Nice Feeder Tips
Sturdy but with two issues squirrels master quickly. 1) The perches are too loose and need to be crimped shut onto the feeder, otherwise they’ll fall off and you may never find them. 2) The lid doesn’t latch. Use florist wire to strap the lid shut. Starting on one side of the hanger wire attach a length of wire (doubled up and twisted), run it through the metal piece holding the handle ring to the lid, then wrap it tightly on the other side of the hanger. Be better if the lid was keyed to hold it in place but this is my work-around for all feeders with this sort of design flaw. Takes awhile for squirrels to sort this out and sometimes, they never do.
Beautiful green which blends right in with the trees. It holds A LOT of seeds. Extremely well built.
Took a few days before the birds became sure it is not a trap, woodpeckers making first attempts, followed by nuthatches, titmouse, finches, sparrows, cardinals, blue jays, and grackles. etc. the summer group.
Possibly Important – when you hook on the 3 provided perches so the jays and cardinals can sit and eat, squeeze the attaching hooks closed with pliers so the first squirrel attempts don’t knock the unattached perches off. In the beginning when the squirrels were still trying and hopeful and then really frustrated, they knocked off 2 perches and we still can’t find 1. A squirrel retaliation. Be warned.
Little birds Rule!!
Purchased to keep the bigger birds away from feeder. It is fun to watch the chickadees, sparrows and finches use feeder. They climb right inside and feed to their little hearts content.
Sturdy! Holds a lot of seeds which I love. Good craftsmanship, but definitely not squirrel proof. It’s been up three days and the squirrels have already figured out how to hang from the top. Grab the seeds and go back to the top and eat them or just hang there and eat them.
