Nice quality wood and a sturdy finished house, but the mounting hardware could be bette
I’m very impressed with the quality of this squirrel house. The wood feels substantial and well made, and it had a really pleasant cedar-like smell when I opened the package. Assembly was fairly straightforward, and the finished house is very sturdy.
My main issue was the hardware/instructions. The instructions refer to “various assembly screws” without clearly identifying the different sizes or which ones are intended for each step, so there was some trial and error during assembly. I also managed to wear down the included screwdriver, although that may have been more user error (I was probably too aggressive, haha).
The included mounting hardware wasn’t particularly practical for attaching the house to a tree. Once the screws pass through the wood, there isn’t much length left to penetrate the tree. I ended up using my own screws and added an extra mounting point near the bottom to make it more secure.
I installed it on a large oak where I regularly see squirrels, so now I’m just hoping they decide to move in! Overall, the house itself is very nicely made and looks great; I’d just recommend having your own appropriate mounting screws on hand.
Great Concept, but the Kit Presentation Could Be Bette
I love the concept of this wooden squirrel house and think it will make a unique Christmas gift for my father. I like that it provides an outdoor nesting and shelter option for squirrels and includes thoughtful features like a predator guard and sloped roof. I also don’t mind that it requires assembly, since it’s sold as a kit.
My main disappointment is how the kit is presented. The individual wooden pieces simply arrive together in a plain box. Instructions for assembling the squirrel house are included, but there isn’t a picture showing what the completed house should look like. Having a reference image would make assembly easier and would also make the kit much nicer to give as a gift.
Since I’m gifting mine, I plan to print a picture from the listing so my father can see what he’s building before opening everything. That works as a solution, but I don’t think it should be necessary. Including a simple photo of the finished squirrel house with the instructions would make this kit feel much more complete and gift-ready.
Easy and fun to assemble, sturdy when finished and looks grea
This squirrel nesting box was so much fun to assemble with clear, easytofollow directions. All the pieces are thick and wellmade, and every part fits together perfectly.
Once fully assembled, the box feels incredibly sturdy and boasts a generous, large size. The components arrive prelightly stained and sealed, so you can assemble and hang it right away with no extra prep work needed.
Positioning makes all the difference! Place it away from direct southern sunlight to avoid overheating; a spot with morning sun and mostly shade through the rest of the day works wonderfully. Set it in the right location, and squirrels will absolutely find and use this cozy home.
To extend its service life for many generations of squirrels, simply apply a thin coat of water sealer at the end of each nesting season. It’s a fantastic wildlife addition for any backyard!
This squirrel house comes packaged in a large box and requires assembly, and the whole building process is really enjoyable. It is crafted from genuine solid wood, and all necessary screws are included in the package. The instruction manual is incredibly clear and straightforward to follow. Even my 7yearold kid could assemble it mostly by himself with only a little assistance, which made it such a fun family project.
This nesting house features great protective design to keep squirrels safe from potential predators. There is also a nice porch area where squirrels can relax and enjoy shade. Conveniently, the house can be opened up whenever you need it, whether for cleaning purposes or setting up a wildlife camera. I may not use these features right now, but it’s reassuring to have this practical option available.
I’m eagerly waiting for squirrels to move into this lovely wooden home. It is a wonderful wildlife addition for any backyard!
Cute and Practical Squirrel House
I’ve had outdoor wildlife houses before, so I was looking for something that would be practical for backyard visitors while also looking nice in the yard. This is a great squirrel/owl house, and it adds a fun little touch to the outdoor space. Such a cute squirrel on top! That detail gives it some personality without making it look out of place.
It was relatively easy to put together. The parts were straightforward, and once assembled, the house feels sturdy and suitable for outdoor use. The natural wood look also fits nicely with the surroundings and should blend in well with a garden, yard, or wooded area.
One feature I particularly like is the front opening for cleanout. Having an accessible panel makes it much easier to remove old nesting material or debris when needed instead of having to take the whole house down. That’s a solid touch for anyone who plans to maintain the house over time.
The sloped roof is another practical detail for an outdoor house, and the overall construction feels durable for regular outdoor use. The entrance size gives it a good amount of interior space while keeping the design fairly compact on the outside. It is a considerate design for wildlife, with interior as well as exterior ledges and steps. We painted the underside of interior and exterior area light blue, to help deter wasps (supposedly they do not like pale blue surfaces).
I also like that this isn’t just something functional – it has a decorative quality too. The little squirrel on the front makes it fun to look at, and I could see this being a nice addition for anyone who enjoys watching backyard wildlife.
For the money, I think it offers good value. You get a purpose-built wildlife house with mounting options, a predator-guard design, a roof that helps shed water, and an easy-access area for cleaning. The combination of those features makes it more useful than a basic decorative box.
Overall, I’m happy with it. It was relatively easy to assemble, feels durable, has a nice natural appearance, and the cleanout access is a feature I’ll appreciate when maintenance is needed. And honestly, that cute squirrel on top is probably going to get as much attention as the actual house.
A wonderful house for smaller wildlife
Have you ever wondered where smaller wildlife live and how they survive during cold/winter weather? I have, and have also researched how best to help them. So when I saw this outdoor squirrel box I nabbed it. Watching their habits is so delightful and now I have a protective box for them to hunker down in and be safe. The wooden box itself seems well made and designed well for my little friends. Plus, it’s accessible from the front for cleaning if need be. I am excited to see who the residents are that move into it. I do have a fair amount of both chipmunks and squirrels, however, the squirrels seem to dominate the landscape at this point. Life is good and I am excited that I now have a home for a smaller wildlife family.

This wonderful wooden squirrel house has brought so much joy and fun to our backyard!
We installed it in our wooded backyard area, and we didn’t have high expectations at first. It wasn’t long before our local black squirrel discovered this cozy home, and now it has become the home base for him and his little family. It is endlessly entertaining watching them come and go as they enjoy their new shelter.
We placed some snacks nearby to help them get comfortable. Once they realized how safe and sturdy this box is, they settled in perfectly. They absolutely love hanging out on the platform, and the builtin predator guard gives us great peace of mind with extra protection for the squirrels.
Installation is simple and hasslefree. It mounts securely to the tree and feels really solid. It blends beautifully into the backyard environment without looking bulky or outofplace.
