I decided it was time to pressure wash my entire driveway. After spending an embarrassing number of hours researching surface cleaners, the Westinghouse was the clear choice for heavy-duty home use with an electric pressure washer. It worked perfectly with my Greenworks 2500 PSI 2 GPM electric pressure washer. The price was a bit on the high side for a consumer-grade product, but it looked 10 times more rugged than most other consumer-grade surface cleaners and was much less expensive than true industrial models.
The unit comes completely assembled; just attach one or both of the the included quick-connect rods and start pressure washing. The stainless steel body is heavy and durable; the weight keeps it firmly on the ground and the four heavy-duty, rotating casters make it very easy to maneuver. For anything more than the smallest cleaning projects, the rotating casters are an absolute must-have feature; they make using the surface cleaner about as straightforward as vacuuming. (I can’t imagine trying to clean an entire driveway with one of those plastic “flying saucers” surface cleaners that scrape along with concrete.) The quick connects worked flawlessly (not one leak) and the the stiff bristle “skirt” around the entire unit pretty much eliminates any water kick-back so your shoes and pants won’t be soaked and filthy.
The unit is so quiet that several times I (carefully) lifted an edge to make sure the sprayers were actually working. They were, and they were spinning very, very fast! This unit won’t instantly remove decades of dirt and grime from your cement driveway, but it is pretty much indispensable as part of the overall cleaning process. I used it for the first pass and it fairly quickly removed the top layers of decades of ground-in dirt and crud. Next, I used various high-pressure nozzles to work the really tough spots; the nozzles worked well, but manually cleaning with nozzles invariably leave stripes, so I went then back over the whole area again with the surface washer, which almost completely eliminated any striping. I have a long driveway, so this was a two-day project. Without this surface cleaner, it probably would have taken at least three days and the results would not have been nearly as good.
Yes, this unit costs about $20-$30 more than most of the plastic flying-saucer models, but I think the price is absolutely reasonable for the incredible build quality. Trust me, the few extra dollars will save you many hours of time and effort, and give you a much better result.

I’ve done a lot of pressure washing, but this is the first surface cleaner attachment I’ve tried. It worked well on my concrete patio and aggregate sidewalk, and was definitely faster than using the standard wand. It worked OK but not great on my flagstone patio area and walkway. I needed to go back with the normal wand to clean out some of the cracks/crevices and uneven areas in the flagstones, but that’s understandable given the rough surface of the flagstones. One factor I had not previously considered is that the standard wand tends to aim the water in a particular direction, and can push the water and any accumulated dirt off the area being washed. With this surface cleaner, the jets direct downward only, and the water and accumulated dirt tends to pool in place unless the area is slanted enough to get good runoff. In some cases, I needed to go back with the standard wand to “push” the accumulation off the walkway. I’d guess this behavior is normal for a surface cleaner, and not a problem specific to this model.
Overall, this product seemed well made, with solid-feeling metal construction. One of the reasons I bought this model is that it has wheels, and that seemed like a good decision for making it easy to move over uneven surfaces.
Bought this to clean my natural stone patio prior to sealing it. Worked great on removing surface and light algae. Some tough spots had to be brushed away but didn’t discredit the unit as not being poor, just a really set in spot in porous material. This unit has a higher PSI rating than my washer but I’d rather have a unit that can go bigger rather than be limited if I switch later on. I also like this was all metal, some of the cheaper units were a plastic housing and the “upgrade” to me is worth the price. Very easy to maneuver and comes with two quick coupler rods to easily attach to your existing washer.
Great quality. I truly was surprised that it cleaned as well as it did. It won’t do what a direct pressure spray will taking off stubborn stains, but for general cleaning, especially if you have concrete with sealer applied, it works great. Best feature is it cleans evenly. As you pass it back and forth, the rotating spray evenly cleans. I wouldn’t say it saves a lot of time because you are splitting the pressure between two nozzles, but it does a more even job. The warrantee is great but I don’t see there is much to wear out. That said, good warrantee.
I was not expecting this from Westinghouse. This was not a name I associated with this type of product but was I every pleasantly surprised. Product is very well built and does a great job. The stainless steel body and high quality casters make it easy to use and very effective at cleaning our patio and driveway. Very glad I purchased this.
Used this for the first time and it made quick work or my 20’x25′ aggregate driveway and sidewalks. Was easy to hookup, and start using. I had a cheaper plastic surface cleaner prior and it worked okay but you had to hold it down under pressure so it was taxing after a while. This unit heavier and heavier and with the wheels just rolls along and no need to hold it down. Being heavier you do not want to pick the unit up by the washer wand. You will eventually brake the nozzle or pipe inside the wand. Just roll it any where you need it. I am using a 4gpm at 3800 psi washer and two passes over each section left it clean with no stripes. The sidewalk is smooth concrete and one pass there was sufficient. The aggegate holds the dirt a lot more. Time will tell on longevity of the unit, but with 1 time annual use I suspect it will last enough years to justify the initial cost and time savings.
I couldn’t be happier with the Westinghouse 16.5″ Surface Cleaner. It made cleaning my driveway and sidewalks so much faster than using a standard pressure washer wand. The wide cleaning path covers a lot of ground, and the dual spinning jets leave a clean, streak-free finish.
It’s easy to attach, glides smoothly, and doesn’t leave me exhausted after cleaning large areas. The splash guard also does a great job of keeping water and debris under control. If you have a compatible pressure washer, this attachment is absolutely worth the investment. It saved me time and delivered professional-looking results.
PWSCSS is Built Rock Solid
The Westinghouse PWSCSS surface cleaner is built rock solid. This is a very well built surface cleaner and does a really good job at cleaning the concrete driveway and sidewalks. I used it the first time with my gas powered power washer at 4,000PSI and it did a very good job cleaning off years of trees sap from our neighbors tree.
I have an old oil spot in the street in front of our home that has been there for years. I am going to try it on next. I got some chemical cleaner to help with that.
This is a really good product and is well worth the current asking price. I got i as a gift but I am happy to have it. I would buy another one today just like this one if I needed one.
