    Nice durability, quality and functio
This cable pair worked well to extend the range of distance to connect my battery pack to my solar panel allowing me to get a better distance away and well into the sun for a good bath of cosmic radiation. The connectors are good quality and easy to join and separate with other cable pairs that I have. The 10AWG worked well for the 400W panel I have and the wires being bonded together instead of separate like the other set I have was nice. This was easy to unroll and roll back up for packing away and will be a must have when I am out camping to power up my battery pack through the day under light load.

    Perfect Timing
I appreciate that this extension cable has a nice 10 AWG conductor, even though loss difference would probably be negligible for a smaller gauge conductor over the short 15 ft run. I also appreciate that this manufacturer attaches connectors at both ends of the cable, so you don’t have to do it yourself. While I know how to crimp the connectors correctly, I always feel that a factory which specializes in manufacturing such cables may well do things better than I do at home.

Seems like good quality insulation, and just good overall quality cable.

It happened to arrive on a day when I was helping a friend fit an MPPT solar charge controller to their RV trailer. They had been running with just the big LiFePO4 battery for short dry camping trips, but they decided they wanted to be able to lay out a portable solar panel at the campsite to get a little more energy into the house battery.

So while I said above that I appreciated the connectors being attached at both ends… I promptly cut them off one end because the charge controller connections are for bare wires. Added some braided sleeving over the extension cable to reduce weathering and uV exposure, and to better protect the insulation. And now they have the ability to connect a solar panel to their house battery.

    Be mindful of mixing brands
I got this pair of 10AWG, 15-foot solar extension cables with the intention of cutting the factory-applied MC4 connectors off the ends and crimping my own MC4 connectors onto them. I have learned from past experience that non-branded MC4 connectors can melt, even in scenarios where the cable specs are not exceeded. I do not know if this is because those specific unbranded connectors are of lower quality or amp rating than 10AWG or if it is a matter of mismatching brands between the male and female connectors. (Mismatching connectors, I have learned, is a big no-no!)

I cannot say if the MC4 connectors included with this set are heavier duty than the ones I have used previously, but because I have had two near-catastrophic melting failures in the past, I am no longer taking any chances. I purchased a large box of BougeRV MC4 connectors (ASIN B07875Y7N9) to use uniformly throughout my system to eliminate failure points. By standardizing the brand, I can ensure there are no mismatched connections in my solar systems and confidently fuse the cables so I don’t fry my expensive components.

These 10AWG cables are flexible and well insulated and should work well for my purpose. I am glad to have the cables. Depending on your use case, you may be fine with the factory-crimped MC4s.

    Visit the YDDECW Store

First, the actual wire used appears to be high quality cooper with low resistance values using a multimeter. The length of my example was slightly over15 ft Cable seems to be 10 AWG. The attached photos below show 15 ft Solar Extention Cables from YDDECW of BOTH 10 AWG and larger 8 AWG extension cables for a size comparison.

Standards are a very good thing and the solar industries universally established the MC4 connector design as the standard. The design is rugged, very water resistant and can be, if you have the proper connecting tool, easy to disconnect. It is a click to connect system. Sadly the same connectors manufactured across the world are produced with differing tolerances. By design, differing AWG size wire requires different sized connectors. To my knowledge no MC4 connector available today is compatible with ALL other brands worldwide. While quality of the connectors does vary, even high quality examples have compatibility issues.

What does this means to the user? You must stick to connectors from one source if you want to insure a good connection. It also means a seller should have available compatible connectors available if the need arises. With an inexpensive crimping tool kit- many such kits available on Amazon, you can modify an incompatible connector issue.

The connectors used on these cords appear to be good quality. It seems solar extension cords might be a new product for YDDECW. Upon checking their site on Amazon, I could not find MC4 connectors alone offered. by YDDECW. I also found nothing as to where COMPATIBLE connectors could be obtained. Another option would be to offer one male and one female connctor COMPATIBLE with their extension cords plus the very inexpensive MC4 tool needed to install and operate the connectors.

I have MC4 connectors that do work with these extension cords and I have others, that do not.

This is a good product and a very good value. Even given the above issues, I would buy these extensions again.

4.5 Stars - Good to Connect Larger Portable Solar Panels
I ordered this Solar Panel Extension Cable to provide additional flexibility in setting up our new Anker 2,400W Solar Generator with its associated 800Watt Solar Panels (two 400W panels). The panels only come with short cables which impede optimum set-up; for example, having the solar panels outside on the patio while the generator/battery unit is inside the house.

This 10-AWG extension cable is very well made, and much heavier/thicker wire than the factory cables. This will provide maximum current capacity with minimal resistance loss. The connectors are well-made and molded to the cables for strain relief and durability. My only minor complaint is the wires are separate their entire length, which could easily lead to tangles; these wire should be covered with a sheath, heat-shrink, or something to keep them untangled.

You always need another cable, depending on the su
Great gauge size (10AWG) tinned red and black bonded PV wire with solar connectors in various lengths, mine is 15′

Very flexible, fire and UV resistant, and able to handle higher current. The connectors are waterproof and secure and usable in temperatures of -40F to 248F.

These cables are a must for power outages when maintaining solar generators inside the home. The cable length allows getting to the best possible position for the maximum charging rate from the sun. Additional connectors are available for connect a number of solar panels together and run the collective voltage up to 600V to your storage device(s).

Ironically, the tinned copper conductors outperform standard pure copper cables. The coating provides resistance against oxidation and corrosion in all weather conditions.

The bonded red and black wires keep tangles at a minimum for a trouble-free plug and play experience.

Real thick tinned copper that gets my panel out into the su
I run a solar panel to keep my batteries topped off when we are out camping and boondocking, and the panel never sits close to where the battery is, so this 15 foot extension was exactly what I needed to get the panel out into the sun while the trailer stays parked in the shade. The wire is a real 10 gauge with thick tinned copper strands, not the thin copper clad junk, so I am not losing power over the run and it stays cool under load even with the panel cranking in full sun. The jacket is a heavy weatherproof rubber that has been out in the rain and sun and shows no cracking or fading. The solar connectors on the ends snapped together with my panel and controller leads with a solid click and a weathertight seal, no fuss at all. Red and black are clearly marked so you are not guessing on polarity. Coils up easy and stores in the bin without fighting me. Good honest cable that does its job, works just as good on the boat and I would buy it again.
