This is a good tool and supplies. Applying metal snaps is not easy, even with the right tool; applying them out in the field away from your workbench can be challenging. This is a far better version of the purpose-made tools before it; for example, the nearly identical tools and supplies sold by West Marine for use in marine repairs get a zero in my book for ease of use as almost unusable.
Out of 6 uses, I succeeded in all 6 the first time, each looking good. With the West marine tool, I succeeded, but averaged 2 or more attempts each time, and the quality of the work marginal.
Ordered some outdoor tailored made netting for under my deck to help reduce bugs and cut down on the bright sun. Product came with a handheld punch. Very time consuming to use. Ordered this snap fastener kit and yes, it’s essentially a vice grip with the snap components welded on, but…it works GREAT! The alignment was perfect. It not only works to attach the snaps but also cuts the hole very cleanly. Just make sure you have the tension set right. I didn’t at first and the hole was frayed a little. Tightened the grip just a little more and had a perfect hole cut for the snap. Only thing I would note is that the snaps that come with the product aren’t the strongest so you might consider ordering marine grade snaps separately if your project requires a strong hold. Other than that, I definitely recommend this product.
Worked perfectly. I did my first set of snaps with these and it’s so much easier than the hammer and tool method. They only seem to work with dnaps designed for it though, so knocking off a star for that. It wouldn’t do anything for another regular snap set.

I’d definitely buy this kit again. I used it to replace several rusted (non-stainless) snaps on a boat cover.
I bought a kit from Harbor Freight and it didn’t hold up to punching through canvas. I purchased this one and it was awesome. So easy to punch through and the snaps hold really well. It worked great for my boat cove

This tool has had some thought put into it, which is always appreciated in a tool like this. First the quality is very good, it’s sturdy and comfortable to use. The snap accessories attach with magnets, which is a very convenient method to change plates out, only down side is the magnet strength could be better. The snaps along with this kit are plentiful and of good quality. The number one reason to buy this snap tool is the fact that the metal has been heat treated for hardness, for a clamping tool this is vitally important for longevity and precision. It’s a keeper and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Mise a jour: je viens procd plusieurs remplacement de bouton pression sur une poussette. Les pinces fonction tres bien et solide. Le bouton pression est tres bien fix dans le tissus. Le recouvrements orange a tendance a glisser. J’ai fait un test ca semble bien fonctionner.
ok so I bought another similar product to this with tons of good reviews, but honestly when I got it, it came in a carton box which eventually would get messed up and thrown away and so I’d have to stick this tool somewhere in my toolbox or who knows, and then nevermind what I’ll do with the snaps. Not to mention it had some weird oil on it. So I returned that and got this! the tool is basically the same as the other (granted metal color instead of black), but all in all is the same thang ya’ll. but this has its own case, has the snaps in an organized case, it even has a tool to remove the the cutouts that accumulate inside one of the dies (you’ll know what I mean when you start using this thing, which I didnt think I needed until I started using it!), so wow, again this product has what you need. The only complain I have, which the other product had the same issue, is that the snaps with the screws attached to them are impossible to unsnap and end up breaking the material, so they must be meant for some serious think material or who knows, but to me the snaps for the screws (other ones are ok) are so hard they an unusable to me.
