Chipmunks may still be able to access if they are able to get on the feeder. Great build quality.
Very well made bird feeder and seems like it will hold-up for years.
The spring-mechanism is a bit tighter than I was hoping, the ad does say it may not go down for lighter squirrels or smaller animals like chipmunks. I can confirm this will not drop with a chipmunk, one of the reasons we got this feeder in the first place, as the chippys can empty a feeder in a day.
The squirrels have also found a way to pull the feeder towards them, which means the spring doesn’t activate.
In both cases, this is our own downfall, as we have this feeder by a chain-link fence, so the rodents have an easier way accessing the feeders, so that’s something to keep in mind.
Still a 5-star item, though, as the spring does make it harder for the squirrels and chipmunks to access the feeder, and the door does get covered a bit, making it very difficult for them to get into the seeds, so they are severely limited in how much they can take out of the feeder.
My other feeders were old so seeing that this one kept squirrels off piqued my interest. My first one is bronze and it was easy to fill up and no squirrels. So, I brought a second one in red. They are well made and hold slot of bird food.

I love this birdfeeder. It is the best squirrel proof one that I have ever tried. It holds plenty of food so you don’t have to refill it every day and it is very well-made. I have two of these and I love them both. I highly recommend.
Fantastic feede
Awesome bird feeder. Squirrels are foiled as are chipmunks. Lots of birds coming to the feeder and works well with a variety of seeds. Very happy and great value with purchase.
I like it very much. Attractive and easy to fill. Small birds are loving it. Bluejays, larger peckers and doves cannot feed from it. Squirrels are not messing with it, must have tried without me seeing that. Raccoon tried but could not take it down Only a few days, but so far so great. Eliminating the backyard bullying by feeding larger birds in separate feeder and they all seem to be adjusting.
Give birds time to figure it out, and it's great!
Give it time!! I had it up for days and didn’t have any birds interested in it and almost returned it. A few days later the birds figured it out, and now I have birds eating from it all the time and it’s actually a really great feeder that is well designed.
Perfect for the multitude of finches. The perches at the bottom are perfect. Perches up higher run out of their ability to get to the seed. Feeder doors close with weight of 1 squirrel or 2 doves.
I do like this feeder. I REALLY DO! And apparently so does the neighborhood squirrel. It only took him three days to figure out how to solve his dilemma. He found a way to curl himself around the cylinder from the top, and hook his feet onto the little cross bars to avoid it closing on him.
I would buy this feeder again though. It’s sturdy and has a quality feel to it. I would recommend it.
Only four stars due to the fact that it’s not 100% squirrel proof. But hey.. they have to eat too!
Lovely bird feeders. Easy to fill. Squirrels continue to assault and steal but they are holding up unlike the plastic feeders that they eat. The spring close action is effective- squirrels are just intelligent menaces. Saving to buy again in the future.
