This Masters of the Universe Battle for Eternia 2-in-1 playset unleashes the epic action of the 2026 movie and literally sets the scene for battles of good versus evil. A fold-open design dramatically reveals the 2 powerful strongholds from the movie — Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain, in intricate detail. Each fortress contains a key removable element — a Bone Throne for Skeletor in the menacing Snake Mountain and an Altar and the Sword of Power in ancient and striking Castle Grayskull. With the two fortresses side by side, the playset measures 27 inches wide. Snake Mountain and Castle Grayskull can also detach from each other to create a huge face-off play or display area. The playset is designed to work with Masters of the Universe Kids Core figures and an exclusive Golden Armor Skeletor figure with Havoc Staff is included to kickstart the adventures. Special features include the iconic openable Jawbridge, an elevator, a weapons rack, a lift gate and a prisoner lock-up area with arm chains. Four additional weapons and a zipline for daring sneak attacks are also included. Initial assembly is required. Once assembled, the two sides of the set can be connected and folded back up for easy storage. MOTU fans 6 years and older will find hours of fun with this set. Colors and decorations may vary.

The Battle for Eternia!
Masters of the Universe heroes and villains engage in on-going battles of good versus evil. With action figures, vehicles and playsets, Eternia lives on — By the Power of Grayskull!

The diorama pieces are worth the price.
I’m mixed on this as a whole, but the elements of it are definitely worth the price.
I’ve long said that I wish Mattel would make more scenery or prop items to display figures as shelf space is precious real estate for the figure collector.
This set has 3 big elements for me in no specific order making it better that the other…
1) Skeletor. It’s a variant that seems to throw a nod to the 200x line, and maybe at home at a disco – if you know, you know.
2) the Sword Altar. Very iconic, and I think this will be a sought after collectible for this and the exclusive Power Sword.
3) The bone throne – I also think this is worth most of the price and all 3 elements kind of make it worthwhile. The bonus removable skull on the throne is awesome and can mount to the heads of figures. The throne itself is an impressive display, and if someone (you) wanted to paint it to make it look more legit for your own diorama, you could. Works well on its own though.
These 3 elements are the core of my 5 stars.
The shell itself is going to be a hit or miss, depending on where you’re coming from. It falls significantly short in comparison with any of the others previously released. It feels more scaled for a 3″ vs a 5.5″ figure.
There are nods to the old castle like some of the weapons, the elevator and platform. The Snake Mountain side has a nod to thee old chains on the outside of the previous castles (Mountains).
The size is a win if space is limited. It provides a nice backdrop to a collection and isn’t overly imposing upon space. The plastic is durable and sturdy enough for real action play, but it gives you something without giving away everything to get there. You’ll like it less if you constantly live by comparison.
It’s hefty in price to buy for a child with a possible changing interest, but it’ll hold up if you go that route.
The box art is beautiful and display worthy if nothing else.
Assembly is easy.
Again, big bonus is the 3 items I mentioned.
My Neighbor, Skeleto
I have grown up with Masters of the Universe being a part of my life. From the 80s off and on until now. Generally, I like what Mattel does with the toy line. Some things are better than others of course. This play set is an interesting idea. It is good quality. Everything works as it should. The box art is top notch. I guess they didn’t want to do two castles for some reason so they combined Snake Mountain and Grayskull together. It looks good for displaying for the most part. You can’t put a lot of figures on it though. But, for a kid wanting to play with it, it doesn’t offer a whole lot. Especially not compared with the old castles, the early 2000s one, or the Origins castles. It is also much smaller. The last photo is the new one next to a recent version of the Origins Grayskull. This castle folds together to store it. Not all will fit in there. The bone throne is basically its own thing. It is large. It’s neat and the included Skeletor figure fits on it well. That figure looks good. Like it’s supposed to being based off the movie. The drawbridge and gate open and close by sticking a sword inside the slot and moving the snake’s jaw. Instructions and two stickers come with the castle. Take your time and don’t tear them. One is curved which made it a little challenging to put on. I think for displaying, this castle is good. Not perfect, but good. For playing, it would just depend on the child. Maybe don’t show them the originals and they won’t have anything to compare it to. I think it would still be fun though. I’m not sold on the price but it may be fair. I do like mine, especially the throne and the included Skeletor. I imagine any He-Man fan or kid would be happy to get this as a gift.
This playset is pretty neat in that you get one for each of the major Eternia locations. On the flipside of that, they’re both pretty small and cramped. The plastic quality is pretty decent, it’s semi-hard but not brittle. The included Skeletor figure is nicely sculpted, though it’s just a recolor of the pre-existing one I believe. One nice touch is that the skull on top of the throne can be swapped with Skeletor’s (or any other figure in the line) head.
Minor complaints. Mine was missing the zipline cord for some reason. I’m not going to ship the entire set back to amazon for a piece of string and two small plastic pieces, but it was still a little disappointing. I reached out to Mattel directly but was told they don’t have parts available.
Also, I don’t really like the orange color of the stairs leading up to the throne. Not sure why they didn’t go with something more muted. Regardless, this is a nitpick by a 48 year old and probably not something a 6 year old would be as concerned with.
“Budget” is used in the title because.. well, it’s still almost $90 and that’s not exactly pocket change.
Absolute nostalgia overloadtop-tier quality from Mattel and endless fun for the imagination!
If I could give this Masters of the Universe 2-in-1 Battle for Eternia playset 20 stars, I would without hesitation. Who doesn’t love He-Man and Skeletor? Seeing Masters of the Universe make such an awesome comeback brings back an incredible flood of childhood memories from the 1980s, and I cannot wait to surprise my son with this set.
Mattel completely nailed the craftsmanship, colors, and nostalgic design on this piece. It features the iconic Castle Grayskull with the skull drawbridge and opening teeth, along with Snake Mountain and the classic bone throne. It is loaded with awesome interactive features that let a kid’s imagination run wild: a working elevator that raises and lowers, zip lines, a prisoner lockup cell, an alter with the Power Sword, and dedicated weapon racks to store the included spears, battle axe, and bow. It even comes with an exclusive golden Skeletor figure to kick off the battles right out of the box.
One of the best practical features is how easily it folds shut into a self-contained unit to store all the figures, weapons, and accessories neatly inside when playtime is over. As soon as you open it back up, you have an entire multi-level fantasy battleground ready to go. The build quality is durable, the vintage vibe is spot-on, and it is worth every single penny. Whether you’re a parent reliving your childhood or introducing the next generation to Eternia, this playset is an absolute home run!
Excellent 2-in-1 fantasy playse
– Name: Battle for Eternia
– Theme: Masters of the Universe
– Manufacturer: Mattel
– Model #: JKN95-9993, 94735-35395, 09760B
– Release: 2026
– Ages: 6+
– Size: About 14.5″ tall, 14″ wide closed, 27.5″ opened.
– Articulation: Working drawbridge (putting the sword in the keyhole or pressing the button inside opens it), portcullis (closing the serpent jaw drops it), and ratcheting elevator. This playset hinges open and closed, can be locked shut, and the halves separate too. The cobras and horned skull on the throne are also movable, as are the chains on the manacles. Our exclusive Golden Armor Skeletor figure is jointed at the knees, hips, waist, neck, shoulders, elbows, and wrists.
– Paint: Some coloring on the exterior of the structure and a wash on the skeletal throne, otherwise mostly the hues of the plastic that things were molded from. Skeletor is more detailed with his bony face being particularly well painted.
– Accessories: Havoc Staff, Power Sword (with large ornate display base), mace, spear, axe, halberd, hooked zip line & handle, and bone throne on a raised cobra column platform with stairs.
Mattel took a different approach and combined Castle Grayskull & Snake Mountain into one playset for the MotU movie toyline, instead of separate releases like they’ve historically done. I was skeptical at first, but, in-hand, I was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked. The 6″ Skeletor figure is great too (he even has a fabric cape!), even though these aren’t his usual colors.
Some assembly is required (paper instructions included), but it’s just snapping a handful of items and platforms into place, nothing too difficult. There are also 2 decals to apply.
Great playset with some fun action features and accessories, I particularly love Skeletor’s epic throne. This might not be exactly what MotU fans were expecting, but, it’s pretty cool if you give it a chance.
Castle Play Skull
This version of castle Grayskull is like a play-set lite with more current design and play features. That being said when I got this set I wasn’t expecting it to necessarily replace my OG Gray-skull. I was curious if the core design scale of the movie figures and play-sets fit well with the origins line. This was a test. I am pleased that the core play-sets scales just fine with the origins line. I had no issues putting my MOTU origins figures into the playset and using the play features. In fact, I find myself using the play features on the new Grayskull castle more than the old one! The elevator removed the pull string so it just snaps up and down. The drawbridge play feature on this castle is killing the previous version. That spring action design is working! On the Snake Mountain side the closing gate is a great surprise play feature that I really like. But by far the reason this set I really think stands out is Skeletors throne. From the articulating snakes to the bonus “head”. You’re gonna want this set just to get your hands on that throne! For the price, it’s a steal. Took 2 minutes to set up. Buy it set it up and admire it. It’s a cool set for the cost.
Great playse
