I own both the original version and the updated version of this cabinet. The major difference between the two is that the new version comes with pre-installed drawer slides that prevent the drawer from being pulled out all the way. The earlier version had plastic slides that were great for reducing friction, but the plastic was also pliable so it was very easy to deform when screwing them into the side panels which would alter the drawer height, potentially causing problems. The earlier version also used metal dowels to stop the drawer, but they fall out very easily and weren’t a very good design. With the pre-installed drawer slides (major improvement) that issue goes away. And the wheels on the drawer slides make the drawer open and close nicely.
Typically, self-assembly furniture has a reputation for arriving with missing parts. The first version came with all of the parts. The second version came with some extra screws but one of the drawer pulls was missing a single machine screw. I have reached out to Hoobro support for the part and I’ll update about how that process went.
I *strongly* encourage you to have a cordless vacuum with you when opening the box to manage all of the styrofoam bits that break free from the rigid packing material.
The instructions are easy to follow, but I also will tell you that Step 6 is a crap way to assemble any joint unless you own, and use, a woodworking tool called a corner clamp. I may just make a video that shows the assembly from beginning to end and how to do this without making yourself crazy.
Attractive and well-made
I purchased this to put my portable AC unit on. It was easy for my husband to put together. It arrived in perfect condition with no damage or missing parts.It’s sturdy and holds the air conditioner with no problems. It’s also very attractive and I like that it has drawers. It’s absolutely perfect for what I needed it for.

Easy to assemble but takes a long time. My husband helped me a little but I mostly did it myself. Took me about 4 hours with only basic tools.
I’m very impressed with how the cabinet came packaged. No broken pieces. No missing pieces.
Cabinet appears to be rather sturdy and the drawers are a great size. Drawers slide easily.
We didn’t use the wheels because my husband is going to build a bottom piece to raise the cabinet to 30″ and make it more farmhouse.

Very well engineered. Instructions are minimal and sufficient; extra attention is noted where necessary. I took my time in constructing this and enjoyed the process. I found installing the castors a bit troublesome until I drilled VERY small pilot holes at the places marked for the screws. The runners for the drawers also benefited from pilot holes (though partial installation of the screws without the runner, then removal of the screws, and normal installation of the runners was sufficient here). The product includes some extra hardware and added bits to strengthen the cabinet construction. Again, well designed. Well, worth the cost! (Consider, I am a 75 yo nun and assembled this myself working in a leisurely way during one afternoon! I think most anyone could enjoy this project and be happy with the finished product!)
Pros:
– A well thought out instruction manual, with extra screws etc.
– Sturdy enough for the price.
– Looks good
– Wheels are fluid and roll well
– True to the advertised size
Cons:
– Even as an experienced woodworker with the correct electric tools, this took around two hours to put together. There are things that could be done at the production level to cut this time easily by 75%.
– Although the instructions are easy, there are A LOT of them, which could be intimidating to some folks.
– The drawers are not on rails, and for the price, there is really no reason why not. This means the operation is a little clunky. Though it works, it’s by no means smooth.
– Although well constructed, the parts are still cheep, thin chipboard with plastic runners. It feels sturdy, but this may or may not last depending on the use case.
Quirks and obaervations:
– As per the photographs, if you’re not paying attention you can easily pop a drawer back in “out of sync” with the others. It does nothing to hurt the operation of the drawer itself, but aesthetically this may be annoying to some people.
– Packing materials consist of A LOT of high static plastic and polystyrene (styrofoam). Not only are the tiny white bits incredibly annoying and difficult to get rid of, it’s 2023; companies need to do better with environmental issues when cardboard and paper offer a cost effective and biodegradable alternative.
Conclusion:
After loading it up with everything I needed to, this is a definitely space saver for those small nick-nacks that home office’s have, or hobby spaces accumulate. It’s done the trick for what I needed and for the price it’s definitely acceptable, but it would not be at home in a heavy use environment.
