Complete system
Overall this is a complete package for irrigation. Set up is fast and it works great after adjusting the flows. Down graded one star as some of the drip head were not crimped on to the bendable stems and they pop off. Had to decide a crimp to make them stay on.
Great value and includes more than other start up kits for same price!
So I had a failure of our main garden hose setup so have not hooked it up yet, however, I went through it with our resident plumber (my father!) to confirm I could use it with quick connect setup via our regular garden hose (to reach an area our hookup is no where near), and he was very impressed with this kit! So far it is adjustable easily since we were able to attach quick connects, and it was easy to connect to each piece. In fact, this kit has everything you need to get started. For the price point I was blown away, in fact, I bought what seemed to be an identical kit for the same price on a sale day so I could have two, and when opening them up and testing them out, it was clear this kit came with way more startup pieces for the price!
This kit contains everything you could reasonably want in a watering system. Compared to other kits, this has several features that make it stand out and make it a better choice than other kits.
In the box, you get 100′ of ” tubing, 1: running during tool, 16 push-to-fit tees, 16 brass missing nozzles, 16 stakes that fit the tees, 4 plugs for the tees, 1 garden hose shut-off Y fitting with adapter, a bag of zip ties and a bag of nail down clips. They include a small roll of PTFE tape but you shouldn’t need it unless you are using the Y adapter for use with ” NPT pipe. The tubing is flexible and easy to work with and cuts easily with the included tool. The cutting tool is sharp and designed for tubing cutting. I like that it can lock closed since it is sharp. The other end of the tool acts as a push-to-fit release letting you remove tubing much easier than trying with you fingers. The stakes work very well with the tees seating very firmly. Check around on the other kits and they didn’t seem to include these which is a bummer because I would definitely buy more for other tees. The push-to-fit tees are a huge upgrade. They are very much like pneumatic fittings if you’ve used those. You just push in the tubing and if you need to release the tubing, you press down on the fitting to release using the tool. The misting nozzles are another huge upgrade. They are flexible and repositionable fitting directly onto the tees. You can also adjust the mist pattern slightly which leaves you with a very customizable solution. I got 1 bad one out of the 16 which was unfortunate so check before installing. Everything else was perfect!
To lay these out, figure that each fully closed misting nozzle covers about a 6″ area. It may be more if you have them installed higher. Then attach a stake on each tee and insert them where you need coverage. Then start at one end and insert your tubing into a fitting. Pull out enough tubing to reach the next during, cut, and install. Rinse and repeat. At the very end of your runs, you can either use a plug or if it works out, use two misting nozzles. I paired my kit with an automatic timer which completed the system making this fully automatic. I don’t have to give it a second thought now!
I really like this kit compared to my old one. It makes having a garden much easier. I only wish they offered options with more fittings but I could buy another kit if needed. Overall, this was easy to install, and works very well. I have all 15 of mine running at one time, split eventually (as I could) to each side of the Y fitting, and they all have enough pressure to cover their area. I’m probably picking up another kit. I’m very happy with this set!
I love this irrigation system! I was intimidated at first with having to set it up after my last foray with a different irrigation system that was solar powered and used my rain barrel, but this was so easy to set up!! The first system I used was much more complicated and pain staking with getting the tubes to connect (it involved heating up water and dipping the tube in each time to make it flexible enough to slide on), but I quickly discovered how much easier this system is because everything just slides in to the premade connectors and then you’re done. It’s so customizable, you can cut it at whatever length you need and attach as many pieces as you want.
For now I started with just zip tying the pieces to my trellis above the garden beds. I was going use the stakes (which are also easy to connect) but I realized this would be easier when I have to add new soil from shrinkage.
It comes with a little clipper to easily snip the hose to the lengths you need, and all of the connection pieces and end cap plugs and stakes. I was a little confused and intimidated trying to look at the minimal directions at first, but once I started messing with the pieces on my own it was so easy to figure out.
I’m going to install a sprinkler timer on the spigot to really make this the complete garden set up so I don’t have to worry about forgetting to water my garden anymore, especially in this summer heat, or for when I go out of town so my plants can survive on their own till I get back.
Built for Growing Gardens
I received this through Amazon Vine, and the combination of Amazon and Thiswing arrived at exactly the right time because my garden seems determined to keep expanding every season.
A few years ago I was watering everything with a hose. Now I am up to seven separate irrigation zones spread across raised beds, containers, pollinator planters, and various hanging baskets and window boxes. Every time I think I have the system finished, another planting project appears and suddenly I need more coverage.
This kit gave me plenty of tubing to work with, and I liked having multiple mounting options included. The stakes helped keep everything where I wanted it, and the tubing was flexible enough to route around existing beds and supports without much frustration. Once assembled, the system delivered a consistent mist that covered the target areas well. The adjustable brass nozzles are a nice feature because different plants often need different watering patterns, and being able to fine tune the spray helped avoid wasting water on pathways and mulch.
The brass components feel more durable than the plastic nozzles found on many budget kits. Everything stayed in place once installed, and the tubing appears sturdy enough to handle full season outdoor use. I also appreciate how easy it is to expand or modify the layout later, which is important because gardens rarely stay the same from year to year, mine certainly does not.
For gardeners managing multiple beds, growing vegetables, flowers, or container plants, this system provides a practical way to automate watering while conserving water. It has already become another piece of my ever growing irrigation network, and that means less time dragging hoses around and more time actually enjoying the garden.
