Spiral Binding Machine with Strong Punching and Fast Electric Inserte
This spiral binding machine feels sturdy and wellmade. It’s heavy enough that it doesn’t slide around while you’re using it. It comes with a box of coils and a coilcutting/crimping tool, which is helpful for finishing the bindings neatly. One nice feature is that you can disengage individual punch pins, so you avoid creating a partial hole at the edge of your paper.
The electric coil inserter runs quite fast, which took me a few tries to get comfortable with. Punching a full stack of 20 sheets of standard printer paper is possible, but requires a fair amount of force. With enough strength, the holes will come out cleanly. For lighter stacks of around 10 sheets, the process is much smoother and I found it faster to just divide into smaller stacks rather than struggle with a full 20 sheets.
Overall, the machine does its job well once you adjust to its quirks.
This spiral binding machine makes organizing papers and creating “books” a breeze! I didn’t find the instructions too helpful but I was able to go my original order information and find some pictures that helped me answer the questions I had (like where to place the paper for instance).
It is safe to use. The roller on top does spin but it does not cause pain or injury if touched. The wire “spine” did get pulled and into the machine a couple of times but I was able to turn the machine off and pull the wire out without any trouble. Once that happens, any damaged or misshaped part of the wire spine has to be cut off and thrown out.
The only concern I have with it is that once inserted, I am not sure how to crimp the wire spine to keep it from unraveling out and also to keep the sharp ends from scratching someone or something.
The machine is fairly heavy and requires a flat surface to operate. The hole punch feature is operated manually whereas the binding feature requires AC power. A power cord is included as well as a cutting/crimping? tool and a box full of wire spines to get you started.
