Great for midsize gardens
This is a really neat product love how easily it assembles and the connectors make restructuring very simple. You do need another part to connect it with a regular garden hose, which I just happened to have on hand: easy connector hose attachments work for this. The drip tape itself has held up well so far, does a great job without clogging up or any issues. This is well worth the price.
It works with low pressure!
Really happy with the value and performance of this kit. I set it up with a gravity fed rain barrel system and it waters a 250 sq ft bed just fine. It doesn’t include the 3/4 hose to 5/8 tubing converter, but I found one for $3 at a hardware store.
My only issue is that it included 2 extra elbows and was missing 2 T junctions. If they rectify this it’s honestly a 5 star system.
My wife and I have been expanding our vegetable garden this year, but my old irrigation setup was starting to look like a patchwork quilt of leaks and electrical tape. I decided to pull the trigger on this 500-foot drip tape kit to start fresh, and I’m glad I did because it makes the chore of daily watering almost non-existent once you have it laid out.
The tape itself is 16 Mil thick, which gives it a nice sturdiness compared to the thinner 8 Mil variety that tends to puncture easier. The 6-inch spacing (that’s the distance between the little emitter holes) is perfect for our rows of peppers and tomatoes because it ensures the entire root zone gets a good soak without wasting water on the paths. The real star of the show, though, is the screw-type fittings. You just slide the tape over the barb and screw the collar down; it creates a very tight seal that hasn’t popped off even when I accidentally bumped the pressure up.
The kit comes with a generous amount of elbows, tees, and end plugs (42 pieces in total), so I had plenty of hardware to snake the line around our corner beds without having to make a hardware store run halfway through.
One thing to keep in mind is that this is a low-pressure system. If you hook this directly to your house spigot without a pressure regulator, you’re likely going to turn your garden into a geyser park. I’d recommend picking up a 25 psi regulator if you don’t have one already.
