Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersWeatherproof Solar Trickle Charging and Built-In Overcharge Safety Controller!
The Rhorawill 8W 12V Solar Battery Charger & Maintainer is an premium outdoor electrical utility designed to keep 12-volt vehicle batteries fully charged and healthy using natural sunlight. Equipped with a built-in charge controller to completely prevent battery damage and an extra-tough waterproof panel shell, this compact trickle charging kit provides a reliable power solution for cars, boats, RVs, motorcycles, and trailers that sit unused for extended periods.

Here is why this 8-watt solar trickle charger kit is a standout choice for battery maintenance:

Automated Overcharge and Discharge Protection: The core functional benefit is the integrated smart charge controller. It automatically cuts off power the moment your battery hits full capacity and kicks back on if the voltage drops, completely preventing overcharging and stopping the battery from draining back into the panel at night.

Continuous 8-Watt Solar Trickle Charge: Moving away from standard chargers that require a nearby wall outlet, this portable panel relies entirely on sunlight to deliver a steady, low-amperage current. It is optimized to counter the small, constant battery drains caused by vehicle clocks, alarms, and onboard computers.

Universal 12V Battery Compatibility: Built to work seamlessly across a wide variety of setups, the charging circuitry supports sealed lead-acid, gel, AGM, flooded, and lithium batteries. This multi-battery flexibility makes it incredibly useful for keeping lawnmowers, boats, and weekend vehicles ready to start up instantly.

Heavy-Duty Waterproof and Weather-Resistant Build: Designed to withstand continuous outdoor exposure on dashboards, boat decks, or trailer tongues, the panel features a robust waterproof sealing matrix. The tough outer casing keeps the delicate internal wiring safe from heavy downpours, sea spray, and dusty winds.

Hassle-Free Alligator Clips and Plug Connections: Quick setups and simple handling are major highlights of the physical product design. The kit comes complete with both standard alligator terminal clips and a 12V cigarette lighter plug, allowing you to connect the panel directly to your battery in under a minute without using any tools.

    Sturdy panel, great quality, weatherproof
This is a sturdy, weather rated charger panel. T’s Home Garage purchased this to place in the windshield of our 2024 Ram Tradesman 2500 the we pull camping trailers with. A bit of solar charging keeps the batteries from depleting while sitting for a couple of weeks.

One caution: While exposed to the sun, the black frame and panel get hot to the touch. If you reach into the front on a sunny day to get it out, don’t be surprised by that. Wear gloves or wrap it in a towel to make it touch safe.

    Solar battery charge
I recently picked up the Rhorawill 8W 12V Solar Battery Charger and I have to say, it’s been a pretty solid addition to my outdoor gear. I was looking for a solar option to keep my car battery charged while it’s parked for long periods, and this charger fit the bill. Right out of the box, I appreciated that it’s waterproof. Considering I live in an area with unpredictable weather, I felt reassured that it would hold up.

Setting it up was straightforward—just a couple of clips to connect it to the battery, and I was good to go. It comes with a built-in charge controller, which seems to work effectively, preventing overcharging. I’ve left it out in the sun, and I’ve noticed that my battery maintenance has improved significantly. Before this, I used to worry about my battery dying, especially during the winter months, but this charger gives me peace of mind.

I also tried it on my motorcycle, and it performed just as well. I appreciate the compact size; it doesn’t take up much space, which is great for my RV and trailer as well. It’s nice knowing I can rely on it for multiple vehicles. Overall, I’d say the Rhorawill solar battery charger is a practical and economical choice for anyone looking to maintain battery health without the hassle of traditional chargers. I haven’t experienced any issues so far, and for the price, I feel like it’s a worthwhile investment.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersDecent for batteries which can tollerate higher voltage.
I got this for recharging a 12V (lead acid) truck, and in testing, I am a little concerned.

I previously purchased a HF one that’s very similar, so I can compare that directly. The accessories between the two are pretty similar clips and those both work.

Where I do run into some issues with this is the voltage, I was seeing up to 19.5V, which for certain types of batteries can be dangerous. The measured currents were not high, but that can damage (especially LiIon batteries) so use caution with this. LiFePO4 while it won’t explode or anything, doesn’t like more than about 14.6V when it’s a 12V. It claims to have some built in intelligence, to detect full batteries and such, which may be protective, but it makes me a bit leary.

Contrast this with the HF one, where per spec (and so far measurement) it doesn’t exceed 14.6V. Which I feel much safer with.

Again, my use is lead acid, so it doesn’t matter as much (They can be overcharged, but generally something low enough power like this will not hit it.)

Additionally, This does not seem to list out it’s specs so I could verify, I did find it mention 18V in the model number, but aside from the title, claiming 8W/12V, I don’t see it anywhere. I expected it to be on the device itself, but all that has is 3 leds and the description of what they are.

Overall, I’m going to give this 4 stars, for the difficulty telling the specs.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersRhorawill 8W Solar Battery Charger & Maintainer Review
The Rhorawill 8W Solar Battery Charger is a compact, weather-resistant utility designed to protect and maintain 12V batteries in vehicles that sit idle for long periods. Instead of letting onboard electronics drain your vehicle, it uses natural sunlight to deliver a steady, automated trickle charge.

    Key Specifications:

    Power Output: 8 Watts

Voltage: 12 Volts (Maximum output up to 18V DC)Technology: Upgraded MPPT Smart Charging Controller

Waterproof Rating: IP65Compatibility: 12V Lead-Acid (Flooded, Gel, AGM, SLA) and Lithium/LiFePO4 batteries

    The Pros: What Works Well

Smart MPPT Efficiency: Equipped with a built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller, it boasts an energy conversion efficiency of up to 27%. This allows it to capture energy effectively even on overcast days.

Automated Safety Protections: The smart controller automatically stops charging when the battery is full and prevents reverse discharge at night. This ensures your battery won’t overcharge, overheat, or short-circuit.

Robust Weatherproofing: With an IP65 waterproof rating, a high-transmittance glass panel, and an impact-resistant ABS+PC frame, it easily handles rain, snow, and extreme temperatures ranging from -35F to 161C.Clear Visual

Status: The panel features a handy 3-LED system on the back. It flashes blue when receiving sun, red/blue when actively charging, and green/red/blue when the battery is fully topped off.

Complete Kit: It comes with everything needed for a tool-free setup, including a 5-foot SAE cable, alligator clips, a 12V cigarette lighter adapter, and suction cups for dashboard mounting.

The Cons: Things to Keep in Mind

Strictly for Maintenance: At 8 Watts, this device outputs a low current meant to counteract natural battery drain. It is not designed to revive a dead battery or quickly charge a large vehicle.

Higher Voltage Output: Testing indicates the open-circuit voltage can reach up to 19.5V. While its built-in safety features regulate this, owners of sensitive LiFePO4 batteries should monitor it closely.

Cigarette Lighter Compatibility: The lighter adapter only charges the battery if your vehicle’s port remains active (“hot”) when the ignition is completely turned off.

Vague Manual: The included printed instructions offer very little detail, though the helpful label on the back of the panel makes operation simple enough to figure out.

Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?

The Rhorawill 8W Solar Maintainer is an exceptional, high-value option for small-to-medium 12V applications. It is perfect for lawnmowers, motorcycles, jet skis, tractors, and vintage cars.

However, if you are looking to maintain a modern, tech-heavy car with significant parasitic battery drain, or a massive RV setup, you will likely want to step up to a more powerful 25W or 50W panel to comfortably keep up.

    As described. Worked great.
I got this because I had a few different ideas for it. Its not the first time I have seen something like this. We used to have them when I managed a car dealership many years ago. A lot of the cars coming in would have them. Here are the important things I noticed:

    1) Comes as a complete kit. Has the solar panel and a couple ways of connecting it. You have the clips to connect to a battery or a cigarette lighter port.

    2) I do wonder how useful the cigarette lighter port charger would be though. Because most cars now do not keep that on and connected all of the time. If you cars power ports don’t work when the car is off, then its not going to charge the car when its off. Just something to think about.

    3) The system does have a battery detector. It won’t start putting out current unless it detects a battery. So it won’t work for other projects that just need a solar panel, at least not from my trial and error.

    4) The directions that come with the charger are pretty much useless. Just seem to be warnings mostly. But they aren’t needed. The solar panel section has a label on the back that tells you what all the lights mean, which is really all you need to do. I like that they put that on the panel.

    5) It was difficult for me to test the actual output since it needed to be hooked up to a battery to turn on, but from what I could test I would say the stated output is correct. 8W at 12 Volts.

    6) Value? I’d say this is a better than average value. It is a nice setup and the fit and finish appeared to be great.

So all in all I have to give this 5 stars. I couldn’t really find any negatives that mattered.
