This shredder replaced a 20 year old 8 sheet Fellowes that I had purchased new. That poor old guy was struggling to shred 1 or 2 sheets per pass in the end.
This new 12 sheet Aurora micro cut
shredder arrived in perfect condition packed inside a double reinforced cardboard box. The shredder seems to be well designed and strongly built. It shreds paper into tiny pieces which pack closer together inside the waste bin, creating more space so it does not have to be emptied as often.
My first test run never even got close to its 60 minute max run time because it shreds so much paper so quickly. And quietly.
I like it. A lot. I have now lost my excuse to clean out a credenza full of obsolete confidential documents.
Size is great, seems durable and you can shred up to 14 pages and run for 20 minutes. Easy to use and on wheels. Good value for the money and I use it for my home, but is durable for small office.
‘ve been looking for a good cross cut shredder for over a year now. After reading many reviews, I decided to get this Aurora and I’m very happy with the decision. The shreds are truly micro – could be used as confetti, they are so small – no worries about privacy with this shredder! I’ve given it quite the workout this first week, shredding 10 years of old documents that ran about 100 pages each (don’t ask). It ran easily for the half hour at a time I devoted to the work, never jammed once and never overheated. I do wish the bin was a little larger, but it’s easy to pull it out and empty it into the larger trash can we have sitting next to it. All in all, for the price, it’s a good deal. I hope it lasts as long as our 20 year old straight cut shredder that still works. I’m still amazed at how small the shredded pieces are!
I finally had to retire my old shredder for my home office, which I used for over 10 years. However, I had been putting up with its limitations for a while. This new Aurora micro-cut shredder is so much better that it made me realize how long I had put up with the old machine.
I love the micro-cut results. It not only makes it virtually impossible for anyone to ever piece together, it also compacts the paper shreds into a much smaller space. It already has a large basket to catch the shreds, but this means it includes more shredded paper than a normal line-cut shredder.
And there are lots of nice indicators to display valuable information. For example, if the shredder has been running too long and needs a time-out for a while, it automatically shuts down and turns on a warning light, to make sure the motor lasts longer.
I proved this warning out because I had accumulated a big stack of papers to shred. My old shredder could only handle one or two pages at a time, but this new one was fine with 6-10 pages. That meant I was able to get through most of the stack in one session. That was when it timed out. It was good to see. The next day I quickly finished the stack. The whole time it took me was far less time than I expected.
Plus, it is much quieter, which I like a lot. I often had to postpone shredding to prevent from bothering others. This is quiet enough that the noise isn’t a problem to use it anytime. I highly recommend this shredder.
I bought this to replace a 10 year old unit I had that died. It works great, the removable catcher is a really useful feature (my old one I had to remove the head to empty the bucket). The pieces are tiny and the thing runs really quietly.
I didn’t think for one second that you COULD buy a shredder that didn’t have a lock out option. My old one had a physical plastic key that had to be inserted in a slot for the unit to work. This one simply has an on-off button which any kid is going to master in about 5 minutes and quietly shred everything they can get their hands on.

Excellent performance for home use—this Aurora micro-cut shredder handles everything I throw at it with ease. The micro-cut pattern gives real peace of mind for data security, and the continuous 60-minute run time is impressive.
It might be a bit of an overkill for casual home users, but if you care about protecting sensitive information, this is absolutely the right machine. Quiet, efficient, and solidly built—worth every penny.
I LOVE IT!!!! So easy to shred. I bought bags for it too. Just have to watch the back as it has a tendency to fill up so I have to push it forward. It’s so much quieter than the small one we had. The auto feed works well when the pages are all the same size. I found that it stops if a smaller size paper is between larger ones. But over all it works great and saves me lots of time.
