Product description

I got these reusable plastic ice cubes specifically for smoothies so I wouldn’t end up with watered-down smoothie as the ice melts. Since I’d never used reusable plastic cubes before, I learned a lot about the limitations of plastic ice “technology.” Plastic is an insulator rather than a good heat conductor, so the cold transfer is pretty slow compared to real ice. Do not expect these to rapidly chill a warm room-temperature beverage because it takes its sweet time.
Visually, they leave a lot to be desired. While a glass filled with real ice looks crisp and refreshing, a cup full of these multicolored, clear-and-blue plastic blocks looks pretty cheap and unappealing—definitely not winning any points for photo ops. They also arrive packed in a simple plastic bag, so you will need to plan ahead and grab a cute little bin or container to store them neatly in your freezer.
On the flip side, cleaning them is effortless since I just toss them right into the utensil compartment of my dishwasher. They’ve held up well through multiple runs in my dishwasher. At the end of the day, if your main goal is keeping a cold drink chilled without diluting the flavor, these fit the bill completely. For the price, I ain’t mad at them.
Okay, I was really not expecting to like these ice cubes as much as I do. They are very well done and they keep cold quite nicely. When they first arrived, they arrived very simply in basically a Ziploc bag.
And the amount that they came in is quite nice because it allows you to have a lot frozen in a bowl in the freezer. They do not clump together. They don’t need to be broken apart. And also as well, there are so many. And so because of that, you can have quite a few drinks going while many are still in the freezer. You can take the ones that are in the drinks when they become too warm, rinse them off, put them back into the freezer after having taken out the new ones and putting them into fresh glasses.
I would say that you could probably keep at least four people’s drinks cold with these 80 throughout an entire day, maybe more, maybe more like six to eight, depending on how much ice each person likes as well as what type of glass or cup you’re using. They save water, money and the mess of filling ice trays, or even having to use your water filter so much on your fridge for the automatic ice machine (which our apartment doesn’t have – so, we bought an ice maker. These are SO much less work!)
For me, I like a lot of ice and I use an insulated cup. And so because of that, I am able to put about 10 into a 40 ounce cup and keep that cold throughout an entire day. I’ll even pull out one of the cubes and give it a squeeze and I could tell that there is still ice left in the center. And that would be six hours later, easily.
So, these are really wonderful. I do have a couple of suggestions though. One, take them out and put them into a bowl with some dish soap immediately to make sure that you get any of the packing and shipping dust or whatever germs off of them. And then finally, inspect them to make sure that none of them are leaking as they do have these kind of little ports on them that are sealed up. But I was very keen on making sure that each one arrived perfectly and they all did. I would definitely suggest these to anyone. And one final thing that’s nice to note is the difference in color. It is fun to have all the different colors in one glass, but it is also something as well that you can use as a marker for whose cups they are, especially if you get a larger array of colors. With this pack, it comes with three different colors, clear, medium blue, darker blue. Definitely a suggest, very good value for the price.
I am very happy with these ice cubs for use in our cooler. We are at the ballpark often and having cold water and gatorades is essential but by the end of the day, we just have a bag of water leftover! These help obviously by not melting down into water! I love that I don’t have to drain our ice bin to keep our drinks cold by using these and I can save the real ice for our water bottles!
However, I would NEVER put these into a beverage to use instead of ice. We have used these a few times and a few of the cubes have leaked whatever substance is in them, and ended up oozing all over the cooler. I never intended to use them any other way than in our cooler, but definitely think twice before putting them in something you ingest!
Otherwise, these have worked well for keeping beverages cold in our coolers. 80 sounds like a lot, but it really wasn’t as much as I expected, I will probably order another packet to ensure we have enough for the larger coolers. I used this in a 12×12″ flatter style cooler and it was enough, but in our larger ones, these will not be.
I also wish they came with a mesh bag of some sort. They come in a plastic bag which is reusable I suppose, but I would prefer a mesh storage bag. I did buy one for a few bucks so not a huge deal, but keeping them together in something like that makes them easier to use.
Overall, I am happy with them for cooler usage and convenience. But again, I would not put them in my drinks!
Work, but a little overpriced
I picked this up for road trips rather than drinks, although it still fits the beverage category in a roundabout way. I like using real ice in coolers because it settles into all the gaps, but I do not enjoy the puddle of water everything ends up sitting in. These reusable cubes solve that problem for short drives. They add just enough chill without turning into a slushy mess at the bottom of the cooler.
There are plenty of cubes in the pack, so it is easy to spread them around between containers or tuck them into small spaces. They freeze quickly, they rinse off easily, and they are simple to rotate back into the freezer after a trip.
The 16$ price feels a little high even with the quantity and the quality, but they work well for what I need. They keep things cool, they stay clean, and they make quick cooler setups much easier.
Overall, this set has been a practical way to add chill to small coolers without dealing with melted ice water, and the large pack size makes it easy to keep enough ready for any short trip.
These ice cubes are very versatile. For example, you can use them to cool off drinks. You can put them in a plastic bag to ice your ankle. You can use them to cool off a recovery ice bath. You can put them in a lunch pouch to keep stuff cold. They tend to melt slower than real ice cubes and they don’t make any of the mess. This makes them very handy.
I personally don’t like these in my drinks. I mostly drink water so the melting ice gave me more to drink. These things don’t melt but they still displace liquid that would otherwise be in your cup/bottle. My favorite use case is icing my feet. When I use real ice cubes for that, I usually end up with a wet mess everywhere. With these cubes, I put them in a bag and I can even re-freeze them in the bag. It’s a lot easier and less messy.
Also, this package is very generous with the cubes. You get a lot so you can use different one for different things. I did wash these once in the dishwasher in the utensil rack (on the bottom). That seemed to work fine.
Overall a great product. I’m glad I ordered this.
80 Pack Reusable Ice Cubes, Refreezable Plastic Ice Cubes | No Diluting, BPA Free for Drinks, Iced Coffee, Home Bars, Whiskey is wonderful for me. I make a lot of coffee so I love having these because it doesn’t water my coffee down. I also like the cool colors too. I really like having a reusable option for keeping my drinks cold without dealing with the extra water that comes from traditional ice cubes melting. These are especially useful for my iced coffee because I can keep my drink chilled while still enjoying the flavor without it becoming diluted. Having a large pack of 80 also means I have plenty available to use and rotate through the freezer. The colorful design is a fun bonus and makes them look more interesting than plain ice. I think they are also convenient for other cold drinks when I want to keep them chilled without adding extra water. Overall, these reusable ice cubes have been a practical addition to my drink routine, especially since I make coffee so often.
