I’ve been feeding a squirrel for the last few months. I started thinking she might like a place out of the coming cold weather to hide out. I haven’t seen her use it yet, but the weather is still nice. The house itself looks nice, seems sturdy. It was easy to hang up. They included hanging instructions, screws, and tips with it. We’ll see if little Buffy eventually uses it.
2 sides were the same with hole in them should have been a vented slot on one end. No worries i just reversed it now I will reduce hole size for ventilation.
It works
A little pricey but it’s well made.
I’ve rescued a baby squirrel and didn’t want just left her without a safe place to comeback to if she wants.
I’ve checked on her yesterday and I’ve found the little house empty and waited until the evening and she came back for the night so I’m happy that she likes it

we use this in an enclosure for baby squirrels we are rehabbing. they adore it! it arrived really fast. there’s venting on the back for air flow and a door on the side to clean out the box. i wish the entrance had been reinforced but these are wild animals so they would have found a way to destroy it anyways. they’ve widened the entrance substantially — definitely not a hard wood. all that matters to me is that they enjoy it though. i don’t know if i’d recommend this for outside of an enclosure. it’d be really easy for a racoon to stick their paws in to grab a squirrel since there’s no guard on the outside.
Daisy lives inside my house until spring. Teaching her to forage and store food was our first step, but I worry about her being in a safe home… I can’t teach her to build a squirrel nest. I placed this house on top of a dresser next to the towel she has slept in since she came to me. Two days later she tried to drag the towel into the box! It was too large, so I cut it in to a smaller piece and she now sleeps there every night from sun down to sun rise. The next step will be introducing a better bedding for when I move the house outside as weather begins to warm.
Overpriced but works perfectly
I found a squirrel in terrible shape almost dead. No shelters around me had room, and some even told me to just put him outside so a bird of pray could feed its chicks. I was able to use this shelter for a make shift (but not great) indoor home for him until he was strong and old enough for a soft release outside.
The box is now in a tree, and he has been living in it for months! He seems to have forgotten about me, but I enjoy seeing him come and go every now and then.
