It works keeping fluid warm.
We bought this due to colder weather and the continued visits of humming birds. We have had numerous days of temperatures in the teens and this kept the hummingbirds fed. It is somewhat a pain to clean as the plastic gasket kept falling off. You have to be careful when you put it together with fresh sugar water. The sugar water container is what holds the two plastic base pieces together so you screw it on upside down.
Take care of your hummingbirds
It got down to 20 last night but with this on when I checked first thing in the morning my hummingbird food was not frozen versus the feeder in the back that did not have a heater on it which was frozen solid.
For people that just bring their feeders in at night and put them out in the morning please consider getting a heater like this. Hummingbirds go into tupor at night when it’s freezing and they need to eat first thing at the first crack of dawn and most people don’t get them out that early

Kept our left one hummingbird fed at it’s convenience until January when it decided to leave for good. Kept water drinkable through snow storms and one of the coldest NJ December’s on record.
Perfect for non-migratory hummingbirds in winte
This keeps our hummingbirds happy all through the central Washington winter. Anna’s Hummingbirds don’t migrate, and nectar is scarce when there’s snow on the ground. Hummingbirds found this immediately after we installed it, and they come back many times a day. Love it.

Works great and doesn’t keep the food too hot. Our yearlong resident came right to it during our first winter storm. I wish the top was flat instead of rounded for ease of filling and setting on a counter, but not a deal breaker.
