I was ready to send it back! I fluffed the bed and let it sit for 24 hrs and now I can’t keep my dogs out of it. It’s nice and deep, they curl right in it. It doesn’t have a zipper to remove the insert (why?), the whole bed goes in the washer. If you have a front load washer or don’t mind going to the laundromat, the bed should be easy to wash. I have a 90lb rottie and 45 lb pup. They fight over the bed, the smaller dog wins most days.
When it arrived, it came in a box that was much, much smaller than I expected, but once the pupper opened his present on Christmas morning, we discovered it had been vacuum packed and compressed. It was a bit of a pain separating all the chunks of memory foam from each other, ’cause I’m a bit arthritic ‘n all, but we got through it and it was well worth it once it expanded to full size.
I looked at several different versions of this cushy donut.
The reason I was sold on this one was the memory foam chunks. Everything else is stuffed with polyester fiber. I hate that crap. The pillow I sleep on is made of chunks of memory foam, so I know that if this is an ideal design for me, it must be ideal for my pupper as well. It can form to any shape, yet spring right back into its normal shape. It won’t eventually just crush into a lopsided lump. There’s memory foam chunks in the donut ring and chunks in the center, which is a separate compartment altogether. This thing is going to be awesome. I wish the memory foam were in some kind of removable cloth bag that was zipped inside for easy removal for washing, but it’s fine for now and the price was excellent. My good boi loves it and, to be honest, I didn’t expect him to spend as much time as he does in it. He typically prefers to lounge on the sofa with me and/or my wife and he sleeps in the bed with us every night. But I can tell he really loves his donut nest.
