This hose is an excellent choice that should meet your needs if you select the appropriate length. However, if you are like me and insist on doing things in a very specific manner, there may be some challenges.
When I began searching for a hose, I had several criteria in mind: it needed to be black in color, made of rubber rather than vinyl to prevent kinks, strong and durable to last for many years, available in very long lengths, and affordable.
I am pleased to report that the 100-foot length of this hose appears to meet all of my criteria and will become my preferred choice for creating a watering system around my sizable yard.
The color requirement stems from my desire to leave the hose in place throughout the garden without it being excessively visible.
The material requirement is based on my extensive experience with inexpensive hoses, which often develop kinks that restrict flow or create pinhole leaks after exposure to the elements for a few months.
Durability is essential because the hose will be partially buried across a pathway, a location that is mowed, and I lack the patience or time to be gentle with my garden hose.
I opted for a very long length to have options for cutting it and creating custom lengths to reach the desired locations throughout the yard. Additionally, these hoses tend to become more affordable per foot as they extend — up to approximately 100 feet.
Upon receiving the hose, I immediately cut off a length to create my initial section. As evidenced in the accompanying image, it is a well-crafted, high-quality rubber hose with two layers and a nylon reinforcement layer in between.
In my current use, the hose has been completely free of kinks or leaks and has performed flawlessly.
For those who have read this far and are as meticulous as I am, you will notice that I have included photographs demonstrating the internal diameter of this hose to be nearly precisely 5/8 inch at 0.615 inches and the external diameter to be 0.85 inches. Consequently, it is a robust and heavy-duty material, and particularly when brand new, it will not be flexible enough to work with standard barb-type hose repair kits, which anticipate a year-old vinyl hose to stretch over the end. Additionally, the external diameter presents a challenge for repair kits designed to use a collar instead of a clamp. Therefore, while it is an excellent material for its intended purpose, cutting it open, as I have done, necessitates awareness of these considerations.
Furthermore, the factory-installed ends are of exceptional construction, and the strain relief feature is a nice addition.

UPDATE: and upgrade from four to five stars. I have found that the perfect ends to use with this hose in making custom lenses is the “FINEST+ 5/8″ Garden Hose Repair Connector Fitting” ASIN BOFX2W4R74 they go on tight (use a little dish soap or something), work great with no leaks, and are appropriately high quality for this luxury-level hose.
Look no further. I’ve tried a few different hoses now and quality/feel wise this one takes the cake. Does not want to kink, I mean it will if you don’t unwind and straighten it out correctly and try pulling it to full length it’s not invincible but it’s not easy to do. It’s definitely NOT lightweight which is what I didn’t want. I wanted a solid, durable heavy hose to run different sprinkler jobs and just be overall reliable around the house. I’m not an elderly person or a woman with a garden. I wanted something rugged and thick but also very flexible aka low memory. This definitely fit that bill. The thing just looks and feels.. premium. Just a solid all black hose with a smooth quality low memory yet soft touch kind of feel, no overly obvious branding or markings.. no super restrictive tiny openings and the ends either. They’re not 3/4 diameter openings, which I don’t think matters as much as the actual open length of the hose being 3/4 as I’m finding all hoses to be like this.. but they’re not tiny like I’ve been finding on each other hose I tried. The hose actually HOLDS a circular shape as well.. I just tried another GripZilla brand or whatever the name is and it didn’t hold shape. It wanted to sort of flatten/oval out in most areas which made it even more prone to kinking & water restriction so I ultimately returned it and found this. I’ve now returned both of my other hoses as well to opt for this one in different lengths. The two 50ft and one 25ft I have in this thing are excellent.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:
Great size for our yard. 50′ was a little too short and of course 100′ would be overkill.
The connection hardware seems to be good quality. (Brass is sturdier than aluminum.)
It says rhe working pressure is 300 psi which is higher than most others.
The hose is a little lighter and more flexible than we expected. The black color can get pretty hot in the aun but that doesn’t hurt functionality.
Like most hoses you can still get kinks if you are manipulating it without water pressure. So if you don’t have an actual cranking reel winder, let the pressure build up before unlooping it from rhe hose hanger and release rhe pressure after hanging it back up when you’re done.
The hose looks fairly robust. The ends are brass and look well made. It is a little thinner feeling than a 100′ / 5/8″ Goodtyear I have. As one other review said, the ID of the ends is not 3.4″, however the actual hose ID is larger and flows significantly more water.
I bought this hose to use with a pressure-washer that demands a lot of flow. Using the pressure-washer with a 100′ 5/8″ hose was marginal.
I did a flow check and the Langara 3/4″ hose filled a 5 gallon bucket in 20.2 seconds. The 5/8″ Goodyear hose took 27.7 seconds to fill the same bucket. Both tests started with 60 PSI head, and no nozzle or QD at either end. Just the hoses directly off a 1.5″ main.
We ranch and we go through quite a bit of hoses on our place and I have literally tried them all. I bought these hoses on a whim after searching and searching for new hoses that would last.
I bought these (125ft) and I bought them in January it is almost July. These hoses get dragged and used daily and have been ran over countless times, been walked on and dragged over fences and through fences, across concrete and in with cattle and horses and are still in perfect condition. They have plastic to cover the ends and the go right on and off of a faucet. You couldn’t ask for better quality, the rubber is soft and pliable in any weather (we have had them from winter down into the teens to 100+ here in summer. They are light enough for being 125 ft each. These have lasted longer than any other hose we have purchased in the last 10 years. We of course bought the black so if the color changes anything I’m going to suggest going with the black.
If you need a hose that works and is worth it, these are very much so worth the money!!!!
I’ve tried lots of “premium”, “contractor grade” hoses and they have all lasted about a year.
This hose seems better than the others. It’s thicker material so hopefully it won’t crack and leak like the others. Fittings were solid and connected right to my bib and irrigation timer.
I’ll be back next year to fill yall in on how it did after a summer and winter in the bright Tennessee sun.
