Makes A Huge Difference To Feeling Less Eye Strain and Fatigue, Perfect For My Purposes
I do a lot of craft work and find that my eyes get really sore from eye fatigue and strain. I find it worse when I am doing things like diamond art, or even sometimes paint by numbers, because some of the intricate details are quite small and require close up work. I have a light up magnifying glass that I have been using, but it is difficult, as it requires holding with one hand, and working with the other. When I saw this gooseneck magnifying glass lamp, I thought it would be perfect for my needs.
After only using for a few days, I am really impressed with this lamp and wish I had ordered one long before now. It has made things much easier for me, and I can work a lot longer.
I really appreciate that this is a stand alone lamp, and that I don’t have to clip it onto a tabletop or desk. While it only provides double the magnification, that is enough for me. I am able to clearly see the pattern, numbers and letters on my diamond paintings. You can see how magnified it is from the photos below.
This has a five inch glass optical lens, so there is no distortion or glare. This lamp has five different colour modes, including cool light, natural light, bright light, and warmer tones. It also has ten modes of colour brightness which, at the press of a button will go from 10% to 100% brightness for each colour mode. You can adjust the lighting and brightness to suit your needs for whatever kind of project you are using it for. The buttons are all on the magnifying glass part which makes it very convenient to turn on and off and adjust light modes.
I like the flexibility of this gooseneck lamp. The weighted base is seven inches wide and made of metal designed specifically for stability and is heavy enough to withstand bending and rotation of the lamp without tipping over.
I will also find this lamp to be of great use when reading. There have been many times when I’ve wished that the book I’ve been reading came in large print, so having this lamp available for that purpose will also prove invaluable.
I can see many uses for this lamp, not only with diamond art, paint by numbers, and reading, but also embroidery and junk journalling. Being able to focus in on areas and to be able to change the type of lighting and degree of brightness will all be a huge asset.
Versatile, High-Quality Magnifying Glass
The Haotor Magnifying Glass is a well-made, sturdy, and highly functional tool. Its heavy base and flexible arm easily support both the magnifying glass and the integrated ring light. A 12W power adapter is included.
Assembly is straightforward and takes just a couple of minutes. While unpacking, a spare bolt fell out of the stand’s mounting bracket. Although it was likely stored there intentionally, it would be better packaged in the tool bag to prevent it from getting lost.
The ring light is excellent, offering several brightness levels and colour temperatures easily controlled via buttons on the top.
The flexible arm is quite stiff, requiring some effort to adjust while holding the base down. While this stiffness prevents unwanted movement during use, it can make minor adjustments slightly difficult.
When angled parallel to the desk, the magnifying glass sits about 10 inches high. From a seated position, it is too high and requires your to stand up to see through it clearly. However, angling the arm up an additional 20 degrees or more allows for comfortable viewing while seated, though you may need to hold your object at a matching angle.
The lens offers excellent magnification power and a wide viewing area, making it easy to read tiny text or examine details on larger objects.
One drawback is the lack of a built-in battery, meaning it must be plugged in to operate. I plan to use a portable power bank for greater mobility around the house. It will be especially useful at my desk for reading the small-print manuals that accompany many products.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Haotor Magnifying Glass. It is a highly useful tool that makes reading small text and viewing fine details much easier.

This magnifying glass is very helpful for anything that requires close, detailed work. Solid and Convenie
I’m impressed by how substantial the whole setup feels.
It has some real heft, not just in the base, but throughout the entire apparatus. Nothing here feels flimsy or hollow.
The weight gives it a sturdy, planted feel.
The glass itself is excellent.
It’s super clear, fairly thick, and has a distinct convex curvature on both sides that makes the magnification crisp and easy to work with.
Angling it is effortless thanks to the strong gooseneck, and adjusting viewing angles and depths feels natural.
The gooseneck holds its position without sagging, and even if your table shakes a bit, this thing doesn’t wobble around.
The weight and the stiff neck work together to keep everything stable.
That said, the glass is a bit overly reflective.
I’m not sure whether it’s the material or the curvature, but depending on your lighting setup, you may catch distracting reflections.
It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s noticeable.
You also get a mini “super magnifier” lens built into the top of the main one.
It definitely magnifies more, but the field of view is extremely limited, you’ll be squinting and positioning your eye just right to use it.
It’s handy for very tiny details, but it’s not something you’ll use constantly.
The base plate is well thought out. It has a screw-in adapter that the gooseneck attaches to, tightened with a hand-turn knob.
This makes teardown and storage easy if you need to put it away.
The bottom is felt covered, so it won’t slide around or scratch your desk.
Combined with the overall weight, the lamp stays exactly where you put it.
Power-wise, its all USBA. A simple decision that gives you options.
They actually include a proper USB power adapter, not cheaping out with a “bring your own” situation.
And it’s actually a good one, putting out 2A at 5v.
That means you can plug it into the wall with the included adapter, or go fully portable by connecting it to a USB power bank.
They even throw in not just one, but two, glass cleaning cloths.
The light on this thing is also very bright, but you got your choice of 10 brightness levels.
In addition to that it has 5 lighting modes. From bright white to warm white and combinations in between.
VERDICT:
This magnifying lamp makes close-up work very more convenient.
It’s sturdy, stable with is high quality glass.
The lighting options are great, and the whole thing feels like a proper tool.
This magnifying glass is amazing, the clarity and the magnification is great. I am not sure exactly how many percentage does it magnify but I have tried multiple items and all of them can seen way bigger under the glass.
This comes with 2 light settings, warm and cool and you can adjust the brightness as well.
You do have to plug it in though because it’s electric magnifying glass
