Mounted this baffle on a 7 foot pole. Mounted about 4 1/2 feet above ground level, Coming up on 2 weeks and not 1 squirrel has been successful. I see them on the ground picking up the feed the birds drop.
My feeder is equipped with a camera so I know there hasn’t been any visitors other than birds.
This works as described and keeps the squirrels off. Came with clear directions and easy to use screws. Happy with the purchase! Note it does add weight so the pole needs to be sturdy! My first pole came in pieces that screwed together but that one broke in a wind storm. Found a solid metal simple shepherds hook at local hardware store that is much better. It allows the solid collar on the baffle to slip into place over the top of the pole. New pole is square and the baffle fits tight because the screws are at right angles.
We have struggled for years with squirrels in our bird feeder. This is just what we needed. It was easy to put together and install on the holder, and we haven’t seen a squirrel in the feeder since.
Works as advertised. Just be careful that squirrels can’t get a running jump to your bird feeder pole. Was initially disappointed in the baffle after I installed it only to realize after seeing it that a squirrel used my outdoor grill as a launching point to get it above the baffle. Moved the grill and watched the squirrels unsuccessfully attempt to get around the baffle. Lesson learned.
It works great! Squirrels have tried getting to the bird feeder but fail. As free so many fails they no longer try anymore and just eat anything the birds spill.
