My 2.5 and 5.5yo kids have been loving this set, and a few of the instruments are addicting for us parents, too. They’re all very pretty and seem to be well made – nothing feels plasticy or like it’ll easily fall apart. The rain stick is pretty but I wish the holes were smaller so the sound would last a little longer – it’s pretty brief. The kalimba and steel drum are both so fun to play and seem very well tuned, to my untrained ear at least. They’re sturdy and have some weight to them. I will say the kalimba is tough for my kids to play, but easy for me with bigger/stronger thumbnails. They like to play it with a guitar pick. I wasn’t a fan of the wave drum myself, as it’s a bit of a grating sound with all the BBs inside, but my youngest loves it because it’s the loudest and he can be a menace with it. Oh, and the tuning fork can be painfully ear-piercing if you really give it a whack – definitely use light taps with that one. For the tiny cymbals, they’re just ok but again the kids find them so entertaining. All in all, I think the set is a great value for what you get and there’s a ton of variety here compared to other kids’ instrument sets!
Fun Musical Set for Little Kids
This is a fun little instrument set that gives young children a chance to explore different sounds and make music together. There are enough instruments included for a few kids to play at the same time, which makes it perfect for creating their own little “band.”
As you might expect, it can get pretty noisy—but that’s part of the fun! The variety keeps kids interested, and they enjoy trying the different instruments.
The quality is good for a children’s set. The steel tongue drum isn’t comparable to a higher-end instrument, but I wouldn’t expect it to be at this price point. For toddlers and young children, it’s perfectly appropriate and holds up well to play.
Overall, this is a nice introduction to musical instruments. It encourages creativity, imaginative play, and sharing, making it a great choice for young children who love music.
Unique and Great Quality Musical Instruments!
Love love love this Montessori musical kit. It has such unique instruments that can be used for many ages and many years. What a great way to expose kids to different kinds of instruments and sounds. It also comes with a small music book so your child can play a few songs as they fall in love with this. I might enjoy it as much as the kids do.
The Kalimba is a great size for young kids but not tuned to perfection. It is good enough to be able to understand the song being played. It does not have the unique tone that an expensive Kalimba offers.
$40 is quite reasonable for such unique instruments. These are made from strong materials and made to last. These would be expensive to buy separately.
The pink is soft and sweet. I bought blue as a gift for a 2 year old boy and he loved this!! These make impressive and good quality gifts. It could use a little bit better directions but is mostly self explanatory.
I highly recommend this. I plan to make this a regular gift item when buying for young kids.
Perfect kids instrument set!
What a wonderful little set of the not so typical musical instruments for kids! The steel tongue drum and kalimba are in a simple C key, making them simple and easy to start playing. The song book is perfect for getting going as well. Everything feels sturdy, and so far nothing has suffered the ill effects of a rambunctious 1 and 3 year old. Possibly my only complaint is that the tuning fork is finicky and unless you hit it JUST right the sound is nearly non-existent. That is simply a learning curve though, and I’m sure over time both kiddos will get the hang of it eventually. For the price, I honestly like this set better than any of the typical instrument sets you can get anywhere else!
A Creative, Calming, and Addictive Little Music Se
This is such a creative musical set for little ones and, honestly, for adults too. It’s surprisingly comprehensive, with each piece sized perfectly for small toddler hands and grownup hands that inevitably end up playing along. There are so many options to explore that my kiddo spent a long time rotating through everything, testing sounds, tapping rhythms, and giggling at the different tones.
His absolute favorite (much to my dismay) was the tuning fork. He treated it like the world’s most important scientific instrument and kept “testing” it on every surface he could find. Meanwhile, the mini steel tongue drum is so soothing. It has that soft, meditative tone that calms the room. I found myself playing it long after he wandered off.
The whole set is adorable, wellmade, and giftable. It feels thoughtful rather than gimmicky, and it encourages openended play, sensory exploration, and early musical curiosity. If you have a musical kiddo, this is a set I can happily recommend.
Neat toys, not the best quality
Fun toys for my 4 year old, it’s great to give her a variety to play with. A few of them feel somewhat poor quality though. The kalimba arrived with several arms bent to where they were touching so I had to bend them back, and even now it doesn’t easily play clean sounding notes. The steel drum is awesome, probably the favorite followed by the tuning fork. Overall I’m happy with it for my kid but don’t expect anything that will last years of playing with.

What a fantastic, well made music set for kids! These instruments are well varied, well constructed, beautiful, and fun to play. Got them for my grandson who is very active, and so I’m happy that these are well made and sturdy. Unfortunately, he thought the tambourine was a drum, so instead of shaking it, he’s constantly hitting it, and boy is it loud. Other than that, the set is perfect for him.
The finger cymbals are great but even as an adult, they are hard to use bc they are loose enough that they will drop down, hanging, and not stay in place. They should’ve just stretchy elastic that was much tighter than whatever they have on here. There’s also a little wooden star, i think, with metal tines. Not easy to use, either, but well made, and if you flick them just right, they make noise.
The metal drum style thing, with the hand held bongers (don’t know the name) is cool, as are the tunning fork and mallet thing. He really loves them. The rain stick is cool, too, but could’ve used more beads. I just now realized it was supposed to come with an instruction booklet. I didn’t specifically see it when he opened it, but that might help with using it. I think overall, it’s a great set and it’s mostly very well made. Just a lot of the things that are supposed to make music don’t seem to do it very easily. The star thing is cool but there is no way he could’ve gotten it to play. And running the wooden ball on a stick across it did nothing. You kind of have to flick them with a fingernail. Perhaps we were just doing it wrong, but it isn’t intuitive, and the sounds made aren’t particularly pretty, but it’s a great into to music set, is very pretty, and is well made (although the drum and rain stick are both constructed with pretty thin plastic). I think the price was fair. A cool gift overall.
Nice set for kids to explore
Pretty neat little set of instruments for kids. The star of the show is definitely the steel tongue drum. I’m seeing those, of similar looking quality, listed alone anywhere from 20-50 dollars, which seems in line with this. I liked being able to get a bit more range of things for the kids to explore, though, so this was a pretty good deal for that.
The steel tongue drum has a nice color to it. The decorative details seem to be stickers that, while applied decently now, likely won’t last long. I don’t mind this.
The kalimba is decent. Seems a little lesser quality than others I’ve seen online, but it’s good enough. Little hands might struggle some with it, and I had to adjust it a bit to get it sounding right.
The rain stick is satisfying and, even though it’s plastic, seems to be decent quality as well. One kid really liked playing with it and, honestly, I did get the appeal.
The rest… is okay-ish. The wave drum seems flimsy and the cymbals weren’t much to write home about. The tuning fork quickly got put away because that was a terrible noise for me to endure.
I don’t know if it was just me, but the instruction booklet on playing some simple songs just didn’t seem right.
It was good for my application, but I could see the argument in buying just a steel drum and a kalimba for round about the same price.
