This is heavy duty, high quality, and such a great item to have on hand for emergencies. It charges well and lasts a long time! I only used it for one item tho, haven’t used it while out camping or anything yet. It functions exactly as described and as expected. Easy to open and close, charge, and understand how to use it. Clever setup for backup powe
I don’t camp or fish, but I do live in Florida where we’re just one hurricane away form weeks without power. This is a great little compact setup for the casual or occasional user. It is relatively light, though far heavier than flexible panels, factoring performance over weight.
It is styled like a small camo briefcase, with 3 panels in a triptych fold that protects all 3 panels. On the outside of the folded case is a pocket where the power module is located, and has room to store accessory cables. A 3-way USB cable supporting USB-C, Lightning and Micro-USB is provided, and connects to a 5V USB 3.0 outlet. There is also a 12V coaxial output, with alligator terminal clamps for charging car batteries (It doesn’t have the power for an emergency jump-start, but it can be used to charge a dead battery prior to use).
Unfolded, there are 4 eyelets, one at each corner, for hanging or bungeeing into place. Two carabiners are also included.
The triptych fold allows you to position the panels like a privacy screen, or lay the panels on top of the device you are charging to protect it from overheating. I was able to use this with my digital telescope to make a Timelapse video of the sun, looking for transits of space junk and sunspots.
It also came in handy during a road trip, laid across the luggage cover in an SUV, we were able to charge devices while the car was turned off with what sunlight was coming through the window. I was never able to get a measured power level as high as the 30W claimed, and the charging voltage was relatively weak on the USB port.
Great portable solar charger for soooo many applications!
This things is awesome. It’s well made, easy to deploy and stow away, and its compact size make it easy to travel with or tuck away in your vehicle for camping. Could not be easier to use as all of the cables and plugs are included. It worked right out of the box and even on a mostly cloudy day was able to get a decent charge on a small flashlight. In full sun, the charge rate is much higher. I have not tested the waterproofness yet and don’t really plan to use it in wet conditions, although other than the actual plugs, I don’t see why it would not be waterproof! Great value option and super easy to use for any traveler or adventure! I plan to use it remote camping and possibly as a trickle charger on my boat for long overnight trips.
Super portable solar panel that works easily right out of the box
This solar panel works great, it folds up to about the size of a small textbook and the cables can tuck into a small pocket in the front. The panel is super lightweight for backpacking or just carrying around. I can see how this would work perfectly at the beach, you could not only use it to charge your device, but it could also shade your device while charging, preventing overheating. The efficiency seems to be on par with what is advertised, and could generate a charge by just putting up against a window in my living room for testing. It will output either 5 or 12v depending on which port you use. The only things i’d change would be i wish there were a zipper on the front pocket, and that it would use a standard solar connector for the charging box so you could use it with other backup batteries. But other than those 2 things it works great.
