    ONLY autofocus, otherwise quite nice.
Good sharp lens at a good price, however I didn’t realize it was auto focus ONLY.

There is no adjustable ring at all on the lens, and so at least with my camera, there is no way to do manual focus, as there’s no dial/ring/buttons you can assign to that function on body, you need a ring on the lens.

If that isn’t a dealbreaker for you, this is a good lens – but it doesn’t fit my needs, unfortunately.

for the price, you would be hard pressed in finding a better value than than this. The performance of this lens is reminiscent of the Sony 50mm f1.8, minus some features and improving on others. This lens has the same aperture range of f1.8-f16 as the Sony but the aperture feels smoother than the Sony when adjusting it with the dials on the camera body. The focus motor is a hair quieter and feels snappier than my Sony 50mm f1.8 but it still delivers the same overall performance.

For such a compact lens, you would assume that it was aps-c but it actually covers a full frame sensor. The lens is very lightweight and is made oof plastics. Unlike the Sony, it doesn’t have a functioning focus ring as it does not move at all. The autofocus has been very reliable in majority of my use cases but i did get it to hunt a bit when trying to focus on a small bug on a leaf that was backlit, which brings me to my only real gripe with this lens and that is it’s minimum focusing distance. You can not get anywhere close enough for a macro shot unless you have a high megapixel camera that you can crop into.

This lens has amazing color rendition and sharpness for high MP cameras. Even at higher ISO’s i was still getting sharp images that had plenty of latitude for noise reduction in post. In most scenarios that i shot backlit, the lens retained color and contrast and did not have excessive chromatic aberrations. I do not shoot charts so testing it in extreme, unrealistic scenarios isn’t my thing. When stopped down to f16, you get decent sun stars but they do not have long or defined tails. I was surprised that a lens at this price didn’t completely wash out the moment a bit of light hit the front element. At f1.8 the transition from in focus to out of focus is very smooth and gets extremely creamy on the far ends. Some bokeh balls do have a more noisy look to it than what you find in more premium 50mm lenses but i look at this as its character.

This is the best lens at this price with autofocus that i have ever used. It is well worth the cost and great for any experience level.

The TTArtisan NEO might be misunderstood.

A masterclass in minimalist subtraction, this ultra-compact prime lens is minimalistic, lightweight and despite its mostly plastic build it is very durable. The ABS plastic shell feels good to touch and feels good in the hand. It has a good material weight and feel to it and is far from cheap feeling.

While legacy purists obsess over engineering aberrations and edge-to-edge perfection on a test chart, they fail to see that these exact characteristics offer something far more valuable to contemporary creators: an analog soul.

By stripping away external physical control rings entirely, its 156-gram glass-fiber composite housing embraces a clean, architectural silhouette that integrates seamlessly with modern mirrorless bodies. Traditional reviewers dismiss the lack of manual rings and the lightweight housing as ‘cheap,’ completely missing the point of today’s creator market. This lens is designed for fluid, uninterrupted movement; it relies entirely on camera-body communication to drive its silent STM autofocus.

The result is a striking, uncluttered form factor that prioritizes pure digital execution over physical nostalgia. A lens that doesn’t deliver a sterile, clinically perfect digital image; instead, it renders a soft, organic vignette and a center contrast that yields an undeniably cinematic, vintage matter. The center sharpness remains crisp for eye and face tracking during run-and-gun shooting, while the natural optical characteristics give footage a distinct character out-of-camera that software filters can never quite replicate. It is a tool designed not for the sterile laboratory, but for the modern content creator that demands simplicity, affordability and good enough functionality.

Todays content creators aren’t creating images for 60 foot billboards that will be placed under a “microscope” therefor a lens that might not be suitable for commercial photography might just be the perfect tool for a professional reseller or lifestyle photographer.

Overall, this product provides excellent functionality. While the capture abilities might not score high on a lab chart this lens offers strong value for the price and is highly recommended.

Easy to use and good value for your money
This sharp 50mm F1.8 prime lens delivers stunning image quality with crisp subject detail, fast autofocus performance and beautiful creamy background bokeh for portrait photography. The wide F1.8 maximum aperture excels in low-light environments, allowing you to capture clear, noise-free handheld photos without relying on heavy artificial flash. Exceptional build quality, solid metallic lens barrel design and smooth focus rings make this an incredible value addition to any photographer’s gear bag.

TTArtisan nails it again with the 50mm F1.8.
This is my 4th lens from TTArtisan and I continue to be blown away by the value the company delivers in their lenses. Photography is a hobby I’m just getting back into and navigating the different lens mount types along with needing new lenses,

First things first, build quality feels stable on this, just like my other lenses. I’m still not entirely certain what “Neo” means outside of it appears to mean that you can 3D print accessories for lens if that is your thing.

Overall, I’m impressed with the autofocus and image quality that this lens brings. I noticed a bit of vignetting which is common on my other lenses, but nothing that can’t be fixed in post. Autofocus works as I would expect (comparing it to my kit lens). I do not have experience shooting on much more expensive hardware, so if you’re a pro you may disagree with me, but I find TTArtisan lenses to be great price point for beginners like myself.

Last point which is nice to know for beginners, TTARTISAN lenses do not have image stabilization built into them. I learned the hard way trying to shoot video on another camera I have that didn’t have great in-body image stabilization. Just pointing this out for anyone new.

I mounted this on my Sony A6700 camera and was impressed with how good the image quality is for the price. Autofocus is quick enough for everyday photography, and the f/1.8 aperture gives a pleasing background blur for portraits. The lens is lightweight, making it easy to carry around all day. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking to add an affordable prime lens to their kit.

    Nifty fifty
I’m not sure how much better you can get when it comes to a nifty fifty at this price point especially with all the features it has especially the F1.8 – I paired this with my a7iii and just off the raw images it’s amazing quality and very sharp for price you pay. Autofocus is decent not too crazy but for what you pay I mean you can’t be mad. I purchased this because I want a nice travel lens and I think this will do the job.
