Used to backup my new 16″ MacBook Pro (over 750 GB in less than 15 minutes) with included Thunderbolt cable. Incredibly fast. From reading some of the earlier reviews I was expecting the Dura to become very hot, but during and after the backup process it was warm but comfortable to hold in my hand. Very durable enclosure and smaller than expected. Very happy with this choice.
Purchased after reading tons of reviews of other units as well as sending a question to their website. Their customer service is incredible. Needed this to use as a back up to TONS of graphics that I didn’t want to chance losing. Fraction of the physical size of my last external hard drive and quadruple the storage size. Very fast processing. Will be purchasing another soon for another computer.
Picked this up for back-up for my computer. It’s amazingly fast (I’m using Thunderbolt 4 ports on my computer). Also, scary light.
I’ll try to remember to update when I’ve had it long enough to determine longevity, but despite being a little pricy, I bought another one as well.
Love how small this drive is and how FAST it is. File transfers are instantaneous on my 2019 MacBook Pro with USB C. Biggest downside is really with exfat I think, which is out of Helix’s control. I may reformat to Mac OS journaled to get around some of the weird errors I get. With exfat, it’s hard to safely eject the hard drive without relaunching finder every time so it becomes a pain.
I have two of these now: a 2tb and a 1tb. Very well made construction. Aluminum heat sink body with a covering. Prices have come down and will come down more in the futures I’m sure.
Wow this downloads and uploads data fast! With an entire terabyte of memory capacity it can really hold a lot! I needed one to go between computers to make my work life and commute a lot easier/lighter for me! It gets a bit warm I must warn you so be sure to use it on a hard surface that can’t get damaged (no plastics or fabrics nearby) just as a precaution. I use it on a Windows computer as well as a Macbook both work great. No complaints from me. So it’s certainly something I’m willing to recommend! 🙂
In under three hours, I was able to completely fill this one terabyte hard drive with the entire contents of my MacBook Pro for the first time. It took no instructions or explanations, simply launching the time machine, and now my whole computer is backed up. Simple and effective.
