This memory foam lumbar pillow arrived vacuum sealed, but it expanded back to its full shape in about ten minutes after opening the package. The foam feels supportive with just the right amount of rebound, so it keeps its shape well without feeling overly firm. Helps with my herniated disc
I bought this after my physical therapist suggested sleeping more elevated. I’d been using a stack of regular pillows which just flattened out by 3am and left me sliding down the bed. This thing actually holds its shape all night because of the air chambers inside. The angle is steep enough to make a difference but not so much that I feel like I’m sitting up.
The airbag part is interesting—it’s not squishy like regular memory foam. When you press into it there’s this slight give and then it pushes back. Took me two nights to get used to the sensation but now I actually prefer it. Keeps my neck from cranking at a weird angle like foam wedges do.
Cover comes off easy for washing which matters because I sweat. The fabric itself doesn’t trap heat like I thought it would.
Only thing is you can’t really use this for reading in bed the way the title suggests. The angle works for sleeping but if you try to prop yourself up higher it just compresses funny and your lower back ends up arched. Fine for what I needed it for though. I deflate it when my in-laws visit and need the guest bed back to normal, then pump it up again after. Takes maybe two minutes.
