I ordered 4 of these for my family for a 3 week trip to Hawaii. We took 6 separate flights on this trip. I was concerned if these bags would hold up to the airline checked baggage team, especially after reading that the luggage loading people perfer non-duffle luggage for easier stacking. These bags helped up flawlessly!! Not a single snag or tear. On our last flight I did have 1 zipper come open and a pair of shoes fell out, but the airline people found the shoes and they came out at the baggage claim in a separate tote. Nothing wrong with the zipper, it just was opened.
I am beyond pleased. Only small complaint is that they do not stand up on end shen checking.
Also for southwest customers, the lady at the desk told me they “are not responsible to damage to soft side duffle” and they ” are only responsible for lost bags”. I found that a little odd, but st this point, these bags have proved their worth.
Pretty decent build quality on this bag. Attached are pics of the bag in total (coffee for scale) and all the damage it took on a two week long trip to Turkey and Greece, getting checked on airlines about 5 times. The only big break was the elastic cord on the top, which I never really used anyway, but could have been useful at some point, so that’s a little bit of a bummer. Gonna blame that one on the airline though, not the bag.
I never packed it to the brim, so there was always some sag in it when pulling, but I found that the straps that synched across the top helped to stiffen everything up and stop the contents from piling up on the downward wheel side of the cavity. Not as comfortable to wheel around as your traditional rolling suitcase, but it rolls well and really has a TON of space in it, at least for me and 30+yo guy who tries to pack light and can’t afford a ton of big souvenirs. Also easy to pick up and carry with the straps.
Did not get a chance to test the waterproofing.
Exactly as advertised. These hold a lot of gear even without expanding the unit. We needed compressible luggage under 44 pounds for our trip to the Galapagos and these worked perfectly
We purchased this item to use while moving our daughter to school overseas. It is big enough to fill with many of her clothing items. And the straps allowed it to be compressed to fit airline requirements. And light enough to not go over the weight limit. And once she unpacked she was able to fold it small enough to fit inside her carry on luggage, which fit inside her larger suitcase, for storage in her student housing. My only critique is the handle to pull it is soft and both of us are short, so lugging it through the airport and in the city to our hotel was a bit awkward as it didn’t engage the wheels fully on the other end. But wasn’t problematic enough to take away a star from the rating.
I purchased a “big name” duffel and wasn’t impressed. Love this bag! LOVE This Green!
This bag holds a lot! I love the x-large pockets on both ends. I highly recommend it. Most duffels have semi-flat pockets that can’t hold much. I was very surprised with the easy fold for storage or take along to use later. It’s construction and handles are very sturdy. Even the zipper seems viable for long term. The wheels worked. Distribute weight evenly and you’ll have no problems.
