Overall this is a pretty great 4 slot toaster that can handle bagels and burger buns just as well as regular bread.
Pros:
– 4 generously wide and long (ish) slots
– Low effort controls (pushing the toasting handle is low resistance compared to other toasters)
– Quiet pop-up rather than a violent slam that conventional toasters seem to have
– Cool touch casing
– Ability to lift toast to check browning without stopping is a very handy feature
– Single slot mode to save power
Cons:
– Although the main mechanisms are sturdy metal, there’s a lot of plastic on this toaster and it feels a bit cheap and flimsy
– Toasting level controls have very little friction and no detents making it easy to nudge them and not notice
– No light to show you that it’s toasting. When toasting buns they can snag and not pop up fully so you think it’s still toasting when it fact it has stopped and not popped up completely. This has caught me off guard a few times. It would be so much better if they had even a single light to show it it’s toasting, but one indicator per slot would be very useful.
– Pop-up is very quiet and weak – in addition to what’s mentioned above, you may not hear the toaster has finished and just forget about your toast until it has gone cold if you’re not paying attention.
– It’s massive and you need a lot of space on the counter for it.
It does make good toast with fairly even toasting and using the bagel mode to toast burger buns is a winner for sure. Despite it’s downsides, the pros mostly make up for it, and we are left with a toaster that’s displaced our old long-slot 2 slot toaster permanently.
At this price point, it’s good value and you’re really looking at double the price and going commercial if you want to take the next step up in quality for an all-metal toaster with equivalent functions.
Toasted 4 items at once & allowed checking the browning level without stopping the cycle.
This toaster can handle 4 items at once that can be wide or narrow and is made by Cuisinart. It is a gray color and has two individual, and removable, crumb trays plus dual controls for bagel, defrost, 7 levels, single, and 30 seconds. It arrives in a box that has cardboard protection on the top and the bottom. I included a picture with the levers held down while empty to show how narrow the cages can go. One feature that is appreciated is that you can lift either lever to check the browning/toasting of your item without stopping the heat cycle. Each of the two bays has a mark to show which one is for a single item if not heating two. I also included a picture of that. I tested it by placing fairly thick bread into two slots and a split English muffin in the other two and set both to heat setting 4. I did raise the levers to check browning and decided to stop the bread side since they appeared nicely toasted. I let the muffins heat a bit longer, and they also reached a decent level of browning. This toaster did the job of toasting 4 items at once and allowed me to see the level of browning. It worked great. The power cord was a decent length compared to other items with a short cord. The only thing bad about 4 slot toasters is that they take up more counter space.
The Mac Daddy Of Toasters
This thing is a beast, in the best way! It is definitely an XL toaster, and the slots are nice and wide. Bagels and thick toast will fit without a problem and I appreciate having four slots, considering that we have a large family to feed.
Toasting consistency is on point and it has toasted to the expected levels so far. It is new so there may be a slight burning smell at first, but it should dissappear with use and is normal.
The color is absolutely perfect, but the finish is what really makes it stand out. It has a really neat texture that gives it a high end look. The controls are large and easy to use, and I also like the separate crumb trays at the bottom for easy cleanup.
It does take up a decent amount of counter space, but that’s expected with a toaster this size. This thing is awesome and looks great sitting on the counter.
It is a great deal for the price if your willing to spend a little more than average. I would definitely consider ordering this again when the time comes to replace. I’m very pleased with my newest kitchen gadget.
Stylish, Working Toaste
This Cuisinart 4-slot toaster is impressive. It has a sleek design and the matte gray finish is very nice – fitting in with my other kitchen decor perfectly. The extra-wide slots are good for different types of bread, including bagels and thicker slices, and I love that it can accommodate my extra-long sourdough bread better than my previous toaster. A little bit still sticks out because the slices are long, but not nearly as much as my other one did.
It has several convenient settings, including defrost and options for toasting one slice or using multiple slots. The adjustable dial lets you control browning/toasting time, and you can also use it to cancel the cycle when needed. The controls are simple, easy to use, feel durable, and are nicely designed. There are also crumb catching trays on both sides to help make cleanup easy. They slide out so you can empty the crumbs instead of having them collect inside the toaster.
At $59, I initially thought it was a little pricey compared with what I paid for my last toaster, but now, I think the quality, design, features, and trusted Cuisinart brand name make it well worth the price.
We consolidated our small appliances when we moved roughly five years ago. We kept our toaster oven and ditched our toaster. Now that we have impatient toddlers, the time it takes to make toast or frozen waffles in our toaster oven is too long. We needed a toaster again and ordered the stainless steel version to match our large appliances.
This is without a doubt the nicest toaster I’ve ever had. The slots are larger than most for larger or unusual pieces of bread like sourdough. The push buttons have indicator lights so you know they are on, and they actually work! I never knew if the bagel button on our previous toaster ever did anything because it sure didn’t seem like it. The indicator lights are clear and the stampings on the top make it a piece of cake to understand the proper orientation.
While toasting, the lever can be raised to briefly check on the progress. I used this combined with the +30 second button the first few times I used it until I figured out the setting I liked best with our usual bread. We keep one side set for toast and the other set for frozen waffles.
Each side has its own smaller crumb tray rather than one large one to make cleaning easier. I also like that the trays are accessible from the front rather than the back. The stainless steel wipes clean easily.
For roughly $80 at the time of review this is an expensive toaster. It does have a number of convenient features that I believe justifies the price.
Amazing toaste
My last toaster toasted the bread unevenly, no matter what I did. Funnyit, too, is a Cuisinart. But, I know how much products improve and change over time, so since I’d been putting up with my old toaster for years, decided to try the newest version. Really glad I did.
This is a gorgeous toaster, really well made, high quality materials. I like that the finish will be easier to maintain than the old stainless one.
It has some really nice features, too. The defrost button works better when putting frozen bread into the toaster than the older one did. There is a separate button for toasting a single slice, and get this, a button to add 30 seconds. No more pushing the arm down and checking multiple times. Also, to check on the progress of the toasting, one simply has to lift the handle slowly and it pushes the slice up for inspection, rather than popping up. Each side has separate but equal controls, which is very helpful.
Of course, the critical thingit does a nice, even job of toasting.
Very soundly made, should last a very long while. Gorgeous, with a nice long cord, tho it does hit one of my pet peeves. I like the plug end of the cord, any cord, to have one of those notches for securing the cord when it’s wound up and done. This one doesn’t have that, really have to wonder why. Could not be any easier to use. Not too heavy, even though it’s a 4 slot toaster, which is important to me, since I put it away in a cupboard after use, and my arms are messed up, so things another would find light (like my spousal unit) are much heavier for me. I am able to manage this toaster just fine. Another nice thing is separate crumb trays, in the front this time, much easier to deal with than when they are located in the rear of the machine.
For the quality and 4 slots, the value is very nice.
I really like this toaster! I appreciate that it’s from Cuisinart, a brand I already know and recognize, and it feels well-made and durable. Despite being a four-slot toaster, it doesn’t take up TOO much counter space and looks sleek, which is nice.
The four slots are really convenient for an average household, especially when you’re making breakfast for multiple people. More importantly, it actually toasts everything I’ve put in it evenly so far, including regular toast, waffles, and English muffins (though they were on the thinner side).
I LOVE all of the different functions on this. I really appreciate having the option to toast a single slice rather than needing to run an empty slot, as well as being able to add 30 seconds to the cycle. One of my favorite features, though, is the ability to lift the bread up and check it without canceling the entire cycle. If it’s not quite as toasted as I want, I can just put it back down and let it continue rather than starting over from scratch (or even add a little more time). It’s a small thing, but I’ve found myself using it more than I expected.
The seven shade settings also give you plenty of control over how toasted you want things, and the high-lift lever makes it easy to get smaller items like English muffins out without having to fish around inside the toaster.
Cleanup is easy as well. The crumb trays come out easily, so you can empty and clean them without having to turn the entire toaster upside down or anything ridiculous like that.
