This set is very cute, the little girl I gifted it to loves playing with it. I like that everything can be packed up into the head for fast clean up. It seems pretty sturdy. It’s a decent size.
Awesome toy for any little girl!
My daughter has been obsessed with unicorns lately, so this was an easy win. The second she opened the box, she disappeared into her room and I didn’t hear a peep for almost an hourwhich honestly might have been my favorite feature.
There are so many fun little accessories included, and she loves switching up Wildstar’s mane with the clips, ties, and charms. The styling head is a great size for little hands, and the mini unicorns and playset give her even more ways to use her imagination instead of just brushing hair over and over.
The pieces are colorful, cute, and have held up well to plenty of enthusiastic play. She especially loves pretending the waterfall and bridge are part of a magical unicorn adventure before giving Wildstar a brand-new hairstyle.
If you have a unicorn-loving kid, this is such a fun gift. It kept my daughter entertained way longer than I expected, and she’s already asked if Wildstar can “sleep in her room” tonight. I’d definitely buy it again!
Surprisingly well-made and a toy that parents will love, just as much as their kids.
This toy was WAY better than anticipated, even, and I’ve come to have high expectations for Unicorn Academy toys. My 6 year old daughter is standing over me INSISTING I give this all 5/5 stars because she loves it so much. Here are the pros and cons:
PROS: Huge! Impressive first impression with pretty packaging and sturdy-feeling construction/materials to the toy. Many pieces, BUT they all store within the unicorn head and within the little shell compact, so I, as a parent worried about clutter and storage, absolutely love this toy. Everything works as intended and the instructions are comprehensive, easy to understand, and easy to implement. My daughter was able to understand and put everything together, to start playing on her own except for putting the peg in the top of the waterfall, which required my help due to hand strength. The head stays upright while doing hairstyles, which is a key feature for these type toys. It doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy, and parts don’t peel/break/ fall off like a lot of toys. It also only took about 5 mins to open and get all the parts out.
Extra special Pro: the little unicorn figurines that play in the playhouse/garden are exceptionally well-made. The details are painted well and they’re absurdly cute. This is a part my daughter wanted me to write specifically, but I agree! They’re beautifully designed and sturdy enough I don’t have to worry about a leg or horn breaking off, creating an upset kid.
CONS: it requires scissors and a moderate amount of strength to open. That’s a small con but I think it’s helpful to know for those looking to buy.
SUMMARY: oh, yeah absolutely. This is a huge win. I will probably buy this as a gift for 4-8 year olds many, many times and immediately be the favorite gift at the party each time. Surprisingly well-made and a toy that parents will love, just as much as their kids.
Two Styles of Toys in One
My daughter started watching this show recently. I think this toy is a neat idea because it kind of combines a Polly Pocket-style playset with a styling head (in this case a unicorn). They included accessories to do the unicorns hair like a comb, rubber bands, barrettes, etc., and those things are also used in the little scene when the unicorn head opens. All of the little accessories have multiple uses with this set.
The unicorn is pretty and the hair is silky and won’t tangle easily. My daughter has done the hair more than played with the inside scene so far. The color of the unicorn (a shimmery purple) and the hair (rainboy) is pretty.
Some reasons why I deducted a star are I feel like they kind of skimped on the hair accessories. You get three rubber bands, and they could have easily included more. Also, the unicorn doesn’t have much hair. I feel like the unicorn could have had a lot more hair to style. The last thing is it’s not really apparent how to open the unicorn’s head. I was worried I was going to break it when I was pulling it open.
It’s a good size and there is a lot of playability with this set. It really is a neat combo of two different kinds of toys. My daughter was excited to get it. The quality is good, and I think it’s a good value. The little unicorn figures are cute that come with it too.

Such a beautiful playse
This is a beautiful and good quality toy. The unicorn head is easy to pull open, you just unfold it from the top of the head, there’s no special trick to it. It’s a very durable and sturdy plastic. I love the metallic sort of purple color, and the rainbow hair. It’s convenient that all the accessories fit inside. There is a large comb for brushing the hair that doubles as a shelf or platform inside the playset. There is a mirrored compact, that is also used as a place for the mini unicorns to ‘jump’ the fence. There is a waterfall, a little pool, a hedge, and a rainbow bridge. The two miniature unicorns are so pretty. There are just a few hair accessories that are also used to decorate the inside of the playset. I feel like the only thing this is lacking is more accessories for the hair, and a few more play pieces for inside the playset. That would have really put this set over the top. Aside from lack of accessories, this toy reminds me of the good quality fun toys I played with as a kid in the 90s. I would have added a little table and tea set for the little unicorns. I can add more hair accessories myself of course, but it should have came with more. I put the hair in a braid with a satin scrunchie (not included) when the styling head isn’t being played with just to keep it nice.
Good 'wow' gift for a Unicorn Academy or unicorn fa
I understand that the Unicorn Academy is very popular at present and even featured in one of the books for this year’s World Book Day. Unicorns (and horses) always tend to be popular with young children, more often than not girls. This toy comes nicely packaged and at 35 at the time of this Amazon Vine review, it would make a nice ‘wow’ gift to a Unicorn Academy and/or unicorn fan of primary school age.
The toy includes a large head of one of the unicorns (Wildfire) and of course there’s the obvious grooming of its mane (with supplied comb and hair accessories) but the head also opens out to a playset with scenery and other small characters to play with as well as other accessories — all very plastic, of course. There is plenty of scope for imaginative play solo or with friends.
The overall look and quality is good but this is a branded or licensed product so you would expect no less. Given its size and playability is good and so the price point is not unreasonable. Of course, even better value if you wait for it to go on sale or offer.
Silky, Tangle-Free Hair and Hours of Imaginative Diorama Play
We recently surprised our daughter with this set, and it has quickly become a favorite in our daily playtime routine. Right out of the box, the vibrant, shimmery purple exterior and the gorgeous rainbow mane make a wonderful first impression. While the unit closes up tightly for storage, I did find that opening the head up takes a bit of a firm tug from the side. This is something to keep in mind if you have smaller hands, as it can feel like you’re going to break it at first, but it proves to be quite durable. Once opened, it transforms beautifully from a styling head into a compact, table-top or lap-sized mini Unicorn Island. My daughter instantly gravitated toward the two exclusive mini figures, Skywind and Wildstar, setting them up on the little light bridge and waterfall for hours of diorama-style imaginative storytelling. We added in 5 inch figures Ava and leaf for imaginative fun and they fit perfectly in the playscape.
What I personally appreciate as a parent is that the colorful display doesn’t rely on flashiness or sound effects; there are no electronic lighting features, meaning no batteries to constantly replace or loud noises to manage, and assembly is simple. The quality of the hair is another huge plus. The rainbow strands are incredibly silky and smooth, making it easy to brush and style into small braids or clips without the frustration of instant knots and tight tangles. The hair accessories are minimal but that is not an issue because we have plenty of our own to use for styling the unicorn hear. The playability you get from combining hair styling with a miniature playset makes this an incredibly sweet and engaging toy.
Wildstar Has a Whole World Hidden Inside
This is incredibly cute and much more interesting than a standard styling head. Wildstar starts out as a big colorful unicorn head for hair play, but then the whole thing opens up and transforms into a miniature Unicorn Academy playset.
The transformation is definitely my favorite part. Once opened, there are several little areas for imaginative play, including the academy backdrop and outdoor scenery. I love that the unicorn horn and rainbow elements are incorporated into the design even when everything is opened up.
There are also more than 15 hair accessories, so there’s plenty to do with Wildstar’s colorful mane. Kids can brush and style the hair, add accessories, and then switch over to using the set for storytelling and recreating scenes from the show.
The colors are fantastic, with lots of purple, turquoise, pink and rainbow details throughout. It has a very magical fantasy look without the individual pieces feeling completely disconnected from each other.
I especially appreciate toys that have a little surprise built into their design, and the styling-head-to-playset transformation gives this considerably more play value. It’s colorful, imaginative and fun.
