Product description

It seems pretty strong
It is a nice screen, just a little high on the price.
The openings in the screen are just slightly less than 1/16 of an inch. I already have some old metal screen and some newer fiberglass screen, so I cut off a piece of each to compare them. This screen is the smallest piece in the pictures. The old metal screen is silver, and the fiberglass is the larger piece. This screen and the old metal screen are both woven, but this one is a tighter weave and has some type of black coating. I cut each screen with an old pair of scissors, and this one was a little harder to cut than the old metal screen.
The fiberglass screen doesn’t compare for strength and is only in the picture to compare the size of the openings. This screen seems strong enough to hold up to pets better than the other screens. How well it holds up will depend on the size and strength of your pet. I wouldn’t expect any screen to hold back our dogs if they really wanted to go through it. It is a screen after all, and you can only expect so much from a screen. Having said that, this screen would be so much better than a fiberglass screen that there is really no comparison.
If you already have metal screens, then I wouldn’t change them out for this screen unless there’s something wrong with the screens you have. On strength alone, comparing this screen to the old metal screen that I have, I don’t think the strength difference is large, but there is a difference.
The small openings in the screen seem to be of average size.
The screen roll came in a box of its own, and Amazon put it in another box. It was also wrapped with stretch wrap, so it arrived safely and had no exposed sharp edges until unwrapping it.
I would have given it 5 stars if the price were less. For this 7-foot by 3-foot piece, at $38.99, it is very close to $2 per square foot after sales tax. Even the large rolls are around $1.50 per square foot. Maybe I should expect that price for stainless steel.
I’m a carpenter, which is why I had the screens already, and I have replaced screens several times and built a screened-in porch. I am just comparing the cost of this screen to what I have had experience with. If you really need something like this to contain your pet, then I would say to ignore the cost and get whatever you need to keep the pet from getting out. If you don’t really need the extra strength, then I would probably save some money and go with a cheaper option.
Great for keeping small critters contained, but a bit tough to cu
I got this heavy duty mesh to build some secure custom tops for my invertebrate enclosures, and it definitely does the job. It feels incredibly durable and gives me complete peace of mind that nothing is escaping or chewing its way through. The main downside is that because it’s so thick and high quality, it can be a real pain to cut and shape properly. You’ll definitely want a solid pair of wire cutters and some patience. Overall, it’s a fantastic, secure mesh that holds up incredibly well once you get it installed.
Strong Window Screen That Stands Up to Pets
I replaced an old window screen with this stainless steel mesh, and the difference is noticeable. It feels much stronger than a standard screen and has held up well against my pet’s scratching without tearing. The fine mesh keeps bugs out while still allowing plenty of fresh air to come through. It was easy to cut to size and install, and it gives me confidence that it will last much longer than regular fiberglass screens.
Fantastic screening!! I have a farm and on that farm I have 8 cats, lol, for rat and mice control. I have one screen in particular that the cats always come to and say hi and also claw the screen of. I’ve replaced that screen several times but this last time with pet proof stainless Steel screen and I think they’ve finally met their match. This window screen is very durable and tough stuff! I’m very impressed with its ability to hold up to this amount of abuse and still look brand new. Installation was a little harder than regular screen because it’s thicker stuff and doesn’t quite bend the same as regular screen but that was to be expected. This window screening was enough to replace two window screens and I will definitely be getting more to replace the rest.
