Bird Deterrent can be placed wherever you need it. Effectiveness remains to be seen.
I ordered this bird deterrent to protect my fig tree from birds eating the ripe figs. The tree is too large this season to get a protective net tree cover and I haven’t been able to eat a fig the last two years, so I had to find something else. It was easy to assemble. initially I filled the base with water and put it on a compost bin near the fig tree about 4′ tall. I realized it needed to be higher, so I put my tallest ladder next to the tree and set the bird deterrent on top of the ladder. Sitting higher up also exposes it to more breezes and causes more spinning of the parts meant to scare birds away.
I can’t really comment on how well it works, but I noticed fewer half eaten figs a few days after putting this device in place and was able to pick a quart of figs for my own use, so it may be working.
I recommend this product.
