CRAFTLORE 3-Inch Shorties Interchangeable Circular Knitting Needle Set- Great quality!
I have a set of Knitter’s Pride Nova Platina (I paid a similar price point), as well as some odds and ends from other brands/ styles such as Chiaogoo, Knitter’s Pride, etc . I decided to grab these because my other needles are longer so it makes it hard to do anything circular that’s smaller. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but I was quite surprised by the quality.
– The case is not only super cute, but it’s also quite durable. The outer casing has a fairly thick backing on it and the interior pocket is a thick velvet. It also comes with a small plastic removable pouch for other accessories. I wouldn’t be afraid to toss this in my bag and carry it around.
– The cables are small, but plastic coated steel cables that move easily. These feel much more durable than my Knitter’s pride cables (though I do like the different colors for each size with my other set). I also love that the stoppers are a decently sized metal piece.
– The needles themselves also feel great and very comparable in quality to my other needles. I can’t speak for ease of use- I usually use bigger needles, so I’m still a little clumsy with any smaller needle. I also really love that this has multiple sizes, so there are a lot of options for whatever project I’m working on.
All and all well worth the value and I’m glad I grabbed this set!
Compact Travel Set of Short Interchangeables
This is not my first knitting needle set, but it’s quickly becoming my favorite travel set. The case is small–barely bigger than my phone–but it holds all 12 pairs of needles and cords. The set includes needle tips all the way down to a 0, and up to a US 9. Because the tips are the short 3″ kind, these interchangeables can make the 16″ needles for hat knitting, as well as 12″ shorter ones for sleeves and baby hats. The steel needles are smooth and pointy, but surprisingly heavy, at least at first; I think these are solid steel and not hollow. The sizes and brand name are laser-etched onto each tip, and won’t rub off, so there’s never a question which needles go together.
The tips come in a small padded case, with an all-around zipper and a zipped pocket for the cords and stoppers. It’s so easy to fit the set in a small pocket in my knit bag, and knowing I have all the extra sizes is reassuring, when I’m out at a knit group or traveling.
The only downside to this set is that it’s incompatible with other major brands, like Knit Pro and Chiao Goo, so the tips and cords that come with the set are irreplaceable. I can’t switch these tips with my other sets, although that’s not necessarily a unique problem with this brand. For the price and the quality, these are kind of a screaming deal for interchangeable needles, and one that I not only like having for myself, but that I’d gift to any of my knitting friends.

Where have these been all my life? I have several sets of interchangeable needles for various purposes, including a nickel-plated shorties set from a popular brand. But, ANY interchangeable set I’ve looked at that is a reasonable price typically will not include anything smaller than a US 4, which is the pits if you are like me and absolutely loathe using double pointed needles. I have a handful of fixed circular needles but they are annoying to store and rarely come in a short-needle variety. This set knocked it iht of the park. The sizes go all the way down to US 0 and the set includes several lengths of cable, so you can work even the teeniest of sleeves on a circular needle with these. The points are nice and sharp and the joins are well made and screw securely into place (the small rubber grip and turning key help!). AND – I have never seen this before, but the cable heads are not fixed to the cable, meaning they rotate freely. Say goodbye to awkward knitting moments when the cable is not cooperating because it is in a fixed position relative to the needle tips. If you know, you KNOW! I am so happy I found these – and they come in a cute little case with a small sewn-in zipper pocket for the cables and other small tools. 11/10 stars! Very affordable and easy to take along
This is a very compact set of knitting needles that you can easily take along for any project. I have used these for knitting a hat and they worked great after I passed the increase section. I prefer circular needles after a certain point because it is easier to knit rounds without transitioning from one needle to the other with double points. If speed is the point circulars are the best if the process of knitting to relaxing then your choice.
There are a few things to point out. The three-inch point is too long for the two smallest circular cords, but you can still use the small cords to connect to each other for a longer cord. Another thing is I am still not sure how to use the tightening key. I finally figured out how to use the end cap. Take off the needle end then use the end cap attached to the end of the cable to keep from having your project coming off the end.
I almost never go a day without knitting so I appreciate new ideas. This is a good one.
handy for small diameter projects
These 2″ short tip knitting needles are great for making things like children’s hats, sweater sleeves, socks, and the like. I enjoy not having to fool with either double-pointed needles or the magic loop.
The set includes needles ranging from size 0 to size 9. Each needle is clearly marked with both the US and mm sizes. I did find the size 0 needles hard to read due to the fineness of the needle.
The set includes the normal goodies one would expect with such a set – 4 cables, 4 end caps, 2 cable connectors (to make longer cables when needed), two tightening keys, and a non-slip pad. Everything is packed in a very attractive, very compact zipper case.
The needles themselves are very nice to use. I tried them with both wool and acrylic yarns and everything worked perfectly. I’ve used shorties before, so I was comfortable with them almost immediately.
The cables are nice as well. I love that they’re very flexible and don’t have a problem with “memory”. I don’t need to soak them in hot water before use, like with some of the plastic cables on the market.
Price-wise, these are a very good value.
Really high quality se
I was honestly shocked at the high quality of this set. It’s better than another set I have that I paid almost twice as much for. The joins are smooth and the needles are well made. The cables have no memory in them at all. None. This set includes a little grippy pad to help you hold the needle in place while using an included key to tighten the cable. The case is absolutely stunning. True perfection the likes of which I haven’t seen before. The quality of this set is readily apparent in the case itself before you even unzip it. Nothing overly complicated or elaborate, but there is an elegance to its simplicity that really speaks to me. The case itself is a lot smaller than I was expecting it to be too, which honestly makes it even better in my eyes since it is very easily small enough to keep right in the small drawer of my end table so it’s always handy. My one tiny gripe is about the cable lengths. At least for me the shortest cable length is actually too short for these needles to function well unless you are using it paired with the stoppers and a second cable more like straight needles. That isn’t actually a problem for me because I do tend to do exactly that with some small projects like dishcloths, but I think this particular set would have been better off with a second cable of one of the two longer but not actually long lengths. The shortest cable is much better suited to a two inch needle size than a three inch in my opinion. Not in any way a complaint. Just an observation.
I like stainless steel knitting needles in general and have several sets of interchangeable needles. This is a nice enough little set. I’ll run through what I see as plusses and minuses.
Plusses:
1. The case is nice and compact – It is black, but has an all-over gold print so you will be able to spot it easily in your knitting bag. It has a sturdy metal (one-way) zipper and measures just 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ by about 1″. It’s a nice fabric cover- not the PU that you often see. Inside are wide elastic bands that hold the 6 pairs of tips on each side. In the center is a small zipper pouch that holds little accessories and the cables. The case lining is a soft slightly velvety fabric so the tips are well-protected and don’t slide around too much.
2: The cables are excellent. They are thin nylon-coated wire and very flexible but with enough body to easily push and pull through the stitches. They have swivel metal fitting, which protect the cable/metal junction and also prevent twisting of the wire. I don’t think you can find better cables in any other brand.
3. The junctions are close to perfect, both between the cable and the needle tips and between the wire and the metal fittings. There is very tight and smooth and yarn does not catch at all.
4, The tips connect easily and tightly to the cables,. Even without using the tightening tool, I had no problems with them coming undone over the course of knitting an adult-sized hat. (But do use the tightening tool – it’s a good habit.)
The tips themselves have plus and minus features. . They have a medium length taper (I’d prefer a bit longer taper) and rather sharp tips, but with no snags or rough spots. I find that , as with Chiaogoo tips, they sometimes irritate or even puncture my index finger tip if I am not careful. (I knit Continental style and push the tip with my index finger tips)
The tips are stainless steel and smooth. Yarn moves easily over the metal with no catches and just enough drag that stitches don’t slip off too easily.
The tips are marked with sizes in both MM and US sizes. I checked them all with a needle gauge and the sizing is accurate. I like the size range offered here. I like to knit with fingering to worsted weight yarn and would rarely use anything larger than a size 9.
The biggest negative feature of the tips is their weight. They are apparently not hollow like many other stainless steel tips, and weigh quite a bit .
In the photo I show these tips, Knit Picks short options tips and Chiaogoo tips in size 5 ( 3.75mm). I tried to measure the length of the tapers and show the points. I weighed each pair of tips. The comparisons are not perfect because the tip lengths vary between brands, but you can get an idea. These tips weigh 3 times as much as the Knit Picks and Chiaogoo ones , even tough they are a bit shorter than the Chiaogoo tips. As the sizes of the tips increase , the difference gets even greater. The size 9 tips weigh a whopping 24 grams compared to the Knit Picks’ 6 g. This isn’t a deal breaker , but it’s good to be aware.
The length of these tips is short – just 3 1/8″. I measure the cables at 6 1/8″ , 8″ , 12 “, and 21 3/16″. That’s because this set is designed for knitting small circumference projects in the round. The actual tip length is a little shorter than than would be comfortable for anyone who doesn’t have small hands. They work okay for me, but i do cramp up a little and I prefer using longer tips.
Even with these short tips, it is hard to bend them around a very small circumference and with the smallest cable you need to knit awkwardly, with the tips more parallel to each other than tip to tip. (See the second photo of stitches o using the shorter two cables.)That still gives you a 12+ ” circle, which is too large for a mitten or most socks. This is not a fault of this set, but of small circumference sets in general. There are other ways to knit small circumference ( magic loop, double-point needles, two circular needles) and I think they are actually better. This set is, though quite ideal for knitting hats in the round using either the 12″ cable – thus a 18 1/4″ circle. If you do a lot of hats, this set could make sense.
Overall, I would say that this is a very decent interchangeable needle set. The weakest point is the heavy tips and that’s not a problem for everyone. The cables are as good as it gets.
This set makes the most sense for and is great for hat knitters . You can do the decreases at the top by dividing your stitches over two circular needles, each with one tip in the size you used for the main hat and one in a smaller size, being sure to knit the stitches with the larger tips (the size of the tips holding the stitches isnt’ important- your gauge is set by the right hand knitting tip. This set could also useful for the tops of some sleeves.
It’s not an inexpensive set, though you won’t find any comparable ones from major brands at this price point and with this range of sizes.
Another potential issue is that the seller doesn’t offer any replacement cables for this set. If you were to lose or break one or just want another, you could be out of luck,

Wallet size pack of knitting needles. Sleek and sharp great carrying anybody who likes knitting.
I like knitting with some thinner yarns even embroidery thread. These kind of made the perfect size they’re well made and very sleek. The carrying case it comes in but it’s absolutely everything you need for a standard knitting set. the only thing that could have made it better is if it came with the sizing guide and maybe some foldable craft scissors to fit into the inside pocket. The needles themselves are very slick very pointed so for somebody that tends to net a tighter knot they’re perfect for me because I can slip it in and off and still stay consistently taught. So the bands or the loops that connect the two three inch needles they do not change but there is a nice flush taper that happens to fit all the needles and their sizes. However I did notice that if I was knitting for a little longer I wanted to check to make sure that connection was still there in case the threading becomes loose, so far it hasn’t. This is a great little travel set. For somebody that has very large needs come together by rubber bands in a large jar, this is definitely a cute little economic carrying case and set I would say that it would be good for people that are intermediate to advanced. I would say the only reason it wouldn’t be recommended for very beginners is because of how slick the needles are and sometimes just learning your muscle memories needed. However its definitely is a nice set to have for travel at a home and being no bigger than a pocketbook I’m very impressed. The only thing I will say that the etched sizing that was on the side of the needles is very hard to read. Also for the fact that when you will use it more it will eventually wear off the sizing. Either way the case that it comes in is thick and it is well stitched. Has a cute metallic gold design I thought the case was black but it is a very deep blue very whimsical. I believe this is a good value for your money because just to get one set of needles on a continuous loop sometimes I pay upwards of $25 for them and this one is very interchangeable and very user friendly.
