I have become a huge fan of solar powered lights in my back yard, and these are a quality version that work very effectively. My one tiny complaint is not about the product per se, but I do find it annoying that there is a picture of four lights on this listing, which is for a two pack. While I always consider it my fault if I don’t read a listing carefully, it doesn’t mean I don’t find the discrepancy a tad annoying.
I ordered these to put on our small wooden deck area where we have our grill and a few other large items. I wanted a little bit of illumination out there when it’s dark without needing to turn the outdoor porch light on. These have worked well for that purpose, and it’s particularly handy to have that extra bit of light when I need to take my dogs out late.
The lights are well made and sturdy, and based on my initial use and impressions I am confident that they’ll be durable and stand up to being outdoors in the elements 24/7. They are bigger than the last similar set of solar lights I purchased for a different area of our yard, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a light with a smaller footprint that doesn’t stand out at all. These are great for my needs because I wanted something a little larger to get a little more light power, but do know that since you’ll want to have these where they are exposed to the sun, they’ll likely be in full view so you’ll want to put them in a spot where you don’t mind seeing them.
These couldn’t be easier to use, and so far they have come on without fail at dusk and the light has lasted until the wee hours. All you need to do once you open them is push the button to turn them on and leave them somewhere where they’ll get enough sun to charge up, though mine came fully charged. Being able to select a color temperature is a very cool feature of these in my opinion, and you just cycle through to your desired choice by pressing the button a couple times. I went with warm, so I literally just had to press the button once. Note that when you first turn these on, the light will go on for a moment so you know they are working, and then it will go off. Then just leave them and they will automatically go on when it gets dark.
They also come with mounting hardware i.e. screws and anchors, which I will probably use at some point but for now mine are just hanging on pre-existing nails I had. They are well designed and there is a removable back panel that you screw to your fence or wherever you’re mounting these, and then you slide the light over the panel. They is particularly convenient if you ever need to move the lights to charge them if they aren’t getting enough sun in their mounted spot.
I find it nearly impossible to get a decent photo of lights like this in use, but I included a picture of one when on at night anyway. Overall I’m impressed with the performance of these so far and would recommend.
The Solar Fence Lights Outdoor solar light is great buy for me. I’m getting to more sets. I didn’t expect such a small addition to make such a big difference, but these 2 Pack Solar Fence Lights have genuinely transformed how I manage my yard at night. I noticed how effectively the 4 LED setup casts a clear, focused glow along my fence line.
Anyone living in Texas know that at night time, the animals come out at night. I have been totally startled by walking up on rats snakes and huge Horned Owls consuming is meals, Armadillo’s, Moles, and Opossum’s, all in my backyard.
As the owner of a huge 69 pound Husk, this has been especially valuable. Anyone with a husky knows how that wolf instinct that’s itching to explode out.
Before letting my dog outside for the final time at night, I always want to make sure there is nothing in the dark shadows lurking around because going to find it. He’s always on the hunt.
These lights give me that extra layer of confidence. I can easily tell if there’s a raccoon, possum, or even just a neighborhood cat nearby before opening the door.
Easy to mount, bright light over small area
These solar fence lights are pretty nice, well made lights. They have a focused, bright light that doesn’t spill over into the surrounding area much at all. The LEDs are quite bright; don’t look directly into the LEDs because if you do, you’ll be seeing spots in your eyes for a while after. The size of the area of illumination depends on how high you hang these lights; closer to the ground illuminates a smaller area, higher up from the ground illuminates a larger area. I’m using these to light a small area near my back steps and found hanging it at about 5 foot high worked best for me.
The lights turn on at dusk/dark and stay on until morning or when the battery runs out. There is no way to change how long the light stays on, or when it turns on/off. You can choose between warm, neutral and cool white light “tones”. Using the cool white light setting, I’m getting about 8 to 9 hours of light currently, but it’s still early spring so the solar panels aren’t getting maximum sunlight yet.
While the body of these solar lights are plastic, all plastic pieces are well formed and feel like they are an appropriate density/thickness for a device exposed to the weather year-round. They do look and feel like they are genuinely IP65 waterproof, and so far, I’ve had no issues or water infiltration through multiple heavy spring rainstorms.
Installation was simple and straightforward. On the back of each light is a stiff metal mounting bracket, just slide that off, use the included screws to mount it where you want, then slide the back of the light down and over the metal mounting bracket. Took me less than 10 minutes to mount both lights. Do note there’s no way to adjust the angle of the solar panel or the lights.
Overall, I’m really happy with these solar fence lights. I find they’re well made, waterproof, bright and simple to install, and I think they are reasonably priced.
