I love this portable Bluetooth speaker from Energizer! I needed a portable speaker to carry around with me in my home. I have Alexa devices in my home and often listen to music from them, but until now have not had a decent speaker through which to play it. Additionally, I have a great Smart TV in my bedroom, but no sound bar, and it occurred to me that a Bluetooth speaker might come in handy for certain movies and shows. This Bluetooth speaker from Energizer definitely fulfills my needs for a Bluetooth speaker.
Yes, it is called an outdoor Bluetooth speaker, presumably because of the IPX6 waterproof rating. And yes, I will definitely be using the speaker on my deck from time to time, and I like that it can be protected from an unexpected rain shower. It certainly appears to be built to the standards of the waterproof rating.
The speaker is very compact and fairly lightweight, but still clearly a heavy duty product. The sound quality is outstanding! Given the price range and the size of the speaker, the sound coming from it is high quality! For a personal Bluetooth speaker, it’s really outstanding!
It also looks amazing! I love the lighting on either side of the speaker. It’s great ambience and great fun. But, if you don’t want to drain your battery, turn it off by pressing the “M” (Mode?) button on top of the speaker housing.
The bass boost button on the speaker works to enhance the bass sound. It does somewhat muffle the upper registers, but what bass boost doesn’t? It actually does sound great if you are listening to music where enhancing the bass sound improves the music. Mostly, I do not use bass boost, but it’s there if you need it!
The speaker comes with an auxiliary cable and shoulder carrying strap. I’ve had no trouble pairing this speaker from fairly great distances with my tv, my various Alexa devices in my phone. I have been using the speaker for 3 days now, and have yet to need to recharge the battery. I believe the claims that the battery will last for “up to 24 hours of play time”. In addition to holding a long charge, this device offers the option to charge your phone from it. Or anything that needs charging if it can be charged with the USB-C cable. The speaker also has a TWS card which will allow you to pair it with another speaker for true stereo sound.
This speaker is affordable, has great sound, is lightly waterproof, portable, and it’s great looking. I highly recommend it for those looking for a mid-range wireless Bluetooth speaker!
The energizer outdoor Bluetooth speaker was ordered to play music outside around my above ground pool. The first thing was the mention that it is waterproof. I didn’t test it by dropping it in the pool, or spraying it with a hose, but the buttons and cable connections seem tight enough to withstand most of the outdoor challenges it will face. The case is strong and the color appearance (yellow and black) are attractive as it has a beachy/pool look about it.
When it arrived, it was almost fully charged. It easily and quickly connected via Bluetooth to my Android phone. I took the phone to over 30 ft to see how far they would connect and it still stayed connected and played.
While it was playing, I looked through the instruction booklet and pushed this and that button to see how it changed the lights on the side, added a “bit” of base, and found the “sweet spot” to charge my phone wirelessly on the top of the speaker. There are a few different jacks in the back for charging, the unit, or using it as a power bank. I don’t think that I will ever use the TWS feature when outdoors.
After charging, I played it for about 8 hours and charged my phone on top of it a couple times. There is still plenty of charge to double the time played and phone charge.
I am giving the Energizer Bluetooth speaker 4 stars and state that it is an OK value for the money. The first reason is the sound quality. It is pretty good and didn’t distort at full volume but is a bit shy of total clarity in the upper frequencies. The bass button doesn’t add all that much base if you were wanting the boom, boom, boom described in the advertisement, I didn’t hear it. I expected a bit more from the size of the speakers. Last, this unit is pretty large, I’m not sure if I want to haul something this size on a “hike” or try to fit it in my kayak with all the other gear that I have to carry.

The Energizer BTS77 “Thump Box” packs a serious punch for its size. I’ve been using it in my garage and backyard, and it easily fills the space with crisp sound and surprisingly heavy, impressive bass—especially with the Bass Boost turned ON at around 70% volume.

Great connection and fantastic sound
So I don’t have a lot of experience with Bluetooth speakers so I don’t have that much to compare this one to. However, of the speakers that I have used, this one ranks as one of the best.
I didn’t even need to read the instructions to figure out how to get it connected to my phone. Connecting was really simple and fast and has been flawless and quick every time.
I went all the way to the other end of the house while playing audio. It was definitely past the thirty feet limitation of the connection. It did eventually start skipping out a little bit but I was still impressed with the range. It was down a hallway and behind several walls. I can keep my phone on me and move around my house while the speaker stays in one spot and keeps consistently playing music.
I have tried spoken audio and I found that to be very clear and easy to listen to and understand. This speaker will work for a whole range of things.
I really like that as an outdoor speaker, it also has the ability to double as a phone charger. I tested that feature using the cord that came with the speaker. It did charge my phone without a problem and it was fast but it was not a lightning charger.
They include an aux cable and a shoulder strap as well.
I was thinking that this could make a really great gift. Especially for those people who love having their music in the outdoors. It also works great for me to have indoors. I can listen to audio books or music very conveniently now. I love being able to leave the speaker on a single shelf or move it with me as I change rooms. It is way better than having my music play through the TV.
Oh and I have to say the battery life is impressive. I have had it on for four hours and had it playing audio for at least a solid hour and charged my phone a little bit. The battery still reads at 100%. I did not have the volume very high. Higher volume will, of course, drain the battery faster. But I’m still very impressed.
Overall, so far, I’m very impressed and feel the speaker deserves five stars. It has delivered everything it has promised so far. I haven’t gotten it wet but I have no reason to doubt its waterproof qualities as well.
One of the best speakers I've had.
This is a great speaker. I got it for my garage when I’m working out there and it’s been perfect. The sound quality is good, decent bass with plenty of sound and volume available. It’s bigger than I thought it would be and the weight is heavy enough to make it feel solid, plus I don’t need to worry about it vibrating off my shelf and falling.
The battery life on this has been outstanding, I’ve only had to charge it a couple of times so far mostly because of the wireless phone charger built in. I can turn this on and play my music and set my phone on top of it, my phone is generally charged back up when I’m done. The functions are easy to use and for the most part make sense although the included instructions are pretty vague, so it’s a good thing this is intuitive to use. Connecting my phone was super easy to do, just a few swipes and everything is connected and working.
It’s a little on the pricey side, but if you consider the sound quality and the fact you can use it as a wireless powerbank, it’s absolutely worth it.
This is such a powerful speaker with great bass. My family enjoys this portable Bluetooth speaker so much at home and on the go. The battery life is significant,l. We played music and podcasts on it for so many days while using a couple of hours of play every day without it being discharged. Although it’s portable, it is pretty bulky and a bit heavy, but if we do camping or some picnic outings, it’s not a big deal since we’ve just put it in the car to transport. I’m really amazed by the quality of the sound and the bass it offers. The other thing I really love is the wireless phone charging platform on top of the speaker. I just put my phone on top of the speaker, and it charges while the music is playing. This is fantastic. And I love that I don’t have to put any charging cables in it. My phone is so easy to put on and take off the speaker. The handle is comfortable to carry the speaker with, but it is not foldable. I wish it would be. The speaker is durable and high quality. The controls have silicone buttons that are easy to press and are pretty responsive. It connects to my phone super fast after the first connection is established. I love the color-changing sides in the form of squares. I can choose several modes or I can choose to turn them off completely. We also tested this speaker with our smart TV; however, we didn’t find that it can go as loud as we wanted it to be. So it wasn’t as enjoyable as a TV speaker. But as a music podcast or whatever else speaker that is connected to the phone, it is very powerful and highly enjoyable. I really recommend this speaker to anyone.
