High-quality soft and lightweight fabric with diffuse heat, but the controller could be improved
The TiMiCalda electric heated blanket is a high-quality, cosy option for our Canadian winters.

I selected the twin size, which measures 1.6 m 2.1 m—a generous size for individual use. We prefer separate blankets because my wife and I often choose different heat levels. The blanket arrived vacuum-packed and fluffed up nicely once opened. It is very lightweight, made of two layers of polyester fabric with rows of heating wires sandwiched in between. The top layer is Jacquard fleece—soft, fluffy, and patterned with an attractive quilted texture. The bottom layer is simulated sherpa flannel, which is also soft and gentle on the skin.

The heating wires are only noticeable when felt between the fingers or pressed against a hard surface. They are very malleable and do not add stiffness to the blanket. While they do not extend fully to the edges, I did not find this to be an issue during use.

Power is supplied through a secure buckled connector. The receptacle is designed to be waterproof, allowing the blanket to be hand-washed or machine-washed once the electrical cable is detached. The power cable is sufficiently long to be convenient: the controller sits 1.8 m from the plug, and another 3.0 m of cable extends from the controller to the blanket, giving a generous total length of 4.8 m to reach nearby outlets.

In use, the blanket heats up quickly but gently. The warmth is evenly distributed with no perceptible hot spots. There are four heat levels, and with our room kept at 18 C at night, I find level 2 already provides cosy, toasty warmth. The single button controls both power and heat settings: one press turns the blanket on at level 1, and subsequent presses cycle through levels 2 to 4 before powering off. A long-press function for on/off would be a welcome safety improvement, as an accidental momentary press can turn the blanket on unintentionally, and the current design requires cycling through all four levels to turn it off.

The controller also features a 4-hour automatic shut-off, marketed as a safety feature. However, I find it inconvenient, as I tend to wake up when the blanket cools. An 8-hour shut-off would be more practical.

The blanket carries UTL certification, which is reassuring from an electrical safety standpoint.

Overall, this is a high-quality electric blanket made from soft, lightweight materials with gentle, diffuse, and pleasantly warm heating. Unfortunately, the controller design could be improved, and for this reason I would give the product a 4-star rather than a 5-star rating.

Just right, not heavy, the wires are well concealed. It has only a few heat settings but is perfect for my kids. Each side of queen has its own plug which was a hassle for mr to set up. Of course each side has its own control. The creamy color is very nice. No odors or weird texture. The kids will love the sherpa underside. It warms the bed perfectly for them. It functions as advertised.

    I take it everywhere.
When it’s not hot out, this blanket is wherever I am. After losing 100lbs, I’m cold all the time and this now is my anchor; it’s gets drug all around the house and everywhere I go overnight that I can drive to. And so soft! Washes great too.

    Super cozy and warm
I’m writing this review underneath the warm blanket that I have on full settings (on one side). It’s late fall/early winter with 0C outside and I have the windows open, but thanks to this blanket I’m sitting here warm and cozy.

The fleece is very comfortable and blanket is very soft to the touch. My wife loves it as it’s making our late night movie binges a lot cozier. For the ladies, this may be just what you need to tackle the cramps during that time of the month, as it’s helped my wife tremendously too. As for me, it’s added a whole new dimension to couch gaming. It takes nearly half an hour to reach its proper heating level, which is not very noticeable because it already starts getting warm enough near the 5-7 min mark. I couldn’t tell much difference between the heat level and wish the first level was lower than it is.

Now to get to the logistics of it all. There are two sets of wires so you’ll need to plug it in on two sides to get heating on both sides of the blanket (imagine there’s a line cutting the blanket in half along its length on the bed). This is useful as you conserve energy if your partner is not using it at the moment. There’s individual controls on both sides too which is perfect because my wife likes it a helluva lot more warmer.

The wires are very long so you don’t need to worry about dangling wires or wires running around the room instead of neatly tucked (don’t tuck it into tight spaces though as it’s carrying a lot of current which is a fire hazard). One complaint I have is the label which is placed on the top side of the blanket. It’s an eyesore and you have to take off the sown part otherwise tearing it off will leave it behind making it look ugly still.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersThe Blanket So Good, I Bought a Backup (Because Benny Has Teeth)
The Blanket So Good, I Bought a Backup (Because Benny Has Teeth)

If “clouds and hugs had a baby,” it would be this blanket. I got the King size TiMiCalda Heated Blanket (100″x90″, Navy) and it is hands down the best blanket I’ve ever owned. It’s so soft and warm that you honestly forget it’s even electric — until you turn it on and suddenly feel like you’re wrapped in sunshine.

Let’s talk practicality: it heats evenly, feels plush even when off, and doesn’t have that weird “wire grid” texture most heated blankets do. Bonus: it looks classy, not like something you’d find in your grandma’s guest room.

Now for the real test — Benny, my blanket-obsessed gigantic 92 pound chaos gremlin. This guy has destroyed more electric blankets than I can count, so I didn’t just buy one of these I bought a backup. (And maybe three others for emotional security. Don’t judge.) The texture is so thick and luxurious that Benny loves burrowing under it like a fuzzy submarine, and every time he emerges completely covered in navy softness, I can’t stop laughing.

Even without the heat turned on, this thing keeps me warm — like, “midwinter cozy without touching the thermostat” warm. I swear it’s made from some kind of magic sheep fleece conjured by comfort wizards.

If you want a blanket that looks amazing, feels divine, and makes you forget what cold even is, get this one. And maybe a spare — especially if your pet thinks blankets are chew toys.

The Heating Element is good but not for everyone
Pro Tip: Let the blanket air out prior to use for maybe 1-2 days outside.

The heating element is quite fast and gets warm but not too hot. This is ideal for the cold sleepers and my Fiance loves it for watching movies on the couch in the basement. For actual bedroom use, this honestly gets a bit too warm to the point it’s uncomfortable but that’s based on our personality for having a colder temperature room for sleeping.

So far does what it is supposed to do.
Nice and cozy just in time with our freezing weather here in CT. One fault-it shuts off automatically in 4 hours but doesn’t seem to be a problem so far. Like it more every night!!

Thick & Plush After Washing, Doesnt Get Super Warm Even On High (UPDATE)
This really is a beautiful blanket—it comes all scrunched up from being vacuum sealed and looked kind of flat and thin at first, but once I washed it it fluffed right up and is nice and plush, and both the colour and the jacquard pattern are gorgeous! It was easy to wash, just follow the instructions, and I put it in the dryer for about 20 minutes on low and then let it air dry the rest of the way. Washing it also got rid of the odour that you can smell on it right out of the packaging, so I think that was just caused by the plastic it comes in.

It has four heat settings and a 4 hour shut-off; it doesn’t have any other type of timer, which is fine, it doesn’t claim to anyway, and the cord is nice and long. It doesn’t have dual side temperature control, so if you’re sharing it on a bed you both have to agree on the heat settings, but I got it to use as an extra large blanket for snuggling on the couch so it works fine for me.

The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it’s not as warm as I expected—even on high it’s about what would be closer to medium on other heated blankets I have had, and I think this is because the heated wires are super thin and tiny—this is nice in one way because once it’s fluffed up from washing you can’t really feel them at all, but I think they struggle a bit to get really warm because of their size. You can get around this by kind of tucking it all in around you which creates more heat, or putting another light blanket on top to hold the heat in. It’s average price for a heated blanket this size but I don’t think it’s as warm as a lot of others, so for $100 I would expect it to get warmer.

UPDATE: upgraded to 5 stars because after using the blanket multiple times it warms up really quickly and the heat is stronger than it was initially. I have another one that did the same thing – started off not very warm even on high and then for some reason started working really well, almost like the heating element has to settle or have heat run through it a few times to fully start working. Either way, it’s way warmer now and I rarely use it on high because medium is perfect.

    Absolutely love this
I got a Queen size to mostly use on our couch for movie nights and so far it is amazing. My wife and I like to keep it cold in our place for better sleep but during movie nights on the couch it can get a bit cold lol

This product solves it especially because this is a Queen size, we each get our own heat controller for each side. Since we both have different desired heat temperatures this works perfectly.

It comes in a pretty small box, and the blanket itself is vacuum sealed inside. Once unsealed, it became normal and soft and it didn’t have any weird smells(sometimes these kind of products do).

The material is super soft and very comfortable to the touch. You can definitely feel the wires throughout the blanket but when covered you don’t feel those wires at all.

The controller has 4 temperature options and honestly just on the first temperature it feels very cozy and warm, fourth one is too hot for me but my wife likes it. It also has auto shut off after 4 hours if you fall asleep with it.

Overall I love this blanket, its softness and even heat distribution especially with 2 left and right zones for different temperatures is amazing.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersHeats quickly thru entire blanket area. Cannot use on high setting for very long, too hot.
A little heavier than I expected, but nice and cozy. Heats up very quickly. I use it on high to warm the bed, than put it on low while I’m reading, and put it off just before going to sleep. In my opinion, high would be way too hot to use for very long. Room is kept at 66 degrees for the night, and this heating blanket makes it comfortable.
