    Great upgrade from an OfficeJe
I got this Xerox C255a as an upgrade from an older OfficeJet that seemed to be burning through my ink cartridges. I wanted to get away from the other brand due to how they handle their ink subscriptions, and the difference has been night and day. After a short time in my home office, it easy earned this 5-star rating. I use it for my own projects, but my kids also use it for their school projects and it’s been great.

Right out of the box, the setup was quick and painless (though, my back somewhat disagrees as the printer isn’t the lightest to lug around, but once placed, you don’t move it anymore anyways, so let’s not get into that haha let’s just say, the printer is heavy lol). Hooking it onto my network was easy as pie, and we’re able to print from various devices (desktop, laptops, phones etc) without dropping or having print jobs end up stuck in the queue.

Compared to our old OfficeJet, the print quality has been a massive leap forward. The text comes out very sharp, the blacks are deep black, and the colors have been vibrant without smudges or wet ink to worry about. The touchscreen has been straightforward and intuitive, and I feel there has been very little to no learning curve here. And while the toners are more expensive than the ink for my OfficeJet, they are more convenient to work with and last longer as well. I have not experienced any paper james, mnisfeeds, or other issues with the printer.

So far, it’s been all good. That being said, the only thing that I feel is a minor downside, is the scanning feature. While the scanner makes high-quality scans, this model does have an automated document feeder, so scanning a large stack of papers requires a bit more of patience. It’s great for the occasional documents, receipts, IDs, etc, but if you need to digitize 20-30 pages a day, you’re probably going to want a model that has the automated document feeder. All in all, though, I feel this has been an absolutely great printer, and I’m super glad I made the switch from my OfficeJet to this Xerox all-in-one printer. Highly recommended!

Economically print and scan in color.
I have a similar Xerox printer in my office, but it only prints in black and white. Being able to print in color is a huge upgrade.

I uploaded a video so you can see unboxing, setup, printing, and copying. The video is 3.5 minutes. I hope it helps. Here is a brief written summary, too:

    1) Unboxing and setup was easy. The toners were already installed, so I just needed to slide open the toner tray and remove the shipping plastics.

    2) Setup was easy with the phone app. Windows was unable to find the printer on my network until I’d set it to my WiFi using the app. Then Windows found it and added it easily. I’m using the printer on wireless and it seems reliable. No network cable needed.

    3) Printing in color was effortless. It’s not the fastest color printer (took about a minute for the first color page to print) but the colors are vibrant. It’s not meant for photos, but even photos didn’t look horrible.

    4) Printing in black and white resulted in inverted prints when I printed from my laptop. From my other (desktop) computer, it printed properly. I’m not sure what’s wrong, but it definitely seems like an issue with my laptop vs the printer, since it prints fine from other machines.

    5) Copying a color image worked great, and it was a quick and easy process.

    6) This printer costs much less than some other color laser printers that don’t even have the scan/copy function.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersBest printer eve
I run a small side business reselling various footwear and home fixtures, so my workspace needs to be extremely reliable when it comes to managing inventory sheets and printing shipping labels. I recently upgraded my office with the Xerox C255a color laser all in one printer and the overall quality is incredibly impressive. The premium home office casing feels very sturdy on my desk and does not take up an unnecessary amount of room. The initial setup process was an absolute breeze thanks to the easy mobile setup application which guided me through the entire configuration step by step. The wireless connectivity is absolutely flawless, allowing me to send documents directly from my phone or laptop without having to deal with a tangled mess of cables. The functionality of this machine is exactly what my daily routine required, seamlessly combining a scanner, copier, and reliable document feeder into one sleek unit.

When it comes to the actual performance, this machine completely handles everything I throw at it with ease. The printing speed of twenty six pages per minute is fantastic for churning out large batches of invoices or promotional flyers without leaving me standing around waiting. I was genuinely surprised by the pristine printing quality, as the laser output produces incredibly sharp black text and beautifully vibrant colors that make my business documents look incredibly professional. Even the fax quality is surprisingly clear and consistent whenever I need to send signed purchase agreements to my wholesale suppliers. Considering how much time it saves me every week and the professional results it delivers on a daily basis, the overall value for money is truly outstanding. I highly recommend adding this printer to your workspace if you want a dependable and fast machine that handles your business tasks perfectly.

Compact, easy printer. Comparison to HP.
This is a compact, easy-to-use printer although there are a couple quirks to note. I’ve been using an HP 3301cdw and this Xerox C255 is almost identical. I’d have to give the slight edge to the HP for a couple reasons noted below.

Build quality: The Xerox is fine but nothing special. The plastic components and fit feel a bit cheap. As long as you are gentle with it, it should last a while. The HP feels slightly better plastic quality throughout, but not a big difference.

Ease of setup: The Xerox was extremely easy and fast to get set up and printing. I have it hardwired with ethernet, but you also have wireless wifi options. Install the Xerox Print and Scan desktop app and you are ready to go. I was printing within a few minutes.

Screen: The Xerox screen can be a bit laggy and is pretty small. The HP screen is much bigger and feels nicer.

Print quality: Both printers make nice prints.

Print software: The Xerox and HP softwares are almost identical in appearance and function. The Xerox has a nice PDF viewer/editor that the HP does not have. However, the Xerox would freeze when I tried to sent prints from the PDF editor. This could be a bug that will hopefully get fixed.

Toner replacement: This is where a huge part of the cost of owning the printer comes in. Currently, there don’t appear to be value toner replacements for the Xerox. All the toner cartridges I’ve seen on Amazon are extremely expensive. Maybe this will improve over time as more “generic” replacements become available. The HP has had value replacements for a long time and thus will be much cheaper to run if you do a lot of printing.

Noise level: Both are very similar. Not super quiet, but not super loud either.

Great laser printer. Easy to set-up, great features, excellent print quality, and quick.
If you are in need of a quick small business laser printer, this new model from Xerox is a great choice. It is not a typical home printer, because it is built for speed and volume. Laser printers are typically much more expensive to begin with and the print cartridges are also more costly. But the trade-off is that you get a well built, feature rich printer that can handle greater volume more quickly.

The quality of the printing is excellent, with the exception of photos. Most laser printers are not great for photos. They are extremely adequate for most uses but if you want this to be photo print quality printer it won’t serve that purpose.

It is very easy to set-up. Once I got it unboxed and untaped, it only took a few minutes to set-up on multiple printers, all wireless. It has a good form factor so it can set up in a small space and still be able to handle printing, copying and scanning (or faxing if you still need that feature), because the paper tray and the output tray are within the outer measurements of the overall printer. So what you see is what you get, not extruding items.

It can print in B/W or color with speed and great quality for most all applications. (See my comment about photo quality above). For color presentations, charts, etc., it work exceptionally well.

The Xerox Print and Scan Experience app is easy to use for managing your printing, scanning or faxing. There are multiple resolutions for scanning and easy upload to your computer. The copy feature is also easy to use and excellent quality. The document feeder at the top feeds the copies and then prints them out quickly.

As stated at the beginning, this is a great laser printer for a small business or at least where you might have a high volume and the need for speed. It is a reasonable value to start. As with any laser printer the cost for replacement cartridges makes it a little more pricey than some ink printers, but you trade off speed and quality with cost. For business this is a great way to go.
