Super fast drive that works for both computer and phone
I’m thrilled with this flash drive, and it’s much better than the ones I was using before.
First, the most distinctive feature is the ability to connect to both USB-C and USB-A ports. This makes transferring files between a computer and a phone an absolute breeze. You slide the tab on the side to pop out the connection that you want. When you aren’t using it, the tab stays in the middle, and the connectors are protected inside the casing.
Did I mention that it’s fast? I’ve been using older flash drives, and this one transfers large files very quickly. I didn’t even get a loading screen on a 900-page PDF, and videos don’t take too long either. Because it can plug into a phone, it’s entirely possible to use this as extra camera or video storage. This drive is in exFAT by default, so it’s flexible across systems. I’ve personally used it with my Windows pc, my Android phone, and my Linux pc, and it worked perfectly on all of them, registering immediately with no fuss.
The casing of the flash drive is made of sturdy metal, and it seems like it would survive a fall with no problems. There’s a carrying cord included in the package that loops through one corner of the drive and gives added flexibility if you want to take it around with you.
I think the price is more than fair for the storage size and special features. My annoyance at moving things between platforms is a thing of the past, and the drive is well-made and super portable on top of that.

I was looking for a simple way to give each of my 12 electronic repair shops its own dedicated storage device so I can keep everything organized and separate. I wanted 128GB because that is more than enough storage for what I need, but I also wanted both USB-A and USB-C so I would not have to carry an adapter. The 128GB External SSD USB Drive, 520MB/s USB-C & USB-A Portable SSD turned out to be exactly the solution I was looking for.
I really like the design of the 128GB External SSD USB Drive, 520MB/s USB-C & USB-A Portable SSD. The sliding mechanism lets me switch between USB-A and USB-C by simply pressing down and sliding the bright orange button in either direction. It is inventive, practical, and very easy to use. The metal body feels sturdy and gives the drive a solid, durable feel. I have tested the transfer speeds and can confirm they are right where advertised. The versatility and functionality are excellent for using this with both computers and phones. The build quality, accuracy, ease of use, and overall quality are impressive, and the value for the money is definitely there.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this product because the 128GB External SSD USB Drive, 520MB/s USB-C & USB-A Portable SSD gives me the storage capacity, speed, and flexibility I need without adding another adapter to my tech bag. I have had zero hiccups with it so far, and the compact design makes it convenient to keep one with me or assign one to each location. Lotsa bang for the buck
My initial reaction was, “Why?” It’s not very large for a flash drive. Duel connectors are common. And the speed is faster than my current flash drive, but not a lot faster.
I loaded it up with music videos using a thunderbolt connection to my main computer. I also loaded my existing flash drive with the same music videos. Loading speeds felt a bit faster with the fanxing SSD than with the older flash drive. I then moved the files to a laptop. Again, I used a thunderbolt connection. And, again, the SSD felt a bit faster. But, gee whiz, I’m just not as much in a hurry as these bits of electronics want to provide. I didn’t use testing software or a stopwatch. I went by my sense of patience.
OK, I again thought, “Hummm.” Then I looked up the price of this drive as well as the price of my almost as fast flash drive. This SSD drive cost a third of the price of the older flash drive. Mine is on the high end of price (now,) but this speed and size in a regular flash drive are generally pricier than the fanxing SSD drive.
The size didn’t bother me a bit. It is small enough. It’s a good buy, although a bit of a niche product.

Drive is pretty fast, at first, then speed drops.
While I never reached the ‘520 MB/s’ speed in reading or writing. The drive is pretty nice
I uploaded my speed test results. I hit a max write speed of 40.38 and max read speed of 421.
This drive is very fast at first. then after 15 minutes or so, the speed really drops. Probably the buffer.
Now these are my test results. The 2 programs closely match. They are doing different kinds of r/w tests.
If your familiar with these programs then you know.
My test system is the Asus B760m. using the USB 3.2 ports
Good quality build. I gave this 4 stars due to the declining speeds.
I also confirmed this SSD USB drive works in Android on my S23 Ultra and my older Note 8
My tests did show that this drive really has a capacity of 128GB.

The Pen Drive arrives in Reflective Cardboard Box. It says on the Box it says “FANXIANG SOLID STATE FLASH DRIVE F901 520 MB/S 128GB”. On the back of the Box which is very hard to read it directs you to a website to find out about warranty details.
Inside the Box we find on a Moulded Tray we find a Lanyard and a Pen Drive. Under the Tray we find a 20 Page Instruction Booklet and a Piece of Paper written in microscopic text. It is not that easy to read even with a magnifying glass. It tells us there a 5 Year Warranty. 2 Pages of the Instructions are in English.
The Instructions tell us that the Pen Drive is compatible with Windows, Mac Os, IPad Os, Android and Linux Systems. So, everything basically. It has instructions on how to eject a Pen Drive. It tells us that the following file systems will work for read and write operations on Windows Systems — exFat; NTFS; FAT32, but will not be recognised on HFS. On Mac Systems exFaT; HFS will work for read and write operations. NTFS for read only. FAT32 will not be recognised.
Interface Compatibility: USB 4 — USB C INTERFACE ONLY. USB 3.2 GEN 2X2 20 GBPS, USB 3.2 GEN 2 10GPS (ALSO KNOWN AS USB 3.1 GEN 2). USB 3.2 GEN 1 5 GBPS (ALSO KNOWN AS USB 3.1 GEN 1/USB 3.0); USB 2.0.

Capacity. The usual guff about there not being 1024 Bytes in Kilobyte(which there is) but actually 1,000 Bytes by “storage manufacturer capacity calculation specification”
The Pen Drive is a curious shape. It kind of resembles a little metal tin. Fanxiang is printed in the middle on one side. There is an Orange Slider. If you slide it all the way to the Right you have a USB C Male Plug. If you slide it all the way to Left you have a USB A Male Plug. Because of the Dual Male Plugs this makes the Pen Drive longer than it would have otherwise have been had it just been a USB A Male Plug. The Drive has a Name initially of F901.
I am was hoping to use this Pen Drive with a Digital Photoframe but the Pen Drive is too big because the Pen Drive is inserted underneath the Photoframe it actually jets out further than the legs of the Photo Frame so a Adaptor Lead may be necessary.
The Pen Drive arrives formatted in exFAT. 655, 360 Bytes Used. (640K). With 119 GB Free. 128,027,328,512 Bytes.
I copy 113 GB (40,000 files) worth of Files onto this Pen Drive from a Hard Drive. This was achieved in 1 Hour 16 Minutes. (1.48 Gigabyte Per Minute). This is pretty good considering I recently transferred about 600GB from Hard Drive to Hard Drive and it took an entire week to transfer at I would imagine USB 1.0 Speed.
I now have it plugged into the Digital Picture Frame via a Female USB A to Male USB A Lead because the Drive is too big to put it in as it is and it works a treat.
Good portable SSD! Huge step up from regular flash drives!
I came across this USB drive when it was recommended to me by the Amazon Vine Program, and I ordered it for testing and review. I thought it would be perfect for my situation, as I needed to transfer large amounts of files quickly between my PC and handheld game console without using a local network or cloud.
This is the Fanxiang External SSD USB Drive, model F901 at 128GB storage. It features an all metal zinc-alloy case, interchangeable USB connectors, and an included lanyard. It’s about as small as your typical USB flash drive, and there is an orange slider on the side to slide out either a USB-C or USB-A connector, which is great as you won’t need an additional USB adapter if your device only has USB-C ports to use. This is an external SSD, which is a huge step up in speed from conventional flash storage. It’s practically a SATA SSD crammed into a portable USB drive format.
Fanxiang boasts a 520MB/s transfer speed, and it feels like it’s an accurate statement. Right off the bat, I reformatted the drive as exFAT, and dragged in a 500MB zip file. It fully dropped into the drive instantaneously, took less than a second. I didn’t even see a progress bar pop up. I then dragged in some Linux ISOs, ranging up to several gigabytes each, and they only took a few seconds to transfer. This is quite a speedy drive. I ran some speed tests on macOS using AmorphusDiskMark, and it produced read/write speeds of about 500-550MB/s, which is as expected. While I had fast speeds transferring gigabytes of a single, continuous file, there will be some added time on transfers of numerous, smaller files. ADM reported much slower read/write speeds in that case. I tried the ADM benchmark on both a 14″ MacBook Pro (with M1 Pro) and a MacBook Air M1. Results were about the same, though one of the last transfer speed tests varied between 12-28MB/s for smaller, random file transfers.
It’s perfect as a turbo-boosted portable drive for dragging and dropping files on the go. I probably wouldn’t use this as a system drive to boot an OS, specifically due to the slow transfer speeds of small, random files, which will happen frequently when used like this. Not unless if you’re in an extreme pinch, or feeling brave with smaller form factor computers like a Raspberry Pi.
As of August 2026, this 128GB drive is priced around $37. This price absolutely comes from the current AI datacenter demand driving all computer memory prices up. It’s difficult to recommend based on the price, as I remember 128GB chips were priced about $10-15 a few years before it all happened. On the other hand, a 128GB portable SSD in the $30-40 range is as cheap as it gets right now, so if you are in need of a fast portable drive, I can tell you that this one gets the job done.
Solid, Fast SSD Device with Dual USB Connections
This Fanxiang drive is a dual SSD drive with 128GB of storage room. Dual means it has both USB-A and USB-C connectors. SSD means solid state drive which stores data differently from the standard flash drive. I had to research this a bit to see what the solid state was all about. It helps speed data transfers. I plugged this into my desktop computer and transferred 3 GB of picture files to the device in less than 1 minute. I was impressed with this. I also connected the SSD to my cell phone and copied all the pics from my phone and then plugged the SSD USB-A to my desktop and transferred all those cell phone photos to my picture files. This SSD drive allows for a faster transfer of photos than any of the previous methods that I have used before. The unit has a zinc alloy housing which should be stronger than some of the plastic portable drives. The plastic orange slide exposes either the USB-A or C or closes it so neither are exposed. The lanyard allows for easy carrying. The product is a good value though other SSD type storage like this one can cost as low as $20. The solid feel to this product is worth the extra cost.

It says SSD on the box and that isn’t a lie. Under the thumb-drive shell is a real SATA SSD sitting behind a USB 3.2 Gen 2 bridge. CrystalDiskInfo reads it as a full ATA device: SATA/600 link, ACS-4, SMART, TRIM, NCQ. That is a different class of thing from a normal USB stick, where you get a flash controller and nothing to inspect.
On a proper USB 3.2 Gen 2 port it benchmarks at about 552 MB/s sequential read and 497 MB/s write (CrystalDiskMark 9, 1 GiB, five passes). I ran it twice and got the same numbers within one percent, so that is the real ceiling and it is the SATA link inside the stick, not the USB side, setting it. Random 4K at queue depth 1 came in at 28 MB/s read and 37 MB/s write, and around 104/108 MB/s at deep queue, roughly 26,000 IOPS. That is low for a SATA SSD and normal for a 128 GB drive with very little NAND to spread work across. Fast for a stick, ordinary for an SSD.
The port you plug it into matters more than the drive. Plug it into a USB 2.0 port and everything flattens to 41 MB/s. On my mini PC the fast ports are on the front and the rear ones are USB 2.0, so my first run looked like a dud until I moved it. If your numbers are bad, check the port before blaming the drive.
It gets warm. The drive reported 41 C at rest, 47 C after some use, and 54 C right after a benchmark. Nothing dangerous, but the body does soak heat under sustained load, so do not expect it to stay cool during a long copy.
Smaller notes. Usable space is 119 GiB. Health reads 100 percent and the host read/write counters work, so you can track wear over time. The USB bridge hands Windows a placeholder serial (0123456789ABCDEF), and the real serial only shows up through SMART tools, which only matters if you manage a lot of drives. I only tested it empty with a 1 GiB working set, so I cannot say how it behaves on a long write once the cache fills.
Verdict: an honest little drive. It is what it claims to be, it does the speed it claims on the right port, and the ability to read SMART makes it more trustworthy than a generic stick. Buy it for a bootable toolkit, a portable VM, or a scratch drive. Do not buy the 128 GB version expecting capacity or NVMe-class random performance.

I am really enjoying this flash drive. I don’t know what I was expecting when I ordered it but I definitely wasn’t expecting something this nice. The drive feels very robust and well designed. I feel like it’s going to be able to put up with a lot of wear and tear. Comparing to the online product images, I actually felt like the drive is better looking in real life. I think the product images reflected the product well, but it does look quite nice in real life. I spent a majority of the time testing using my iPhone 15 Pro Max and my M2 iPad Air 11 inch with this flash drive. I briefly connected it to my studio Mac. In all the testing I can say that it was fast and I had no compatibility issues whatsoever. The listed amount of space is actually what I’m seeing in real life. Sometimes you see 128 GB listed and in real life you might get something like 111 GB. I’m actually seeing 128 GB available to me on all my devices. Transferring large multi gigabyte video files from my devices internal drives to this drive was seamless and fast. 128 GB is a little small for my uses but I don’t mind having a drive like this float around in my camera bag just in case I run out of space recording video. Overall, I think the asking price is relatively fair, considering the going rate for drives of this speed and quality nowadays. I would definitely buy this again, but preferably in a much larger capacity. Five out of five stars
a fast, compact and well made external SSD with excellent compatibility
I got this external SSD for transferring photos and large video files between my iPhone 15 Pro Max and Windows computer. Having both USB C and USB A connections built into the same drive is extremely convenient because there is no need to carry a separate cable or adaptor.
The metal casing feels solid and gives the drive a more premium feel than an ordinary plastic memory stick. The sliding mechanism protects whichever connector is not being used and operates smoothly. It is also compact enough to carry in a pocket or camera bag without taking up much space.
The drive was recognised immediately by both my phone and computer, with no additional software required. Transfer speeds are noticeably faster than a standard USB flash drive, especially when copying large 4K video files. This makes it useful for backing up footage or freeing space on my phone while away from home.
The 128GB capacity is sufficient for everyday documents, photos and a reasonable amount of video. There is also a small attachment point for adding a lanyard.
Overall, this is a fast, compact and well made external SSD with excellent compatibility.
