Charged quick and lasts a long time! Took this on my thru hike of the Florida Trail and was really impressed. It is incredibly light weight. I have thick curly hair and so a lot of headlamps don’t work – they become way too tight and give me a headache. Not this one! Its band is large and adjustable. Without a beanie or hat, I actually have to tighten it which makes me feel more secure. It has 2 different white temps at varying brightness. The red light is an awesome added touch for use in camp. It took a bit of time to figure out how to use it, so it’s not completely intuitive (why do I have to press the power button to get red?) and can be difficult to use at night, but once you get the hang of what all the buttons do, it works fine.
The sticker was a nice added bonus!
Pretty small, lightweight, and bright, pretty easy to use and it’s very intuitive, love that you can lock the power button allowing the battery to last longer, the light will not turn on by itself, so the recharge will last a while, have been using it at night shifts and the low brightness setting works wonderful as a little auxiliary lamp
Best of the best - warm color makes a huge difference.
There are so many choices for headlamps – from expensive name brands to no-name imports. Due to the work my wife and daughter do and my hobbies, we have many headlamps. This is by far the best and most comfortable one we have tried. It is light and easily adjusted. Easy to charge and the beam’s adjustability and longevity are excellent. Due to the type of work done by my daughter, seeing true color is vital. This is the only headlamp that we have found which is capable of producing light that is acceptable. Fine product.
You can wear this headset for a long time with no discomfort as it is very light weight. The light will tilt so you can get light exactly where you need it. The amount of light is ample but not too bright causing eye fatigue. I highly recommend.
This product is a total winner.
I’m incredibly happy with this headlamp. The delivery was fast, the product arrived without any issues, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way.
The brightness is perfect, the weight is so light that I barely notice it’s there, and it’s completely comfortable. I use it for evening walks with my dog, and it’s just perfect. It provides exactly the right amount of light to see the path and keep an eye on my dog without being too bright.
Vraiment un bon produit!
Frontal vraiment gnial.

Best headlamp Ive owned
Seriously the best headlamp. I used it for my first burning man and it saved me several times. Has many different modes of flashing or red, warm, and cool colors. Charges quickly and lasts a long time
Bought this for a safari for walking to/from the lodge to tent at night and for after generators are cut at night to be able to see in the tent. There is a very limited amount of luggage weight allowed so I was trying to go very minimalistic and light weight without giving up lumens and the ability to have red light. This light seems to check off all of the boxes and I think it will serve me well for all of my uses.
Great light. I want a small and light headlamp that can be pocketed. For me, the Petzl Zipka was the one I used for over a decade or two. A headlamp whose strap is retracted into the body and the whole thing can be pocketed as small unit. Unfortunately, they stopped making this and I’ve had to find a new one. This is about the best alternative I’ve found. It doesn’t pocket. as nicely, the bungee cords are still loose, but it’s the best substitution I’ve found to date.
Out of the dozen+ headlamps I’ve ever used, this is clearly the best.
The fine-tuned adjustments of brightness, color temperature, and the red light at two levels fits nearly every situation I could hope for, both in the wilderness, at home, and in town. The system seemed a bit complex at first, but soon I discovered that it’s very logical and easy to remember. After some practice here and there, I can adjust the light to the situation’s needs with barely having to think about it.
The light is very clear, with no “circles” or harsh gradients. The beam provides a good balance of long distance for spotting and a wider beam for camp use, moving about indoors, repairing something, etc.
Turning on a warmer color temperature is very helpful when I want to ease eyestrain, and reduce blue light late at night before sleep time. I wish it had a calibrated “CCI” perfectly natural color rendering, but it’s adequate and more important to have several options of warmth vs. blue-light clarity, all instantly adjustable.
Ideally, I wish it had a very dim moonlight setting that stays on. There’s one that illuminates for only a few seconds. But on the other hand, the efficiency of this light allows somewhat brighter low-light levels to drain the battery less than much dimmer levels in previous comparable Nitecore headlamps.
As someone who hikes at night for hours sometimes, the NU25 MCT UL 400 offers an ideal mid-range light level that lasts all night (in the summer!) To me, Nitecore seems to best embody the state of the art in useful efficient lighting, and without the premium pricing of some other established outdoor brands.
One word of caution: the naming of this model is very confusing, because there is another NU25, named the NU25 UL 400. Note that “MCT” is not part of the name. It is excellent as well but has different trade-offs. It offers a wide vs. spot beam option, but does not have 3 different color temperatures. Some of the Amazon listings don’t make this abundantly clear. Though I tried to be careful, at first I ended up ordering the non-MCT NU 25 model, because the listing had contradictory naming in it. It wasn’t much of a hassle to return it, of course.
Honestly, I wish this MCT version also offered a longer range spot beam. The color temperature selection is more important to me though. Its warmer temperature colors offer a more natural view of nature, and having less blue light won’t cause trouble getting to sleep late at night. The bluer light in the non-MCT version is also tires one’s eyes more than warmer light. Generally I keep the NU25 MCT UL set to the mid-range neutral setting, which is 4500 Kelvin. But if I need to identify distant objects, I switch to the cooler light setting temporarily, because blue light helps our eyes define detail better.
For trips where I may need to do difficult route finding at night, such as off-trail or when many trails cross each other confusingly, I carry a separate mini flashlight with an extreme beam throw. It only stays on a few seconds at a time. I rarely carry this. The NU25 MCT UL is adequate for route finding on nearly all trails
To me, the NU25 MCT UL represents the most logical and refined balance of features, lighting modes, color temperature, long run time, and quick adjustability (once learned). I think the designers and leadership of Nitecore listened well to customers, thought very carefully and collaborated well to make this. It’s an elegant representation of the state of the art in headlamp optics and illumination.
