with little result. Comparatively, this one is also far quieter even at its maximum speed. Like many devices from this brand, the build quality is equally outstanding.
The only things not ideal for me is that it needs a plug near the stove. My old oven had an outlet at the top and would have been perfect for this. Unfortunately, my new one lacks this and I need an extension cord to use this. I kinda wish it was battery operated. Also, I’m not a big fan of cleaning up the oil splatter on the unit itself due to how close it needs to be to the food. This is an added step to cleaning up the glass range surface, and there’s also emptying/washing the oil collector cup. That said, I think this is an impressively performing device that’s especially suitable places where it is physically not possible to put in a proper range hood.

Quick Review:
I use this in my 5th wheel trailer. The stove does not vent outside, so this helps draw smoke, steam, etc away.
Works quite well to dissipate heat, too.

Has a small light, although it’s not overly bright.

Clever portable kitchen solutio
This is a great concept for places where installing a traditional vent hood isn’t practical. The compact desktop design doesn’t take up much room and can be moved or stored when it’s not needed. Very useful for smaller kitchens and cooking spaces
I’ve been using this portable range hood primarily as a general-purpose fan because it moves a surprising amount of air for its size, but I’ve also used it as a backup to my kitchen’s built-in ventilation when cooking smoky foods. In that role, it does make a noticeable difference compared with having no supplemental ventilation.
The smoke and odor removal is decent. It doesn’t eliminate everything, but it does a good job of capturing some of the smoke and cooking odors and is definitely useful when I need extra help. The fan also moves a lot of air, although it gets fairly loud on the highest setting. I would not consider it a particularly quiet appliance at full power.
The unit is easy to set up and operate. The touch controls make it simple to select the fan speed, and the adjustable arm tilts and raises easily to position the fan where you need it. The narrow base is also helpful because it can be positioned fairly close to the cookware. The appearance is decent and matches what I expected from the listing.
My biggest complaint is the construction. The materials feel somewhat thin, and the lightweight base makes the unit quite top-heavy. When the arm is extended, it can be knocked over relatively easily, so I would be careful about where it is positioned. I like the adjustability, but I don’t have as much confidence in the overall feel of the stand because of the lightweight construction.
The power cord is another minor limitation. The AC adapter could be longer, as I sometimes need an extension cord to position the unit where I want it. I also think having a battery-powered option would make this considerably more versatile.
Overall, I think this is a useful supplemental exhaust fan for anyone who needs some extra help when cooking smoky foods. It is compact, easy to position, and moves a good amount of air. Just keep in mind that the lightweight construction affects its stability, and the fan is noticeably noisy at full power.
Mom has a small food business and she uses my kitchen almost everyday. I was looking for a vent that would supplement my built in range hood in the kitchen. This postable hood helps a lot with the smoke, grease and even the smell. Easy to use and easy to clean.
A Huge Help for an Open Kitchen, Especially When Cooking Steak
I live in an apartment with an open kitchen, and even though there is a range hood, it still doesn’t catch all the smoke and grease from cooking. I cook steak pretty often, and over time I noticed that the cooking fumes would spread into the living area and eventually leave a greasy feeling on furniture and other surfaces.
This has made a surprisingly big difference. I place it right next to the stove when I’m cooking, and it captures a lot of the smoke before it has a chance to spread throughout the apartment. The air feels noticeably better after cooking, and there’s also less greasy residue to clean up afterward.
For me, it’s not just about keeping the kitchen cleaner. It also makes cooking in an open space much more comfortable, especially when searing steak or cooking anything that produces a lot of smoke. It’s become something I use regularly and genuinely feel like I needed. Very happy with this purchase.
