    Broad, shallow baking dish
This is a borosilicate glass dish, what in generic speech used to go under the brand name Pyrex, so as long as one applies heat evenly and avoids sudden temperature shock (such as putting the hot dish in cool water), this is a sturdy dish for one’s oven creations. Of course, the plastic cover is only to seal foods after they have cooled, and is not used during cooking, or it will melt. My first use of it was to make brownies, a very satisfying sort of essential dish, I think. This dish can be used to bake all sorts of casseroles (lasagna is always a good candidate), as well as breads and cakes. Cooking in a wide, shallow dish is a somewhat different experience from pots with lids or deep bread pans, but it has benefits worth exploring. One enjoyable advantage is that you can always cut out a serving of the size that you would like, and see how much is left at the end of the meal. This style of cooking warrants consideration. This product has a somewhat steep price at $40, but it seems well made.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersGreat way to prep dinner in advance, and easily store leftovers
This 4-qt glass baking dish with lid is a great addition to any kitchen. Admittedly, I kept borrowing my friend’s Pyrex dish and lid because they were so easy and convenient to use. With how often I was borrowing it, she eventually convinced me to get my own.

I love that I can bake in this dish, let it cool, and cover it to store any leftovers. The fact that I can save even a few minutes of hassle transferring leftovers to a Tupperware container, especially after making multiple meals a day for 6+ people, is a major game-changer. The pan itself is also a game-changer because of its size – at 4 quarts, I can easily feed the 6+ people in my home and usually have leftovers. The only issue is I have just one of these glass baking dishes – I definitely need to get a second or third. I usually prep my meal a day or two in advance in the baking dish, and then it’s as simple as pulling it out while I let the oven preheat, and then popping it in. Having a second or third one would allow me to prep multiple nights and ensure I always have one available if the other is storing leftovers.

The glass dish itself has a great weight to it, and the lid appears to be very durable. The lid seals perfectly on the glass dish, ensuring an airtight seal. It is a bit harder to take off than my friend’s glass baking dish. I also had a bit of a scare and dropped this glass dish once – I was absolutely terrified that it was ruined. Luckily, it survived impact with no cracks or chips. While I wouldn’t suggest doing a drop test, I can say there is some relief in knowing it won’t instantly shatter if dropped (hopefully)!

The glass itself is advertised as “Dishwasher Safe, Freezer Safe, Microwave Safe, Oven Safe, Refrigerator Safe.” I can attest that it does well in the dishwasher, and there have been no issues with storing the baking dish in the fridge or the freezer. I do handwash the lid, as it is very easy to clean, and I don’t want to take up space in my dishwasher when I have a hundred other items to add. I have also hand-washed this glass baking dish, and it cleans just as easily as any other glass dish.

I would say I am deducting 1 star due to how hard it is to get the lid on and off – at the price point, and seeing other comparable options (including my friends), you could pay the same price, if not a little less, for a glass baking dish that has a secure lid that is easier to take off. Aside from that, it is a great product that appears to be extremely durable.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersBig, beautiful, and borosilicate!
I ordered this because it’s so vitally important to use borosilicate when cooking or baking anything! Borosilicate can withstand temperature extremes that few other glasses can — which is why it’s preferred for scientific equipment meant for high and low temperature use. Pyrex used to be borosilicate glass, and you can find plenty of people posting online about how their modern Pyrex shattered in the oven or shortly after taking it out, and plenty more posting about how crappy it is that Pyrex won’t just come out and say what glass their stuff is made of anymore. Seriously, do yourself a favor and never buy Pyrex again. Stick with borosilicate and it should last pretty much forever.

Anyway, this baking dish is huge! 4 quarts–a whole gallon–is a considerable improvement over the usual 3 quarts of a standard 9×13 baking dish. It should go without saying that borosilicate is dishwasher-safe, too, so it’s quite easy to clean. The lid provides a nice and tight seal; it’s even a little more difficult to put on than your average baking dish lid. But, for better food protection, I’ll take it. And, not that it really matters, but it’s just fine in the looks department.

Made in Europe; one of the seemingly few remaining places on this planet with a semblance of sanity. Which explains the $40 price tag. That’s the one flaw of this dish; $40 feels like a lot for a hunk of glass. But, rest assured; for that money you are getting a quality baking dish that, like your grandma’s Pyrex, should even make a good hand-me-down. Buy with confidence!

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersLarger Size Suitable for Different Foods.
I love cooking, baking and storing in glass instead of plastic.

This glass casserole dish is massive. It is much larger than a standard 13×9 pan so this fact needs to be remembered if making something that calls for a 13×9 pan. Adjustment must be made in cooking times.

The glass is smooth without any air bubbles or imperfections noted. It is heavier given the glass composition and size. I appreciate the extended handles making it easier to pick up and transport. The lid I will say is super snug. I had a difficult time getting the lid on and off. I am hoping once it is “broken in”, it will be easier for me to use.

If I were to compare this item to the name brand ones on the market today, I would say it is comparable. Knowing I can get virtually the same thing in name brand at less of a cost makes me deduct one star.

Overall, this durable glass dish serves multiple purposes. From baking to serving to storage, it has amble room. It washes well in the dishwasher as well as by hand making it a great choice for any kitchen.
