I feel that this is a decent little rod reel combo for backpacking or to throw in theback of the truck once you get a nice case for it. I bought the smallest reel for panfish. A case would be a must since the parts are a bit more delicate than the bigger models. I am unsure of the durability and feel of the connection points on the rod though without putting lots of casts on it. Time will tell but it should be good enough for casual fishing not tournament level fishing. Overall it’s a decent reel and should work for most people.
This is an affordable fishing combo. I give it 5 stars keeping in mind, this is a budget combo and not mid or high level fishing equipment.
This would be a great combo for a kid who likes to bike or walk to their local fishing spot.
The rod has blue dots on each segment that helps you line them up when assembling. Once assembled, it’s tight with no loose joints.
It comes with a spare tip segment which is a great idea as that is what you are most likely to break on a fishing rod.
The storage bag is not padded, but it does keep the pieces organized. There is no bag for the reel.
I typically I don’t like bright colored rods, but the white does help you see it if you lay the rod or the rod segements in the grass while fishing. The reel is matching white.
If you want to make a simple improvement to upgrade this combo, replace the fishing reel, which is a bit heavy, with a lighter mid-level reel. Kast King has some good spinning reel options to choose from that would work great with the rod.

The reel: Before spooling I spun the reel handle and it rotated 5-6 revolutions — a good litmus test on its smoothness and the 9+1 bearing system is evident. The bail opens/closes with a quiet click. Feels like my Pfluger Supreme XT. The drag is impressive for a spinning reel @ 17.5lbs. I was able to pull in a moss covered bass with no issues.
The rod: the pieces fit together very tightly & is secure. Alignment dots help in lining the guides up. Note that the pieces do not compress against each other, which is by design — don’t force it! Sensitivity is very good for a 4 piece. Rod bends more like a M instead of a ML, but it is still forgiving enough to use braided line. I’ve tossed 1/4oz jigs, chatterbaits, & weightless senkos with no issues. This rod will be a great addition for the traveling angler and is well worth the price. I have a $200+ TFO travel rod (rod price only) and this performs just a notch below that rod. Bargain for the combo especially when KK includes an extra tip. Excellent!
I got this travel combo for kayak fishing. I’ve only had it out a couple of times, so I can’t speak to the durability, but so far it seems great. The rod is very light and very responsive. I was worried about the size of the gap left when the rod segments are put together (see the photo), but it’s designed this way. The joints fit tightly and the rod feels like a one-piece when assembled. The guides are stainless steel with ceramic inserts, and they work great. And it’s so small when disassembled that it’s super easy to stow in a kayak. The reel operates very smoothly. The drag is smooth and strong. The handle has a comfortable rubber grip. The button to fold down the handle for transport is nice. The only negative I could find at all, and it’s mainly cosmetic, is that the screw used as the pivot for the handle is not stainless, and it has started to show a little rust. But overall this is a great travel combo, especially for the price.

There are too few quality travel fishing combos that are also affordable. The KastKing Centron Lite Travel combo is a welcome addition. The rod comes with a pouch with a chamber for each part, including the extra tip, ensuring organization and secure travel, though the pouch is not padded so you have to take care where you’re storing it. The rod fits together easily with alignment marks to neatly ensure that the line will run true through the guides. Once assembled the rod feels solid but is still light, true to its name. I wouldn’t say that the reel is super-light, but then I’m used to fishing light to extralight rigs, lighter than the combo I purchased. The reel is very smooth and sturdy. This is a combo that I’m going to keep in my car with some basic spinners so I can drop a line wherever I find myself without taking up too much space.
This is my first travel rod, and I’m excited to share my thoughts on it.
When disassembled, it’s about 19–20 inches long, which makes it a great size for fitting into a backpack when traveling to those more remote shoreline fishing spots. I also like that it comes with a carrying case that rolls up nicely when not in use. It’s compact and lightweight. Once assembled, the rod feels solid without sacrificing flexibility—something I was curious about since I’m more used to two-piece rods.
A couple of things to note during assembly: on the reverse side of the rod at each connection point, there are blue dots that help line up the guides perfectly. There’s also a thinner black section at each connection point. While some may not like the look, I actually appreciate this feature because it makes it much easier to identify each connection point and gives you a good grip when making adjustments or disassembling the rod.
I was also impressed with the reel that came with the combo. I spooled it with 20 lb braid, and it casts very well. So far, I haven’t had any wind knots, and the operation feels buttery smooth. My go-to reels in the past have been Penn and Shimano. They’re both excellent, but I’ve really come to appreciate the build quality and performance of KastKing reels.
Overall, this is a great travel setup, and I’ll probably pick up another one later in the yea
