    Better than expected
    I really like this solar charger. I was a bit dubious if it would be good enough for my purpose but now after using it a couple of weeks I realise it is just perfect. I bought it to put on my motorcycle as it has a parasitic drain of the battery that I can not find. It would normally go from a full battery to empty in about 4 or 5 days. The charger is easy to attach after riding the bike and it has kept the battery charged from about 12.4 to 12.7 volts in low sun, with rain and cloud cover, we’ve only had a few sunny days since i bought it. I do not move the panel to chase the sun, it just faces North. There is ample lead to sit the panel at the front of the bike, or to sit it on my truck parked next to the bike. This saves me time now that I don’t have to hook up a charger every 2 or 3 days so that the battery doesn’t get too low. I also wont go through as many batteries as I have over the time with them continuously going flat. I would highly recommend one of these to keep your battery topped up.

It is not designed to rapidly recharge a large battery that has already been drained down to a no-start condition. Outdoor use also means periodically checking for corrosion and general wear. Waterproof construction is reassuring, but nothing outdoors earns a lifetime exemption from inspection.

    As a maintenance device, this makes the most sense for a healthy 12V battery that simply needs help staying charged during storage. Its limitations are straightforward, modest power output, heavy dependence on sunlight, and no realistic expectation of quickly reviving a dead battery.     The first solar battery maintainer that actually works
    This 7.5-watt solar battery maintainer has worked much better than the other similar products I have tried. I placed the panel on the windshield where it receives direct sunlight, connected it to the vehicle, and it has been maintaining the battery without causing any noticeable drain. That may sound basic, but several other solar maintainers I tested either did not provide enough useful output or seemed to consume power instead of helping.

    The panel feels solid and has a protective frame around it, so it does not feel overly fragile when being moved or positioned. The included connection options are also convenient because it can be connected through the 12-volt outlet or directly to the battery with the clamps, depending on the vehicle and how it is being used. The indicator lights make it easier to confirm that the panel is receiving sunlight and connected to the battery.

    This is a maintainer rather than a powerful battery charger, so it should not be expected to quickly recharge a completely dead battery. Its purpose is to offset normal standby drain and help keep a healthy 12-volt battery from slowly discharging while the vehicle sits. For that job, it has performed very well.

    Among the different brands I have tested, this is the only one that has consistently worked as expected without draining the battery. Overall, this is worth the money for a vehicle that is not driven regularly or tends to sit for extended periods.

    I use this portable solar trickle charger for my jet ski / PWC. When I remove this out of the box I placed it outside and connected it to a measuring source for electrical current to make sure that the solar panel was working. Once I connected this and tested the power output to confirm that it was working correctly I placed this unit on top of my personal watercraft. I ran the wires to the battery and left it on my personal watercraft for approximately 12 hours. I came back and put a voltage meter on the battery to confirm that the battery was charging. When I initially tested the battery the battery voltage output was approximately 11 volts. After placing this charger onto the battery and leaving it for approximately 12 hours and both in sunlight and in clouded light the unit was working and charging the battery. The unit has a good fit and finish The solar panels are cleared they’re not cloudy and they have a consistent output around 6.8 to 7.5 watts. Over the 12-hour span that this charged my battery the battery got up to approximately 12.1v. I periodically checked on the battery to make sure that it wasn’t being overcharged or overheated and that this unit was shutting itself off when the battery was reaching full charge. The unit consistently shut itself off when a full charge was reached. The gator connections that connect to the battery are well made and maintain a good connection to the battery. The solar panel trickle charger has a solid field to it and doesn’t feel flimsy like some other ones that I have used previously. Good value for the money when comparing to units that are sold by retail stores. Over a 12-hour test cycle I didn’t experience any issues and it continuously charged my PWC battery.

    Let me address the elephant in the room right out of the gate: the listing says lead-acid, AGM, gel, SLA, etc. It does not explicitly say LiFePO4. I took the gamble anyway because the charge profile on these PWM controllers typically floats around 13.8-14.4V, which is within the acceptable range for lithium iron phosphate. Three months in on my 100Ah marine battery and it’s been flawless. There have been no overcharge events, no BMS trips, steady float maintenance. Your mileage may vary depending on your specific battery’s BMS, but for my setup it’s been a set-it-and-forget-it solution.

    What’s working:

    The smart controller actually works. The red light shows charging, green shows full, and it genuinely stops pushing power when the battery is topped off. I checked with a multimeter the first week because I didn’t trust it. 14.2V peak, then it drops to float. No drama.

    Build quality surprised me. Tempered glass, solid ABS frame, no flex or creak. It’s been rained on, hit with salt spray, baked in direct sun, and it looks the same as day one. The waterproofing claim isn’t marketing fluff.

    Installation is brain-dead simple. SAE connector clicks right in. Suction cups held fine but I ended up screwing it down permanently because I’m on a boat and things move. The included cables are decent gauge—no immediate need to upgrade.

    Bottom line: Affordable, well-built, smart enough to trust with an expensive battery. Would buy again for the other boat.

    I have had battery issues with my vehicle most likely because I tend to not drive it for extended periods of time and there is an issue that I had to have resolved at the dealership. I wish I had the AeternaSol 7.5 Solar Car Battery charger as it would have saved me from having to take my heavy AGM battery out of the vehicle to recharge it.

    I usually use a NOCO smart charger to recharge the battery and even though there are accessories to charge the battery without removing it, I cannot have a long wire running from my house to the engine compartment. This solar battery charger solves the issue as I can place it inside my vehicle with the charger plugged into the cigarette lighter adapter.

    The unit is lightweight but has a robust build and includes suction cups to secure it to your car’s windshield. The unit is made of a water proof material that also resists impacts, so it has high durability and longevity.

    Luckily my battery is fine and fully charged but I wanted to see if the unit provided the “trickle” charge the manufacturer claimed, so I connected it to my Fluke multimeter to check the readings. Surprisingly the solar charger’s output was consistent (especially in direct sunlight) and only slightly decreased when the charger was partially covered.

    It should be noted that the output was measured on a very warm, sunny, midday (expect lower output in cloudy weather). The safety manual also suggests to not leave the charger running for long periods of time unattended. The price is reasonable but comparable to market offerings.

    The solar charger works as intended and is something that is worth it for convenience alone.
