I installed this on my Nortac towable backhoe because I was tired of accidently burning my forearm on the hot muffler. The muffler on these motors is painted exactly the same as the rest of the engine and you forget what it is. This cover fit the 15 HP Ducar 420cc engine perfectly. It is good quality and has two nuts that you can fasten it down with. I did not fasten mine down because it fits snugly enough and I am going to take it off in hot weather while operating so that the muffler can radiate heat away from the engine better. I think this is worth the money and I recommend it.
This muffler blanket works a lot better than I expected. It feels durable and has a reflective inner liner. It’s shaped nicely, and all the stitching looks solid.
I have a mini ex with a 13hp Briggs engine. That motor wasn’t listed but I took a chance and it fits great. A pair of holes for mounting are in the top of the blanket, and they didn’t line up with the Briggs bolts(circled in blue). It fits so well over the muffler cage it doesn’t need those bolts to hold it in place. The cage gives it some airspace between the muffler and blanket so it stays dry, and reflects the heat down and away from the fuel tank. A cut out is provided for your exhaust outlet. I have an extension on mine and it didn’t create a problem.
It’s 95 here today and I just spent 40 minutes digging a hole. I felt a really noticeable difference in seat temperture. It’s actually a lot cooler. I usually don’t dig during this time of day because it’s uncomfortably hot in the machine, and the fuel will boil causing the engine to run rough. I was able to finish that hole and move over to the next one. I was impressed!
For such a simple, inexpensive product it’s a great improvement. It only took a couple of minutes to slip it on from the flip up seat area, and it fit as well as I could expect. 5 stars for quality, performance, ease of installation, and value. Highly recommended!
