Ultra-Slim Pancake Design, Quick Autofocus, and Fantastic Everyday Portability
This tiny prime lens is an absolute joy to use for casual daily photography, street shooting, and travel. It sits so flush against the camera body that the whole setup easily slips into a small jacket pocket or everyday sling bag without feeling heavy or intrusive. Despite its remarkably slim profile, the autofocus feels quick, quiet, and responsive, effortlessly locking onto subjects and tracking motion whether you are snapping quick candid moments with friends or capturing scenic town views on an afternoon stroll.

The field of view is wonderfully versatile for everyday walkaround scenes, giving you a natural, spacious perspective that works great for environmental portraits, architecture, and casual food shots. Image colors look vibrant and clear straight out of the camera, with pleasant sharpness across the frame that makes photo walks super rewarding. It turns a standard camera into an ultra-portable, grab-and-go creative tool that encourages you to bring your gear everywhere and shoot more often. It is a fantastic, fun addition to any lightweight camera kit.

EDC worthy and pocketable on a full frame camera
This lens turned out to be so much better than i was anticipating. The lens is very compact and when put on my Sony a7r2, the entire setup becomes pocketable. The lens has a built in lens cap that does not take up any extra space when deployed by the switch on the front of the lens.

The image quality from this compact, tiny little lens is very good. I was not looking for a fully corrected lens with the most technologically advanced lens coatings, but rather a lens that can capture everyday life with a character that makes the images timeless and unique. This is now my new favorite EDC lens for family and travel. The images are sharp, color accurate, and did not produce any distracting chromatic aberration or defects.

The lens is very simple in design. It does not have a focus wheel nor an aperture wheel. The autofocus motor works quickly and quietly. I thought it was a bit slow initially, but after switching out the camera battery for a newer, fully charged battery, autofocus performance noticeably improved. I tried and tried to listen for autofocus noise from the motor and could not hear any in normal environments with ambient noises, which will make it great for capturing short clips of the kids and on vacation.

This is one of the best pancake lenses for the price.

    Kase Does It Agai
So, I am big fan of this lens design. It is ridiculously small, and that’s probably my favorite thing about it. It barely adds anything to the camera, so I can throw the whole setup in a bag without feeling like I’m carrying a brick around like with regular lenses.

It mounts securely to my Sony and stays there. The autofocus is quick and accurate, and I haven’t had any issues with it hunting around trying to find focus. The image is sharp, and the fixed aperture hasn’t been a problem for the way I’m using it.

The sliding front cap is also a great idea. There’s no separate lens cap to lose, which is one less small piece of equipment I’m going to inevitably misplace.

Works well as a body cap, pretty decent image quality all things considered
I’ve been using Kase filters for awhile now and thought it was interesting they were making lenses now as well. This 24mm is a pretty wide lens, it’s very similar to the wide angle camera most higher end cellphones have, and while I generally prefer 35mm for street photography, I do like the 24mm for nature photos at the various forest preserves around me. The slower speed isn’t really a factor or much of an issue for daytime nature photography which makes it a pretty good fit for me. Considering the price range it’s in, I don’t really have any complaints with the image quality. The corners are a little soft but nothing really of note, it’s pretty sharp overall and I don’t see any distortion from the wider angle. Colors and contrast also look good and I think it produces pleasing pictures for the most part. Build quality is actually quite nice and it’s extremely lightweight, which is impressive for having autofocus. It also has a really neat built-in lens cover that’s manipulated using a lever which I think is a really cool touch. Taken as what it is, which is basically a body cap to protect the camera sensor, it’s surprisingly good, which coupled with the built-in lens cover, makes it super quick to just pick up my camera and snap a picture without the production of removing the body cap, attaching a lens, removing the lens cover and then shooting. It’s obviously not comparable to more traditional lenses, but for the price, I think it’s really solid and a good value in general.

    Very Good
Kase makes good products in my opinion. I love some of their filters and other accessories. So I was not surprised to see them spreading their wings a bit and trying out a lens or two.

The focal length is a safe bet at 24mm. The aperture is also a safe bet. F/3.8 will yield a bit more focus depth at close distances, and still be bright enough for most occasions.

Be aware that this is a fixed aperture. Your camera cannot dial in any aperture other than 3.8. It’s a 24mm, AF f/3.8…period.

The AF is pretty quick, and in a 24mm, it’s more than enough. I can hear it at work all the time though. It’s a quiet hum but it’s there…even when focus is achieved. Not a problem for still photography, and this is not designed much for video, so it’s a small niggle. No one other than you will hear it. I live in a very quiet place, so you may not hear it at all.

It’s very lightweight, and the fit and finish is pretty good. You will hardly know it is attached to your camera.

The lens is protected by a shield that can cover or uncover using a small slide on the front off the lens. It works well.

This is a street photography camera lens in a sense. You set auto ISO and what shutter you want, and then just image away. You know longer have to even think about what settings you need to be on. That’s the main attraction here as for functionality. It’s very simple and yet quite capable.

Optics…Have to give them 5 stars here. I provided a few examples…the bricks are at the closest distance…about a foot away. Nice and crisp. The flower image was taken a bit further back, but it also is very sharp, with a nice out of focus background. The wide landscape image is showing good color contrast and correction. The greens and blues are accurate. For street photography at 3.8…everything a few feet ahead and further will all be in focus, which is desirable for street photography.

The build is nice, the lens worked flawlessly. The AF is nimble but hums quietly (not a bother to me). The optics are very good, no sharpening in post process was needed at all.

For what this lens is trying to do at this price point, it’s a 5 star lens. For less than a hundred bucks, you are ready to go catch great images, and are basically settings free. You can concentrate on your subjects that way. See something happening fast? Just image away…you will get what you want. Auto ISO, set the shutter speed you want….and just get after it. This lens will perform well for that function.

    Kase does it again.
