My daughter absolutely loves Ms. Rachel, so this farm playset was an easy choice. It quickly became one of the toys she reaches for because it combines her favorite songs and characters with hands-on play.
The interactive features do a great job of keeping toddlers engaged. She enjoys moving the figures around to hear different phrases and animal sounds, and the day and night modes add enough variety that the toy doesn’t feel repetitive right away. This barn toy is very fun and interactive and is great for toddlers who love Ms. Rachel. What sets this barn toy apart from others is it has day and night education. You can switch the button back and forth between the two to get more interactive phrases and sounds based on the time of day you choose.
I also like that when you change out the character in the main learning spot, the toy recognizes whether it is Ms. Rachel, the cow or the pig and matches the phrases accordingly. The toy plays classic Ms. Rachel songs that are farm based, and depending on which animal you place will prompt different songs or sounds for the specific animal.
The colors are bright and fun for a toddler. My 2.5 year old likes to push the buttons and make the characters go down the slide and sing along to the songs. I like the size of the characters. They fit great in his little hands and are easy for him to hold and put on and take off of the designated spots on the farm. The toy is durable and stands up to rough toddler play. This is a great educational farm toy, and we will be buying the extension toys that go along with the set. I highly recommend this for the toddler in your life.
The toy is well made and has quality comparable to other name brands. The plastic is stiff, thick, and feels high quality. It has no strange odor, and all the surfaces are very smooth. The characters are very cute, and they are a great size for little kids to hold, and also very easy for them to play with. There are buttons that when pressed, you can hear Ms. Rachel talking, the voice/sound is very clear. It may not compare to the sound from your phone, but it is better than most of the other toys we have.
Our kid has been watching Ms. Rachel since he was very little, and he loves it. I also like the sound because this toy uses Ms. Rachel’s voice instead of random music or other sounds.
It is currently listed at $40, which is a little expensive, but the quality is very good. I will rate it 4.5 stars.
We love Miss Rachel! We have a toddler just turned two who is taking her own time in talking. Miss Rachel motivates her. This is a darling little farm that comes with Miss Rachel, a cow, and a pig, plus the farm. The farm has a windmill that spins, a rooster weather vane that turns, a bathtub that you press the button and the soap says come up, a two story barn with barn doors that open and close, a blanket to lay over the animals (that fortunately is attached to the farm), a button to press to make the carrots come up to feed the animals, a slide from the second story of the barn to the bathtub. There are lots of things to encourage the development of fine motor skills.
There are also interactive songs and voice prompts.You can press a button to hear either old MacDonald had a farm or bingo songs. If you continue to press the button, it switches songs or the song tapers off so it doesn’t go on forever (thank you!). You can also place Miss Rachel, the cow or the pig on a circular spot in the barnyard and hear various phrases or prompts. Miss Rachel may ask you to feed the cow, sing a lullaby to the animals, give the pig a bath. If you put the pig or cow in that spot, you get different prompts. There is a switch you can flip to go from night to day which changes the prompts. Many of the prompts ask you to sing or make animal noises prompting the kids to vocalize.
One problem that I had with this interactivity is that it didn’t always work. You could put the animals in there or Miss Rachel and nothing would happen. I did discover that rocking the figures back-and-forth a bit helps cue the prompts.
There are very few toys for the age range from 1 to 2 that are safe for a one year-old and interactive enough to hold their attention as they grow to be to an older toddlers. This is one of those toys. I like that it inspires the kids to in imaginative play and encourages language development. It also comes with the bonus learning card with brief descriptions of ideas and skill building tips
Another thing I like is that, on the bottom of the farm, the on-off switch, also allows you to set the volume between quiet and loud. Almost everything on the farm except Ms. Rachel and the two animals stays attached to the farm (and the figures will stay in place if put in certain circular cutouts) so this is an easy toy to pick up and there very few pieces that can get lost. It needs batteries but those are provided.
I decreased my rating from 5 to 4 because the prompt always work that I like this toy so much I would still order it again and give it as a gift. I think the current price of about $40 is on the steep side. It’s a good toy but I wish it was in the $25-30 range.
Perfect for kids that love Ms. Rachel
This Ms. Rachel Learning Barn is such a fun and interactive toy for toddlers. It features bright colors, lots of ways to manipulate and play with the actual structure and three figures (Ms. Rachel farmer, pig, and cow). The music and phrases are clear and audible, not muffled or cheap sounding. No knock off voice here, it’s Ms. Rachel herself. Overall, this worked well and my child was able to easily play and press the buttons. It’s a decent size, not overly large or small but perfect for toddler hands. I do feel all the Ms. Rachel toys are a little on the expensive side, but the quality is unmatched.
