Product description
Product title at the time of review:
500GB External Hard Drive,USB 3.0 for PC, Mac, Desktop, Laptop, Smartphone, PS4, Xbox
What I liked:
* Aluminum housing feels solid and stays reasonably cool during transfers
* Includes a USB-C adapter along with the standard USB-A cable, so it works with newer laptops without extra dongles
* Quiet once spinning and plug-and-play on both Windows and Mac
* Compact enough to toss in a bag without adding much bulk
* Straightforward way to get 500 GB of portable capacity at a low price point
What I didn’t like:
* Transfer speeds sit in the typical spinning-drive range (around 100-130 MB/s), so large files take longer than they would on flash storage
* Mechanical design means it is more vulnerable to drops or bumps than an SSD
* 500 GB feels modest by current standards for everyday photo, video, or backup use
* Slight spin-up sound and brief delay when first connected
It’s been a while since I used spinning portable disks, and it feels like 2012 all over again, but given the price spike of flash-based storage and spinning media alike, this seems like an inexpensive way to go about carrying your data on the go. A practical basic option if you mainly need affordable capacity rather than top speed or maximum durability.
I got this mechanical hard drive for permeant storage of personal files. I did not consider ssd due to possibility of data loss without being connected for long time. This hd works well, gets connected to my laptop easily without any setup. The data transfer speed is decent at a high capacity.
Great drive that required 0 setup.
Very good value!. Zero set up required. Plugged the drive into my laptop and it appeared in the file list immediately. Quick shipping. I am ordering the 1 Tb version today!
At first I thought it’s a broken or fake one, because it shows the capacity is only 100.8mb. I thought I was cheated by the seller, but I figured it out later, and it successfully has 500GB as the description says. I like the tough feeling of this HD, and black looks professional. Good price, good quality, hope it works well for years. Finger crossed.
This 500GB external hard drive is compact and easy to use, and provides plenty of extra storage for my photos, videos, documents, and other files. Great price and the quality was good. Satisfy with my purchase!
