Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersDecent drive for a decent price
Okay, I’ve been building and using computers for almost 40 years now. Never heard of this brand before to be honest. But given the whole AI boom and the decrease in availability for both storage and RAM thanks to everyone needed to fuel the next big thing, beggars can’t be choosers and most of the time these smaller companies are just buying batches from the larger manufacturers anyway so it’s worth a shot.

So in this case I tested the drive in an external m.2 to USB enclosure so already I know the read/write speeds aren’t going to be quite up to advertised rates most likely, so can’t really subtract points if I’m not gonna use it in the best possible manner. Mostly I wanted to check to see if it would 1) actually power on and work and 2) what my system was saying was actually there instead of what they claimed it was.

Firmware comes back clean. Serial numbers matched. No reads or writes at time of power on. It does support S.M.A.R.T., TRIM and VolatileWriteCache, so that’s nice. I mean pretty much every drive does anymore so no surprise, but nice to confirm it’s a legit drive instead of some dodgy piece of junk that you open up and find out it’s got some stripped out flash drive innards hot glued in there or something.

You can check the attached pictures for read/write speeds I got on USB-C which were respectable for not being put directly into the motherboard. So definitely no complaints there.

I’ve not ran it to death of course but so far it’s given zero indications with several diskmark runthroughs of any issues to be found in it which leads me to think it’ll last for awhile(all drives eventually die, after all). So all-in-all a pretty good little drive for a decent price, given the average cost of, well, anything anymore. So if you need a cheap drive to put in your system to run an OS or something, you could do a whole lot worse than this.

    SSD NVMe efficace

    J’aime

Installation simple au format M.2 NVMe

Dmarrage et chargement des applications plus rapides

    Bon rapport performances/prix

    J’aime moins

Great value for a budget drive, but don't expect top-tier speeds
I picked up the Fikwot FX520 128GB NVMe SSD to use in a secondary build, and it serves its purpose well. If you are looking to get a PC up and running on a strict budget, this is a solid choice.

The drive was easy to install, and the 3D NAND technology provides reliable performance for basic tasks like booting up the OS or running daily productivity applications.

However, it is important to manage your expectations regarding speed. While it is marketed as an NVMe Gen3 x4 drive, the read/write speeds are noticeably slower than many other SSDs I’ve tested in this category. Don’t expect blazing-fast file transfers or instant load times for massive, resource-heavy games.

    Pros:

    Excellent price-to-capacity ratio.

Compact M.2 2280 form factor fits easily in most motherboards.

Perfect for basic office work or older PC upgrades.

    Cons:

Speeds are on the slower side for an NVMe drive.

Bottom Line: If you prioritize saving a few bucks and just need a functional drive for a light-duty machine, this is a fantastic value. If you are a power user who needs high-speed performance for video editing or heavy gaming, you might want to look at a higher-end option.

    Great!
Ah Fikwot, that well known brand that is tried and tested…. erm…. ok maybe not 🙂

No jokes aside, this isn’t one of the more popular brands and most definitely isn’t a household name or at least not to my knowledge. All that being said though, it works a treat, it is most definitely 128GB and the speeds are as indicated. Installation is a breeze like all NVMe’s are depending upon what you are using it with I guess (such as device, enclosure etc)

It’s not the fastest SSD though that’s obvious from the description and like a lot of these “cheaper” SSD’s, they do start to slow down dependent upon the file and how full the SSD is also. The general rule of thumb is leave at least 10% of the total capacity free otherwise you’re likely to run into speed issues.

It does run warm but again that’s dependent upon what you have it inserted into and what the load on it is.

Is it value for money? Considering current memory prices then yes it is decently priced though obviously in the whole scheme of things, if you’d purchased this a couple of years ago then you’d probably be picking it up for at least half the current price, if not more!

If you can get a reputable branded named SSD for this sort of money then I’d say go for that however if not then this is a decent option though just maybe don’t rely on it for any sort of longevity as this is where these not well known brands tend to fall down.

    Thumbs up from me!

    Petit SSD efficace

A much-needed product in the current (as of mid-2026) computer hardware environme
Solid-state drives are such commodities these days that it’s pretty hard to go wrong when selecting one, even from a company that’s not considered “name brand” such as Samsung, WD, et al. In mid-2026, with the AI boom in full swing and showing no signs of slowing down, I expect consumers will turn to less-expensive, less-capacious alternatives for their PC building and upgrading needs. That’s where the Fikwot 128 GB NVMe SSD comes in.

The drive is a standard M.2 2280 form factor, which means it will easily fit most desktop and laptop motherboards. The packages comes with the necessary screws and a little screwdriver to make installation easy.

Being that it’s only 128 GB, you’ll need to temper your expectations in terms of what exactly what you can fit on it and how well it will perform. For Windows, it can hold the OS and some basic applications. Gamers and content creators will need supplemental storage. Most Linux distributions will be able to stretch the space a bit further since they tend to be less bloated. Performance-wise, lower-capacity SSDs will not be nearly as fast as others with more space. It will be snappy enough for casual computing, but again, power users will probably find it lacking.

The manufacturer claims the product has, “5-year after-sales service and 24/7 customer support. Fikwot is committed to providing reliable storage solutions and responsive customer service.” That’s all well and good to say in a product listing, but I am always skeptical of such claims when coming from a comparatively unknown company so caveat emptor.

In the end, this drive is best suited for basic builds, lightweight operating system installs, or secondary roles where speed and capacity are not critical. With SSD prices climbing to unreasonable levels, options like this may be the only realistic choice for people trying to stretch limited budgets. It is inexpensive and functional, but buyers should keep their expectations modest and remain cautious about the long term support promised in the listing.

    Not Plug&Play!
    NOT Plug&Play.

I went through two docks and two cables, confirming each time that the docks were properly connected and reading as online, but this drive could not be found. Not through Acronis “Add Disk” nor though Windows. It was super frustrating. I finally tracked down the booklet of directions with its teeeeeensy tiny writing, and saw that it recommended using the Disk Management console to add it. Well, that worked! The second I opened up Disk Management it started pitching a fit about initializing this drive and then formatting it.

I’m quite a bit at a loss as to the setup, though. I’ve used many kinds of drives over the years, internal inside a chassis, external connected via USB, in enclosures… and I’ve never had one that didn’t read entirely unless it had gone bad. How utterly confusing. Well, I’m posting my travails in case it can help someone else!

I haven’t had any problems since I got it up and running. I’ll post later on if any errors or problems with longevity show up.

A cheap boot drive for a bad storage market, with speeds to match
128GB is a size the drive market mostly walked away from years ago, and it’s back for a grim reason: storage prices went up and small drives started making sense again. It’s a standard M.2 stick that drops into most desktop and laptop boards. It ships with the mounting screw and a tiny screwdriver, so you’re not hunting for hardware in the middle of a build, and it handles the usual housekeeping, TRIM, health reporting, hardware encryption. As a boot drive for a light laptop, a home server or a mini PC, it does the job and feels instant next to any spinning disk. Two notes, both about expectations. It’s slow even for its own generation, and real transfers land well under the headline number, so if you move large files all day you will feel it. And this size fills fast. An operating system plus updates leaves you managing space instead of forgetting about it, and it’s too small for a game console. As a modest system disk or a spare drive in an enclosure, it’s cheap and it works. Expecting top-tier speed is the mistake.
