his thing is exactly as it appears. It was super handy for forgetting our onions and potatoes out of baskets and into a nice undercabinet location for cool dark storage but it is a little unwieldy because the top opens upwards and the front opens outward. So just be aware that if you wanna use the top section you have to have enough clearance to flip open a 4+ inch lid
My mom has always had a potato and onion bin since I was a kid so this felt like a must have in my kitchen. I do think that it is a little small however we do not eat a ton of potatoes and I never buy more than a 5lb bag so it works for my family. If you buy 10lb bags of potatoes this would not work for you. Also I do not buy a ton of onions at the same time so again works for me, but if you buy bags of onions at a time they will not all fit. The material does not really feel like real wood, it is hard to tell, it seems pretty light but it looks real. The reason that I give this a four star is because even though I know that it is smaller the onion bin is really small, in order for the lid to close I always have to buy small onions. If I just buy a medium or bigger onion the top lid will not close because the depth of that bin is small.
It’s made of nice wood, came assembled and well packed in bubble wrap, no damage. It has a homey, from days gone by feel. It’s cute, it doesn’t hold a lot but I have five large sweet potatoes and two small bags of purple, gold and red potatoes in mine, along with some small garlic bulbs. I’m happy to not have them just sitting on my counter without a home, and I like that they’re not taking up a lot of room in the fridge. My husband commented on it, and said he liked it. He notices everything, but he sure doesn’t like everything! I use the top of mine for my cell phone charging space.
