Pretty good, a few small concerns
On one hand, this is a very useful camera mount, allowing you to get a very accurate POV shot from eye level. The wide-angle view of the nano gets your hands and some of your wrists in the shot, so it’s a pretty good angle for riding. You probably don’t get much choice to point it down farther if you really want to see the ground, because of the limited space in the helmet. It allows you to close the visor to protect it from bugs or rain if you need to, and the magnetic attachment is quite strong. Plenty strong to hold it in place unless you crash, then maybe not. It rotates endlessly from horizontal to vertical, and clicks into place every 90.
And if you do crash, your helmet will also protect the camera as long as you’ve got it positioned on the inside.
But I can’t say it’s perfect. Here are the questionable things.
Especially in a dirt helmet, with the visor and full face chin protection jutting out, you are likely to get some of that in the frame.
Depending where the snaps are for your helmet padding, you may only have a small range of where you can insert this. That said, it’s probably fine, even good, despite showing some visor or helmet in the top or bottom of the frame, as shown in the attached photos. It works a little better in a street helmet, without the visor and with the full face part not extending so far, but I still see a little bit of the helmet. Maybe you’ll like that. Maybe that’ll make it seem even more authentic.
As shown in the last photo, The unit’s two parts can snap apart. That’s not hard to do if you want to, but if you don’t plan to crash hard, you shouldn’t worry about it. The connection is pretty strong.
I generally prefer to insurface with a camera more outside the helmet, to keep the helmet a little bit more out of the picture, but if you do this, just know that you won’t be able to close your visor over it.
My conclusion: if you like seeing a tiny bit of helmet in the picture for very suggestive POV, get this. If you’re paranoid about your camera and want to give it more protection inside your helmet, get this. Otherwise, I would probably stick with a chin mount.
Awesome mount, just check if you wear glasses
The mount was solid and fit great; the magnets were strong and but easy to get the camera detached. I’d just caution people who have glasses to check the fitment. It pressed up against my frames and slightly angled the camera away from my point of view. Not really an issue with the product itself, since the camera is a bit larger than the Insta 360 Go, just something to note.
