This Orabriz smart AC vent booster fan is a useful option if you have a room that does not get enough airflow from the HVAC system. It is made to replace a 4″ x 10″ register, so the first thing I would recommend is measuring your vent opening before ordering.
The fan helps push more air into the room, which can make a difference in areas that stay too hot or too cold compared to the rest of the house. I like that it has 10 fan speeds, so you can adjust it based on how much airflow you need. It also runs quietly enough that it should work well in a bedroom, office, or living area without being too distracting.
The app control is a nice feature because you can adjust the settings from your phone instead of bending down to change the fan speed manually. The display and buttons on the unit are also helpful if you do not want to use the app every time. The child and pet lock is a good added feature.
Installation is fairly simple, but you do need to make sure there is a nearby outlet since this is powered by a cord. Planning where the cord will run is important if you want the setup to look clean.
Overall, this is a good vent booster fan for improving airflow in problem rooms. It is quiet, adjustable, easy to control, and a practical upgrade if your HVAC vent does not push enough air on its own.
I have purchased two of these, now, for two of the rooms in our house where we spend the most time. The first brought the average temperature in our office down SIGNIFICANTLY – we’re talking like 6 degrees. Our office is a smaller area and we do have an oscillating fan standing in front of this vent to try and spread the cool air as it’s pushed from the floor register.
The second one went into the master bedroom, and its impact is far less noticeable. In all fairness, this room is probably 4x the size and has a vaulted ceiling – so it makes sense. The jury is out still in terms of its usefulness in bigger areas.
To me, these are relatively quiet – but definitely not silent. That’s not a detriment for us, as we tend to like the white noise of a fan… if that bugs you, you may want to be aware that, while quiet (on max fan), it’s still noticeable.
You can’t ask for something easier to install, as long as you have the appropriate, standard vent size. It drops right in and the flange holds it in place. They do come with a couple mounting screws/anchors (I assume for if you have a wall register instead of a floor one), but we didn’t use them for ours. Then, you just plug and go. Biggest negative is how close you need to be to an outlet and, of course, the routing of the cord…
We originally purchased this vent booster for our upstairs bedroom because it is the room farthest from our HVAC system. No matter the season, that room has always been the hardest to keep comfortable. It tends to be warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter, so we were hoping this would help improve the airflow.
Once we received it, we realized we didn’t have a nearby electrical outlet where we planned to use it. Until we tackle that home project, we’ve been testing it on one of the vents on our main level, and it has given us a good opportunity to see how it performs.
One feature I really like is the automatic temperature-based operation. Instead of remembering to turn it on and off, it responds to the airflow from the HVAC system, which makes it feel much more like a “set it and forget it” addition. I especially noticed a difference while running our air conditioning. The room felt like it was getting better airflow, and the conditioned air seemed to circulate more effectively.
The app was straightforward to connect, and I like having the ability to adjust settings without needing to bend down to the floor. There are several speed options, so it’s easy to find a setting that balances airflow with the amount of fan noise you prefer. Even at higher settings, I didn’t find it distracting during normal daily activities.
The only thing I noticed is that this unit is a little smaller than the vent opening in our home. It still functions well, but it’s worth measuring your floor register before ordering to make sure the size matches your existing vent.
Overall, I’ve been impressed with how much this little fan can improve airflow in a room that needs a little extra help. If you have one area of your home that never seems to be quite as comfortable as the rest, this is a simple upgrade that’s easy to install, easy to adjust, and has worked well for us so far.
Whats not shown in pictures is this needs to be plugged in so your intended vent and the path to nearest outlet should be considered. Its easily run along trim . Overall this does just what it says. Set to come on by temperature- ensuring thst runs when a/c OR heat kicks on. This part can be tricky- just realize the temp of ac will be lower than the set temp and heat higher. I was able to set very efficient cut on / off temps by use of laser thermometer, however, using temperatures with good margins below the set temp worked pretty well. If your vent comes from an unconditioned space these set points MAY be best set with laser thermometer. With the system actively running (after several minutes) point into the vent to find the temperature for cut on then just as it stops to set cut-off. To do this without t by thermometer you’ll have to pass through the settings until you get cut-off /cut-on points to trigger at these points simply by trial and error . The remote helps to do this more easily. Once its set up – I don’t find myself needing to use the remote often or really at all. Good idea to mount on nearby wall or at least label it and place in nearby by drawer just in case. This has lockout feature on the vent control panel. This is my second one of these types of vent fans. It made such a big difference in our distant bedroom that we installed this unit in the master closet. The temperature difference is VERY noticeable CLOSET is 10 cooler. Really makes a big difference for room farthest from the HVAC system. Additonal benefit of this unit is the negative ion aspect -this closet being pff the master bath with poor regulation of temp -I feel has a fresher feel already. Whether that simply from better temp or both temo and ions I will say our dog hides in this closet during storms and it has sometimes smelled a bit like a dog – vacuuming in there was when it would be most noticable. This has lessened quite notably. Fresher in general in there – very happy with all of this- overall this was a great solution- definitely worth while ! It looks good too !! Replaced a vent that was very plain and dated. Much cheaper than HVAC upgrades!
