Just What I Needed & Love how convenient.
Just found my “almost HG” volumizing shampoo/conditioner. I LOVE it, but so bummed because it can dry out my hair – mainly my ends. Then I tried this Shaz & Kiks styling cream – it’s the perfect solution.
After washing my hair I apply this towards my ends (a little goes a LONG way) & let my hair air dry. I like to put it up in a bun & let it dry while I sleep & what I did in my image. My hair is 2A, soft waves, super easy to maintain. It looks thick & but at age 61, is def thinning.
The first time I used too much. My hair felt & looked heavily coated. So I used sparingly the second time w/fantastic results. My hair felt soft, full & moisturized.
The fragrance is very strong & reminds me one of the Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum creams. The scent doesn’t last long & fades quickly.
PS: My new fav HG haircare is Dr Groots Hair Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner. Amazon sells a travel size set – perfect for trying & plays extremely well with this Shaz & Kiks product.
Great stuff
I’ve tried maybe a dozen similar products for my dry, wavy hair. This is one is great. The ingredients list is refreshingly short for this kind of product, and running it through ChatGPT, nothing looks worrisome in terms of toxicity.
It smells good, is easy to spread into the hair (and thankfully, it is not tacky or sticky), and the results are natural. It doesn’t make my hair crunchy or wet looking – just gives some extra curl definition. Got a compliment from someone I live with my first time using it.
I’ve felt curl-oriented products are all about trial and error, and even the best reviewed products work terribly on me sometimes. So I was really pleasantly surprised by this one. It isn’t anything miraculous; it works subtly but well for me with any of the annoying qualities some other products have (like aforementioned tackiness).
Soft and Defined
Shaz & Kiks Mango Jelly Wave Styling cream not only smells like a sweet ix of mango and citrus, but it leaves my 3B curls looking shiny and defined while still feeling soft and smooth; no crunch!
The texture is a lightweight cream-like gel. It doesn’t feel sticky on my hands or my hair. I like that I have the choice to air dry or use a hair dryer with this product for pretty much the same results. I don’t always have the time to wait for air dry, so I like that my end result won’t change if I hot style. My curls felt hydrated and flexible and I like that I could just reactivate with water to restyle- great for next day or an evening refresh.
The 6-ounce bottle is a bit small, especially for the $36 price tag at the time of this review. It is not one of those products where a little goes a long way, as you actually have to coat the strands, so a larger size bottle is definitely needed for regular styling.
Best styling product for my wavy hai
Really loved this product! The texture is lightweight, not sticky, really feels like this bouncy jelly. I’ve just scrunching into my wet hair and then letting it air-dry, and my waves are really looking so soft and beachy. Favorite things: the smell is delicious (like mango, grapefruit, super light), I can actually see my waves having definition but without it looking crunchy like when I use curl products. I also followed the instructions and rewet my hair on day 2 and reapplied and it brought back my waves beautifully. I have a mix of waves and curls, but I have fine-ish hair so they get weighed down easily. Super impressed! Has become one of my favorite styling products.
Soft, defined curlslove this stuff!
I have fine, naturally curly hair (about a 3A curl) that I often spend 20 minutes blow-drying straight, but it’s so much easier (and healthier) to just let it do its own thing. Without using a curl cream, I’d end up with frizzy, undefined curlsbut this stuff does wonders! My curls are soft, shiny, bouncy and defined, with no stickiness, stiffness or crunchiness. I love that it’s lightweight, sulfate-freeand it smells terrific.
I just put some product into the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, then rake through wet hair in sections from roots to ends (don’t towel-dry your hair first!). I hang my head upside down and scrunch, then flip my head back up and keep scrunching periodically until my hair is mostly dry. I use a diffuser when I’m in a hurry, but I prefer to air-dry if time allows. At night, I make a loose “pineapple” on top of my head with a scrunchy, and the next morning I take out the scrunchy and my hair looks exactly like it did the day before (or sometimes just needs a mist of water and a scrunch or two to reactivate any curls that got droopy during the night).
I got so many compliments on my curls that I think I’ll start wearing my hair this way more often!
